It seems from the data that this poll was mostly of the Republican base, and it seems the base still likes Gov. Palin, despite the scorn the Party apparatchiks have heaped upon her for resigning her Governorship.
Which just goes to prove that the apparatchiks are out of touch with the base.

For myself, I think Gov. Palin made the correct decision and I look forward to the next three years with great anticipation to see just what course Sarah will take. In a way, I pity her opponents, they have a real, principled, mature adult to deal with for a change and it won't be pretty --- for them.

just some random videos...

If you appreciate high precision, you can't do better than the USMC Silent Drill Team:

Having given the Marines their due credit, I CAN'T forget MY service branch, the U.S. Army, and even better, from my old division, the 3rd ID:

I suppose that Beth would never forgive me if I didn't include her beloved U.S.A.F...maybe some Zoomies CAN be precise after all:

The Navy aren't exactly pikers in the precision department either, watch these Squids show the colors in Norway:

And finally, some true "shock and awe" delivered ARMY AIR CAV style with AC/DC as the background soundtrack; just because it's MY blog and I can do what I like:

And my favorite air weapon, the A-10 Warthog in action:

Blast from the Past

If you're an old fart like me you will enjoy hearing Tennessee Ernie Ford's golden voice again, and if you're a young sprout, this is an opportunity to hear one of the gratest voices ever to grace the airwaves; either way I think you'll find this video most amusing...watch Mr. Ford's face as he does everything he can to not laugh at his young son Brian's antics.

Thanks for sending this to me Catfish!

And here's his most famous song:

The Man & The Traffic Camera

You Ladies will love this,

Guys....Sometimes I just post what I'm sent. Be honest, to really fuck up, there has to be a man involved somewhere.....

A man was driving when a traffic camera flashed. He thought his picture was taken for exceeding the speed limit, even though he knew he was not speeding. Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed. He thought this was quite funny, so he slowed down even further as he drove past the area, but the traffic camera flashed yet again. He tried a fourth time with the same result. The fifth time he was laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past at a snail's pace.

Two weeks later, he got five traffic fine letters in the mail for driving without a seat belt.

From my friend Chris in Alaska:

Someone took the time to nail the issues on this board game...

The object of the game is to destroy American capitalism.

How?

Simply, by having the government take over everything.

Wanna play? No?

Too bad, you're already playing.

And in this game, nobody wins....

... as we all lose our freedoms, one little throw of the dice at a time...

And new added Attraction! ObamaCare™, Don't get sick on it!

THE LAST WORD

"Capitalists don't view profits as evil or the product of greed. Their opponents -- call them Marxists, fascists, socialists, radical liberals or whatever -- do. Which brings us ... to Barack Obama. Both his father, Barack Obama Sr., and his mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, were communists. His church of choice was one of black liberation theology, whose Marxist roots are inarguable. He associated with far leftists on the 'organizing' streets of Chicago, including Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Mentorship and associations are one thing, but what have Obama's words and actions revealed about his attitudes toward labor, capital, profits and government control of business and industry? Well, he said that he would raise capital gains tax rates, even if it reduced revenues, as a matter of fairness. It's only fair to make everyone poorer if you believe profits are inherently evil. He told Joe the Plumber he wants to spread the wealth around. He talked about confiscating Exxon Mobil's profits and giving them to consumers, saying 'they are not going to give up those profits easily.' He called Chrysler creditors 'speculators' and castigated them for refusing to accept his extortionist reorganization plan. He berated Wall Street for making profits, saying 'now is not (the) time' for them to 'rake in profits.' He and his wife even railed against the pursuit of profit in their respective commencement addresses. He abused the power of his office to steal money from GM and Chrysler shareholders and transfer it to the proletariat, I mean, the United Auto Workers. He redistributed taxpayer money from those who have paid their mortgages to those who have not. He is desperately trying to spread the misery and impoverish businesses and individuals through his cap and tax plan, which no proponent of economic growth and prosperity would consider supporting. And in addition to gobbling up other businesses and industries, he is trying to nationalize medicine -- to siphon off the evil surplus value charged by doctors and insurance companies -- on the flawed Marxist theory that he can reduce costs overall, when the reason health care costs have already skyrocketed is that market forces have been suppressed in the industry. You don't have to call him a Marxist, but at least understand where his heart is." -- David Limbaugh

I would call Mr. Obama not only a Marxist, but a Fascist to boot, not to mention an unqualified Usurper to the Office he holds.

"Here's how to get a dubious bill into law, or at least past the U.S. House of Representatives, which of late has deserved to be called the lower chamber: -- First, make the bill long. Very long. So long no one may actually read it, supporters or opponents. Introduce a 310-page horse-choker of an amendment at 3 in the morning on the day of the roll-call vote. So it can't be examined too closely or too long. Only after the bill passes may its true costs emerge. ... -- Make sure that the bill itself, which was already 1,200 pages long before this super-sized amendment was added, surpasseth all understanding. (Which may be the only thing it has in common with the peace of God.) ... -- Insert all kinds of exceptions into the bill so those special interests that stand to benefit by them -- whether regional, economic or ideological -- will join the stampede. -- Coat the bill and the campaign for it with high-sounding sloganspeak, if not hysteria. Warn that The End Is Near unless this bill is passed, at least if you consider the year 2100 near. ... -- If necessary, change the subject at the last minute. Say, from climate change to creating jobs. And, hesto presto, though the vote may be close (219 to 212), a confusing bill can be on its way to becoming even more confusing law. Which is just what happened the other day in the U.S. House of Representatives. ... -- Forget the actual content of the bill, since few if any can understand it anyway. Instead, just recite talking points. It's a lot easier than actually thinking. ... Whoever said you never want to see sausage made or laws passed did a grave injustice to sausage-makers, who are surely engaged in a much more wholesome enterprise." --Arkansas Democrat-Gazette editor Paul Greenberg

Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit

I was a little stunned when I heard that Gov. Palin was resigning...I thought that it was because of the constant slanderous attacks against her family, but I had thought her tougher than that; Ms. Coulter has what may be the perfect explanation, and shows that Gov. Palin is indeed crazy, crazy like a fox! Here is her explanation:

Im confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly though she couldn'tt put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but its obvious.

Even though shes just a state governor, shes a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically cant participate because shes tethered to the governors office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also cant go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in because shes governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so shes leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

Its a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what shes doing. Contrary to Mark Sanfords e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didnt know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill OReilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but and she didnt say this part shes too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

Shell be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry both of whom went back to the Senate because their national campaigns diminished them. Palins national campaign made her a major star. As she said, shes not retreating, shes advancing in another direction.

History lesson for the 4th

On June 7, 1995, the Washington Times printed a letter to the editor from a man named Thomas Colton Ruthford in which he described the Nazis and how Hitler came to power and then abused that power. In light of current events, this letter could be quite chilling. There are those who say that "Those who will not learn from history are doomed to repeat it," but I would like to modify that and say that, "The only lesson we learn from history is that we don't learn from history."

************ ********* ********* ****

Letter to the Editor

6/7/95 - Arlington, Washington Times

During the past several months in the American press, the Democrats have frequently denounced the Republicans as Nazis due to their attempts to control runaway federal spending. How very ironic. I remember the Nazis. Let me share a little about them and recall some of their exploits.

First of all, "Nazi" was gutter slang for the verb "to nationalize" . The Bider-Mienhoff gang gave themselves this moniker during their early struggles. The official title of the Nazi Party was "The National Socialist Workers Party of Germany". Hitler and the Brownshirts advocated the nationalization of education, health care, transportation, national resources, manufacturing, distribution and law enforcement.

Hitler came to power by turning the working class, unemployed, and academic elite against the conservative republic. After der fuhrer's election ceased being a political conspiracy and was transformed into a fashionable social phenomenon, party membership was especially popular with educators, bureaucrats, and the press. Being a Nazi was politically correct. They called themselves "The Children of the New Age of World Order" and looked down their noses at everyone else. As Hitler accrued more power, he referred to his critics as "The Dark Forces of Anarchy and Hatred". Anyone who questioned Nazi high-handedness in the German press was branded a "Conservative Reactionary" . Joseph Goebbels, minister of communications, proclaimed a "New World Order".

The Nazi reign of terror began with false news reports on the Jews, Bohemians and Gypses who were said to be arming themselves to overthrow the "New World Order" and Hitler demanded that all good people register their guns so that they wouldn't fall into the hands of "terrorists and madmen". Right wing fanatics of the "Old Order" who protested firearms registration were arrested by the S.S. and put in jail for "fomenting hatred against the Government of the German people".

Then the Reichstag (government building) was blown up and Hitler ram-rodded an "Emergency Anti-Terrorist Act" through Parliament that gave the Gestapo extraordinary powers. The leader then declared that for the well-being of the German people, all private firearms were to be confiscated by the Gestapo and the Wermotten (federal law enforcement and military). German citizens who refused to surrender their guns when the "jack-boots" (Gestapo) came calling, were murdered in their homes. By the way, the Gestapo were the federal marshals' service of the Third Reich. The S.W.A.T. team was invented and perfected by the Gestapo to break into the homes of the enemies of the German people.

When the Policia Bewakken, or local police, refused to take away guns from townsfolk, they themselves were disarmed and dragged out into the street and shot to death by the S.A. and the S.S. Those were Nazi versions of the B.A.T.F. and the F.B.I. When several local ministers spoke out against these atrocities, they were imprisoned and never seen again.

The Gestapo began to confiscate and seize the homes, businesses, bank accounts, and personal belongings of wealthy conservative citizens who had prospered in the old Republic. Pamphleteers who urged revolt against the Nazis were shot on site by national law enforcement and the military. Gypsies and Jews were detained and sent to labor camps. Mountain roads throughout central Europe were closed to prevent the escape of fugitives into the wilderness, and to prevent the movement and concealment of partisan resistance fighters.

Public schools rewrote history and Hitler youth groups taught the children to report their parents to their teachers for anti-Nazi remarks. Such parents disappeared. Pagan animism became the state religion of the Third Reich and Christians were widely condemned as "right wing fanatics".

Millions of books were burned first and then people. Millions of them burned in huge ovens after they were first gassed to death. Unmarried women were paid large sums of money to have babies out of wedlock and then given medals for it. Evil was declared as being good, and good was condemned as being evil. World Order was coming and the German people were going to be the "peacekeepers" .

Yes, indeed, I remember the Nazis and they weren't Republicans, or "right wing", or "patriots" or "militias". They were Socialist monsters.

Does anything in the above history lesson resonate with you as to our current government administration's policies? If not, you need to wake up and look around. Today is the 233rd birthday of the American Republic...if the current trend continues, it will be the LAST birthday of the Republic.

Wake up people, don't let the promise of this great nation slip away from you; fight for it at the ballot box, and if need be, fight for it by force of arms in the streets.

Rant of the Week

Definition of a Veteran:

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America ", for an amount "up to and including my life."

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Photobucket

Our pResident sure doesn't understand the meaning of the word "Honor" . Instead, it seems that his goal in life is to apologize to every second and third world dictator for any American actions against them, both real or perceived, while he emulates their actions here at home.

He bows to the king of Saudi Arabia while treating the Head of State of our oldest ally as if she were the new kitchen maid.
He applauds a would-be dictator when that "democratically elected" President decides that his country's Constitution really shouldn't apply to him when it limits his term in office (thankfully, the military of that nation didn't forget THEIR oaths to that Constitution! Hope ours do the same if the same situation arises here !) He nationalizes our banking system and over a third of our automotive manufacturing with nothing more than a Presidential fiat, with the aid of a willing Congress and compliant Mass Media. He refuses to comply with a simple request mandated by our Constitution to prove that he's a native son; indeed, he spends hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting disclosure of what SHOULD be public record, and is aided and abetted in this by a Supreme Court that has abrogated it's main responsibility to uphold and protect the Constitution.

Tomorrow we celebrate the 233Rd birthday of our Nation. The Founders must be spinning in their graves to see what this last generation has done to their "Noble Experiment". I feel that if Patrick Henry were alive today he would be reminding us that the "roots of the Tree of Liberty needs replenishing from time to time with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants" and that the time to do so is coming overdue.

Please, find a Tea Party in your local area on this July the 4th and spend a few hours telling our government that We the People are still, and of a right SHOULD BE, in charge.

DON'T let Mr. Obama create a Federal cult of personality and run roughshod over the rights of our Citizens. We have the responsibility to take back the reins of power; whether it is done by persuasion at the ballot box, or by force of arms, may soon become the question.
If we do nothing, we deserve the chains that will be placed upon us, and we will DESERVE the condemnation placed upon our memories by our succeeding generations.

Just for Grins

A Girl Potato and Boy Potato had eyes for each other, and finally
they got married, and had a little sweet potato, which they called
'Yam.'

Of course, they wanted the best for Yam.
When it was time, they told her about the facts of life.

They warned her about going out
and getting half-baked, so she wouldn't get accidentally mashed, and get
a bad name for herself like 'Hot Potato,' and end up with a bunch of
Tater Tots

Yam said not to worry, no Spud would get her into the sack and make a
rotten potato out of her!

But on the other hand she wouldn't stay home and become a Couch Potato
either

She would get plenty of exercise so as not to be skinny like her
Shoestring cousins.

When she went off to Europe, Mr and Mrs. Potato told Yam to watch out
for the hard-boiled guys from Ireland
And the greasy guys from France called the French Fries. And when she
went out west, to watch out for the Indians so she wouldn't get
scalloped.

Yam said she would stay on the straight and narrow and wouldn't
associate with those high class Yukon Golds, or the ones from the other
side of the tracks who advertise their trade on all the trucks that say,
'Frito Lay.'

Mr. and Mrs. Potato sent Yam to Idaho P.U. (that's Potato University )
so that when she graduated she'd really be in the Chips.

But in spite of all they did for her, one-day Yam came home and
announced she was going to marry Tom Brokaw .

Tom Brokaw !

Mr. and Mrs. Potato were very upset.
They told Yam she couldn't possibly marry Tom Brokaw because he's
just......

Are you ready for this?

Are you sure?

Kentucky Blonde

A young blonde woman in Newport, Kentucky was so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the Ohio River. She went down to the docks and was about to leap into the frigid water when a handsome young sailor saw her tottering on the edge of the dock, crying. He took pity on her and said, "Look, you have so much to live for."

I'm off to Europe in the morning, and if you like, I can stow you away on my ship. I'll take good care of you and bring you food every day." Moving closer, he slipped his arm round her shoulder and added, "I'll keep you happy, warm and bring you food."

The blonde thought what do I have to lose? Perhaps a fresh start in Europe would give her life new meaning.
That night, the sailor brought her aboard and hid her in a lifeboat.
From then on, every night he brought her three sandwiches and a piece of fruit, and they made passionate love until dawn.

Three weeks later, during a routine inspection, the captain discovered her.
"I was stowed away by one of the sailors," she explained. "I get food and a trip to Europe , and he's screwing me."

"He certainly is," the captain said. "This is the Argosy Casino, and we never leave Lawrenceburg, Indiana."

H/T to Joanna M. Thanks for the laugh, Hon!
