Caption Contest

Ok, to avoid crawling into my template to add Snooze Button Dreams to the Munuvian line-up, and also so as not to spoil the punchline on my blog, I'm going to have a caption contest here. Y'all have until Sunday midnight to come up with the best caption, and the prize will be...something.

[Thanks to Heather for seconding an idea I had but was iffy about until she thought of it too......]

Hic!

Susie and Spork noted that Munuvia has been a little bit flaky today. I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but one of my IP addresses - just one, but the important one, because it's where the blogs live - has decided to disappear from the internet for short intervals.

Weird. Just plain weird. All the others work fine, except for the one I assigned to the second ethernet port which no longer seems to be connected to anything at all. If problems persist, I will move the blogs to a different IP.

Beyond that... Well, beyond that there is the New Server™. I'll be talking more about the New Server™ in coming weeks. It doesn't actually exist yet; I'm still scouting out the best deals and the most reliable hosting companies. But it is definitely on the cards now, and will probably (bangs head on wood) be up and running before Christmas.

Unless, of course, the mice get to it first.

Hello? Is anyone home?

Wow, where did everyone go? Did someone forget to send my an invitation? Or was it intentionally not sent my way?

Help me donate to charity

Yes, I have a challenge on my site. Only the home of the Nightly Navel Gazing Report™ would focus on navel displays during a Boobie Thon. Now all you have to do is go vote for the one with the sexiest navel.

OK, I'm an idiot. I've got my 100th publius.mu.nu post coming up (I almost missed it), and I want it to be good. Anyone got any ideas? Even though I'll probably f--- it up royally?

Angelweave is live

Well, I got the blog in a state that I felt was ready to launch. What's left to do?

1) Import old blog stuff - Pixy and I will work through that.
2) Get in compliance with the Alliance Yes, Susie, I know. I felt it was okay to hold off a day.
3) Add categories showing to the posts (got documentation. Shouldn't be hard).
4) Add a clickable list of categories down the side.
5) Add my poetry (about ready to go).
6) Catch up on my writing!
7) Register this new place with everywhere.
8) E-mail people who linked to me.

I hadn't realized it'd be this much work! But, boy is it worth it.

Thanks again, guys!

Time Warp, Perhaps?

A question for all those in the know: I recently posted an entry (not here, on The Cheese) and thought better of it five minutes later and deleted it. Today I found someone has a link to that now-deleted entry, and it can still be accessed that way.
How do you delete an entry from all existance? When I do the search thing on it for the entry title, it comes up zilch. How odd, huh?
Not urgent, just curious.

I count Pixy Misa, Susie, Jennifer, Tim, me, Victor, Collins (wherever he may be), Cherry, Rocket, Mookie, LeAnn, Roxette Bunny, Daniel, Mr. Green and Stevie and Heather makes 16.

Cow Puppies

But because the animals will be difficult to ship to the U.S., the embassy plans to sell the cows and use the funds to buy Masai jewelry, which will then be displayed at a Sept. 11 memorial in New York City.

Some New Yorkers said they wanted the actual cows.

"The cows are the most amazing gift we received –- I mean, who else sent cows?" insisted Ed McCormick, a construction worker from the Bronx. "If those guys wanted us to have jewelry, they would have sent it. They wanted us to have cows. We should take the cows and raise them on a nice farm upstate and then send the cow puppies back to them someday."

The "cow puppy" concept might point up the reason New Yorkers would be better off with the beads, but no matter how it ends up, Manhattan residents are truly touched over the Masai gift.

Air Munuviana

I was piddlin' around with some simulation software over lunch, and came up with some broad specs for our rocket. I'm sure this bores some of you, but it floats my boat. Sorry.

The basic lady will be about 60" (1525cm) tall and 2.2" (55cm) in diameter. She'll fly on a nitrous oxide hybrid motor, and parachute deployment will be controlled by an electronic altimeter.

Simulations are never completely accurate, so these numbers are optimistic, but projected altitude will be around 3,000 feet. Within .5 second of ignition, she'll pull 12+ g's, and reach a top speed of 450mph within 2.5 seconds. She's gonna be a screamer! Apogee will be take around 12 seconds.

There's a graph posted in the extended entry.

The Missing Munuvian

I sent this e-mail to Collins:

Howdy John,

Are you still with us? People are seriously getting worried!
Post something/anything!!!!!!

Cheers,
Tuning Spork

The good news: My e-mail to Collins wasn't returned "inbox is full."
The bad news: My e-mail hasn't yet been responded to.

In all seriousness; something may be terriblely amiss.
(maybe Michelle will have better luck.)

Roll Call

My next rocket project is going to be Munuvian related. The basic design is done, and mostly what's left is picking out the name and colors. I'm not real big on flying naked rockets, so mine are almost always nicely finished before making their maiden flight. And that's where I need your help.

I need your color suggestions (I'm leaning toward red nosecone, white airframe, and black trim). Any favorite color combinations are welcomed.

One thing I'd like to do is put everyone's name/blog name/blog address on the rocket, along with the appropriate national flag. For that, I'd like to find out where everyone is from. I'll get down to the state/province/etc level if desired. Actually, it'd be kinda cool to add any other logos you'd like to see (like Daniel's U of Chicago seal, etc).

And I'm aiming to have this ready to fly on the 1st of November. Victor, maybe you and Nic can come to the launch?
