Quote of the Day

Those who want the Government to regulate matters of the mind and spirit are like men who are so afraid of being murdered that they commit suicide to avoid assassination. -- Harry Truman

Stupid is as Stupid Does

Finally, someone has the guts to point out the obvious to a reporter. It gladdens me all the more that it was one of my birth countrymen that did it.
If your job is to report on sports, I would think that at least a basic knowledge of the sport and it's top players should be a prerequisite for you to get the job.

Quote of the Day

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse. ... A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."-- John Stuart Mill

Thank God that we still have enough of those "better men and women", for they are almost nonexistent within the current Administration itself.

"There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action." ~ Goethe

We can see the truism of that statement observing this Administration bumbling through everything it does...

Another Newfie Joke

A Newfie walks into a bar and he realizes it's a gay bar. But what the heck, he says to himself, "I can really use a drink."

When the gay waiter approaches, he says to the Newfie, "What's the name of your weewee?" The Newfie says, "Look, I'm not into any of that, all I want is a drink." The gay waiter says, "I'm sorry but I can't serve you until you tell me the name of your weewee. Mine for instance is called Nike, for the slogan 'Just Do It,' and that guy down at the end of the bar calls his, Snickers, because it really 'Satisfies.'"

The newfie looks dumbfounded so the bartender tells him he will give him a second to think it over. So the Newfie asks the man sitting to his left, who is sipping on a beer, "Hey bud, what's the name of yours?" The man looks back and says with a smile "Timex," and the thirsty Newfie asks, "Why Timex?" The fella proudly replies, "Cause it takes a lickin'and keeps on tickin!"

A little shaken, the Newfie turns to two fellas on his right, who happen to be sharing a fruity Margarita and says, "So, what do you guys call yours?" The first man turns to him and proudly exclaims, "FORD, because Quality is Job One." Then he adds, "Have you driven a Ford lately?" The guy next to him then says, "I call mine CHEVY, 'Like A Rock.'" and gives a wink.

Even more shaken the Newfie has to think for a moment before he comes up with a name. He exclaims, "The name of my weewee is 'SECRET.' Now give me a beer.."

The bartender begins to pour the Newfie a beer, but with a puzzled look asked, "Why Secret?"

The Newfie says, "Because it's STRONG ENOUGH FOR A MAN, BUT MADE FOR A WOMAN."

Dedicated to Beth, My Angel of the Morning

Photobucket

I was lonely, sad, and blue until
The day that I meet you.
You came into my life and changed
It around turned my frown upside down.
When we are near my knees feel weak.
Then there are no words left to speak.
Fear arises but joy remains this I know will never change.
I'm falling for you don't know if you
Feel it too, but I know what I feel is true.
How did this happen I don't know,
This feeling I have now it scares me so.
I never thought I could feel this way once again.
Then the day came and I meet you
My heart opened up and love grew.
Girl, now I'm telling you I'm falling hopelessly in love with you.

2. AVOID ARGUMENTS WITH THE FEMALES ABOUT LIFTING THE TOILET SEAT BY USING THE SINK.

3.. FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE SUFFERERS ~ SIMPLY CUT YOURSELF AND BLEED FOR A FEW MINUTES, THUS REDUCING THE PRESSURE ON YOUR VEINS. REMEMBER TO USE A TIMER.

4. A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROLLING OVER AND GOING BACK TO SLEEP AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON.

5. IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH, TAKE A LARGE DOSE OF LAXATIVES.. THEN YOU'LL BE AFRAID TO COUGH.

DON'T Mess with Nuns!!

THREE NUNS WERE ATTENDING A YANKEE BASEBALL GAME.

THREE MEN WERE SITTING DIRECTLY BEHIND. BECAUSE THEIR HABITS WERE PARTIALLY BLOCKING THE VIEW, THE MEN DECIDED TO BADGER THE NUNS HOPING THAT THEY'D GET ANNOYED ENOUGH TO MOVE TO ANOTHER AREA.

IN A VERY LOUD VOICE, THE FIRST GUY SAID,

"I THINK I'M GOING TO MOVE TO UTAH . THERE ARE ONLY 100 NUNS LIVING THERE."

THEN THE SECOND GUY SPOKE UP AND SAID,
"I WANT TO GO TO MONTANA . THERE ARE ONLY 5O NUNS LIVING THERE."

THE THIRD GUY SAID,

"I WANT TO GO TO IDAHO . THERE ARE ONLY 25 NUNS LIVING THERE."

THE MOTHER SUPERIOR TURNED AROUND, LOOKED AT THE MEN, AND IN A VERY SWEET AND CALM VOICE SAID,

"WHY DON'T YOU GO TO HELL... THERE AREN'T ANY NUNS THERE!"

Another PC Idiot shows her true colors

Meghan McCain went on The View the other day and showed her ignorance when she stated:

"Congressman Tancredo went on TV, and he was the first opening speaker, and he said, "People who could not even spell the word 'vote' or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House whose name is Barack Hussein Obama." And then he went on to say that people at the convention should have to pass literacy tests in order to be able to vote in this country, which is the same thing that happened in the 50s to prevent African-Americans from voting. It's innate racism, and I think it's why young people are turned off by this movement. And I'm sorry, but revolutions start with young people, not with 65-year-old people talking about literacy tests and people who can't say the word 'vote' in English."

Miss McStain is just another example of the ignorant PC indoctrinated"intelligentsia" produced by our higher education system.

You might want to read some REAL history books Meghan. The average age of our Founding Fathers in 1776 was 43.8 years of age, in an era when the life expectancy at birth was 33.

Here is a list of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and their ages at the signing:

FIVE people under 30 out of a group of sixty-one ..

Those five must have had some REALLY powerful mojo to lead the the other fifty-six founders to agree to revolt against the Crown. And remember, most of the Founders were in the upper classes of Colonial society; they had the best life possible under the British regime, they were the type of people that had the most to lose if the Revolution were to be unsuccessful and at the time the British army was the most powerful on Earth, so the outcome was far from certain. The Founders were radicals in that they believed that the freedom of the individual was the paramount ideal, and they were willing to risk their own high societal status, and their very lives, to gain that freedom.

As far as literacy goes, I believe it would be a good idea to have a test before being allowed to vote. Do you really believe that someone who can't be bothered to gain a basic level of literacy in this era of state provided education is really someone qualified to make important political decisions?

Ditto with not being able to communicate in English. If you want to participate as a citizen of a country, you should at least make a basic effort to speak that countries language. Providing ballots and election materials in foreign languages is just asinine. There is NO other country in the world that does that.

A certain segment of politicians are pushing the multi-lingual agenda for their own selfish partisan agenda and/or in the basest interest of just getting re-elected in perpetuity, even though that agenda is destructive to the basic principles of our country.

THE REDNECK VASECTOMY

An oldie but a goodie....

After their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed.

So the husband went to his doctor and told him that he and his cousin didn't want to have any more children.

The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive. "A less costly alternative," said the doctor, "is to go home, get a cherry bomb, (fireworks are legal in Alabama) light it, put it in a beer can, then hold
the can up to your ear and count to 10.."

The Alabamian said to the doctor, "I may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me."

"Trust me," said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count!

"1"

"2"

"3"

"4"

"5"

At which point he paused, placed the beer can between his legs and continued counting on his other hand.

This procedure also works in Tennessee , Kentucky , Louisiana , Arkansas , Mississippi , Missouri , West Virginia and Washington DC .....

Bipartisanship, Progressive Style

Photobucket

Barack Obama has proposed a bipartisan health care summit for later this month that Republican detractors bill as a publicity stunt designed to generate more support for the flailing pro-abortion health care bill. Now, an aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi essentially admitted thats the case.

Nancy Pelosis top health care aide admitted to the National Health Policy Conference hosted by Academy Health and Health Affairs that the bipartisan health care summit later this month is a trick.

Republicans should be wary of attending this conference, We the People are watching and We WILL remember in November.

On Patroitism

Nicki Fellinger over at The Liberty Zone has written an essay on the meaning of true Patriotism.

Here is a little taste:

Patriotism is defending all rights, no matter how difficult or distasteful. Patriotism is recognizing and loving the fundamental principles that protect those rights. That is what our men and women in the military do every day. Voltaire once wrote, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." That is the code American service members live by every day. They have sworn to protect, not the government, not politicians, but the very fundamental principles that make us America.

Patriotism is the love of those ideals that make this nation great. Honor, courage, freedom, opportunity and equality. Patriotism is not blind, unquestioning worship of those in power because their words are pretty and their platitudes are powerful. Patriotism is questioning your government... and the courage to voice those doubts. Patriotism is not blind condemnation of government, no matter what. Patriotism is the ability to reason and the courage to be reasonable. Patriotism is having the self control and the discipline not to whip out the patriotism card every time another voices a view with which you disagree.

Do yourself a favor and go read the rest.

I agree with Nicki 100% with every word she has spoken. (whiping out my own immigrant card) I understand what she meant when she said:

These are the principles and ideals that prompted me to enlist in the Army after graduating from one of the top universities in the country, instead of going to work at some high-powered corporation, making tons of money. These are the principles and ideals that allowed me to choose my future and my destiny, based on my own value system."

I too was prompted by those same principles to wear this country's uniform. It was important to me that I contribute in some small way to protecting those Principles that allowed me the freedoms I enjoy as an American. Honor demanded nothing less.

I think that all too many natural-born Americans take what this nation offers for granted; it almost seems that you have to experience how other nations operate to really appreciate the freedom we enjoy here every day. That is the only explanation I can come up for why so many of our citizens are standing silent while allowing those freedoms to be eroded a little every day...
