Minx Update/Jedi Mind Tricks
How's Minx coming along Pixie? I've had a major site redesign in mind for awhile now, but wanted to wait for Minx.
Also, I know that this question gets thrown in every once in awhile, but isn't there some way to implement a comment registration system? I have so many trolls that know how to thwart IP blocking that I'm seriously considering just closing comments altogether. Jedi mind trick: I will start a comment registration system. Comment management
I no longer get email notification of comments on my blog. I think it stopped around the time we went to the newest servers. Is this no longer a viable option? I've been dependent upon these notifications to know when to do some manual spam-busting.
I also would like to know if there is a way for me to manage my blog's comments without having to look at individual entries. I know in the editing menu there are listed the five most recent comments, but is there some way I can look at, say, the last 100 comments? Or all of them together? Granted, I don't have that many, but it would be nice to be able to go through the comments as a group, rather than individually. Is that capability already available, but I have somehow missed it? Okay, that's weird. Most people had their email problems fixed when we moved.
You should still be getting the notification; I'll see if I can find out what's going on.
Meanwhile, if you go into MT Blacklist, and do a search for (say) the last 2000 comments with "All (no filter)", you'll get the recent comments for your blog.
You need to use a big number because it takes the last 2000 comments for all of mu.nu, then from those it selects just the ones for your blog. Kind of stupid, but it gets you there.

I've found the problem: We've been blacklisted for spam. Again.
Either someone has loaded something nasty onto the server, or someone is running an unpatched version of something with a security hole. I have a suspect, but need to do a bit more digging.

Yes, the clock on one server went waaaay off for some reason. By the time I found it, it had already fixed itself, so I'm not sure what happened.
The NTP daemon (which is supposed to look after this) had died, so I restarted it, but even without NTP the clock should have only been a few seconds off, not twelve hours!

The preference for comments for your blog won't let you turn them off for old posts but you can shut them off for new ones. Also you can choose to no allow html in comments and since most of these probably have a link or two in them that might slow them down.

Tammi, the CPanel (admin interface to the server) requires that a bandwidth limit be set for each account. Pixy basically sets an arbitrary limit that "should" work for everybody, but sometimes, for different reasons, people get more traffic than expected and go over that limit, which causes the server to restrict the site either until the new month has rolled over or until the administrator goes in and assigns more bandwidth to that account.
As far as I know, Pixy is still on holiday and unless he left the WHM "keys" to the new servers with someone else, you'll need to wait for him to get back to release your site from bandwidth jail. It might be worth dropping him an email in case he's checking mail while away too.
Nothing you did wrong, and your content is perfectly safe - just temporarily unavailable.
Sorry not to have better news.

Picture Problem
I just tried to upload a picture to Rocket Jones, and instead of showing me the HTML, I got "error 500 - bugger".
So I hand coded it, but get the "alt" description instead (which is nice, but not what I wanted). A second attempt to upload the photo let me know that the picture already existed, but that I could overwrite it. So I did, but still no joy. Anyone else have this issue before? How did you fix it? I know there is hot-linking prevention in CPanel - but that's all I know about it.
If they guy downloaded it and posted it to his own server it's a bigger challenge. If you have Photoshop you can embed a digital watermark identifying the photo as yours. It can't stop someone from doing what this guy did, but it can give you one more weapon to fight with.

There's no way to do so, Greg.
Most of the "disallow right-click" hacks out there are easily defeated (there's even a standard Firefox extension for just such a purpose) and then there's the simple screenshot method.
The reality of the Internet is that any content you post can be inappropriately used by others. Period.
There are steps you can take to make the eventual process of forcing a takedown easier, and to make sure that your bandwidth isn't being used to display the image on another site (hotlinking), but as far as preemptively stopping use in the first place? Unfortunately not.

You could try putting a watermark on the picture in a place where it would be difficult to crop out. Of course, it'll make your picture look crappy but it might deter theft.

Heh... I would just upload a picture of fresh dog-poop with the same name as your stolen image so that when people open his site, they get to see a big steaming pile o' dog sh!t!!!!

A MuNu email icon?
A few weeks ago, David (of Rishon-Rishon notoriety) and I were discussing via email the use of the "Joe@yourMuNublogdomain.Mu.Nu" email forwarding gizmo and we got on the subject of email icon generators (see: http://services.nexodyne.com/email/index.php)

Missing Archives
Just went to my archives to find a particular post and noted that my August, September and October Archives are missing.... Too, my blog started showing up with all kinds of squiggles etc... I tried rebuilding as it seems that a prior post suggested taht, but no luck...

Can't Post on Jawa
I can log in using the blog3 server, but when I attempted to post something on the Jawa Report I got a "demphist denied permission" or something like that. I figured maybe Rusty had fired me, but he'd tell me right? It may have something to do with the fact that whoever set up the account for me used several different and creative spellings of both "Demosophist" and "Demosophia" which may be screwing things up. Everything seems to work on the regular server, but not on blog3.

Update: I ran through the list of blogs over yonder (hi everyone!), and rebuilt anyone who seemed to be in trouble, so you should all be good now.
It was a quota problem.
The account that MT lives under was running out of disk space. So when you went to rebuild your blog, maybe it worked, maybe it didn't, maybe it half worked. Bleh.IF YOUR BLOG IS MISSING IN ACTION, LOG INTO MOVABLE TYPE, AND EDIT AND SAVE THE LATEST POST. That should fix everything, and now that I've found the underlying problem, it should stay fixed.
Then I thought, aha! This is why image thumbnails aren't working too. But no.
Update: I ran through the list of blogs over yonder (hi everyone!), and rebuilt anyone who seemed to be in trouble, so you should all be good now.

It was working this morning. That I know. Then I went in and tried to add a Paypal button and when I looked at the site it was gone.
