![]() Khaki and cream create a soft, easy base that reads polished rather than plain. A pop of tangerine adds festive energy without tipping into costume territory. It is the kind of combination that feels intentional without trying too hard. ![]() Chocolate Brown and Olive Chocolate acts like a warmer black. It is rich, grounding, and flattering. Olive adds depth without competing. Together they feel elevated and sophisticated, the sort of look that is refined without being fussy. ![]() Charcoal and Mustard Charcoal provides a cool-leaning neutral. Mustard, ideally a golden or slightly muted ochre rather than pure yellow, injects warmth. The contrast is clean, modern, and perfectly polished for anyone who wants a fall feel without traditional earth tones. ![]() Burgundy and Blush Pink The season’s most talked-about pairing. Burgundy brings depth and richness while blush pink softens it and lifts the overall look. The tension between deep and delicate feels slightly unexpected. It is festive without being obvious. ![]() For the Gentlemen A cable-knit or fine-gauge sweater in burgundy, olive, or chocolate over tailored trousers or dark denim, finished with loafers or clean sneakers, is more than enough. A navy blazer adds polish without formality. ![]() Thanksgiving is about gathering and good company. The right outfit simply lets you enjoy this time with a gentle nod to the season instead of looking like you were styled by the centerpiece. It frees you up to worry about more pressing matters, like the cranberry sauce setting or remembering to take the biscuits out of the oven before the smoke alarm goes off. Not that this has ever happened, of course. ----- Thanks, Piper! ![]() Tonight's ONT brought to you by math ideas ![]() (If we had learned this, maybe math would be allowed on the blog!) Tonight's ONT brought to you by math ideas
--------- The tape measure brings to mind the A&W Root Beer campaign that compared the new A&W one-third lb. burger to the similarly-priced McD Quarter Pounder. When A&W hired a consumer research outfit to find out why its burger wasn't selling, it found that most of its customers thought a 1/3 lb burger was smaller than a 1/4 pounder. Four is bigger than three after all. That made the McD burger a better value. These people vote. The first one to break away is going to cause a collapse. Here it looks like Haley is the first one, and there is going to be a collapse. If the CDU wanted to keep AfD out of power they had an easy move to make. Offer a real, binding immigration moratorium. If the issue the left has with AfD is they are NAZIs then surely they'd agree right? And AfD popularity would plummet. And CDU would pick up almost all the AfD votes. Now there is only one logical explanation for this - the CDU knows AfD aren't NAZIs and in fact the issue MOST important for them is flooding the country with foreign invaders because their current policies and statements support exactly that view of the world. Polish opposition is becoming united against Tusk and are following the President's recommendation so far about his proposal of a reset of the constitutional court, requiring 3/5's majority for the new appointments, etc.
Tusk is insisting that his 'judges' must be seated but the problem is that the remaining justices on the court have announced that they will boycott a scheduled official meeting if Tusk tries to force that. Quorum is ten, Tusk appointed eight, several of these in contravention of Polish law and Constitution. Currently 15 on court and the court budget must be passed in the next couple of days. Without a quorum, court cannot operate nor without a budget. So we see if Tusk doubles down. Ultimately it rests with police and the army. The police appear to be getting queasy about supporting an increasingly unpopular Tusk and his partisans in their power grab. And the Army permitted the President's plane to land at Warsaw against orders apparently of the Prime Minister Tusk. EU so far is radio silent on the matter which is shredding its own credibility in other Euro countries and abroad as word gets around about this. There are reports, that some of the police illegally did not have name plates nor badge numbers on their helmets. Polish Police Union criticized the government as they claim that the police were told they were to go to Warsaw to protect a large public event, not prevent the President from going into the Constitutional Tribunal building nor the judges that work there.
A rumor is floating around that some of these police could not appear to understand Polish and might have been German which if true, will set off a political bomb in both Germany and Poland. Rumor is damaging enough. Plus the crowd caught a agent provocateur armed in the crowd and shoved him into a police car. Identified as a 'freelance security guy' that had special service in Ukraine. They're in WAY better physical shape than most cops, and the very nature of the profession appeals to a Zero Fucks Given personality type.
One of my neighbors is a Portland fireman. He's in his late 50s - early 60s, and is in the best shape of any 60-ish person I've ever seen. Middle-aged cops are allowed to get fat - middle-aged fireman apparently are not. Posted by: The ARC of History! at November 01, 2026 10:57 PM (aD4fx) 172
Interestingly the Krauts have been forming an armed brigade in Lithuania - so one assumes they could march in from two directions if they want to
And yes all of this actually reminds one a lot of Germany in WWII - they had units in Prussia and mainland Germany invading. - Do we have any carriers in the area? Posted by: Methos, inauthentic X-bot account at November 01, 2026 11:00 PM (vSvIl) 173
Thanks for the heads up. Went back and got it.
Ben Had got pissed off last year watching me move big heavy stuff to help her, and then seeing my hands shake trying to sign the gun safety waiver sheet. Ben gave me a hand strength exerciser at this year's TXMoMe. Ben Had is certainly a peach. Posted by: Pillage Idiot Shaky hands can be a side effect of some medications like Amiodarone for example. FIL got falsely diagnosed with Parkinsons due to that and we had to take him to Emory to get him correctly diagnosed. FIL had a bad hometown neurologist that damn near medicated him to death. Chinese doc with a Chinese medical degree did the misdiagnosis. Posted by: whig at November 01, 2026 11:00 PM (E4rtv) 174

I think we are going to do better than expected on Tuesday but there is no chance we will ever lose to these freaks in the long run no matter what happens in any election. Cause we will never stop.
Ever. ---- I think so too. I think that Trump has so many "in case of emergency, break glass" things in place that we will hold the House and Senate. And if they cheat us out of that and attempt whatever things they have in their wet dreams...good luck to them...we'll fight back this time, unlike during Covid when we didn't. Posted by: The ARC of History! I think most of the German offensive weapons including tanks, masses of ammo, etc. were given to Ukraine. Their airforce readiness is a joke, and training is substandard for their Bundeswehr. It will take Fuhrer Merz much longer to rearm than this crisis will take to resolve. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at November 01, 2026 10:42 PM (eRlcH) They don't have a EU army, just the individual states. The only one that might pull an invasion off is Germany, and that is problematical Posted by: Kindltot at November 01, 2026 11:04 PM (rbvCR) 181

I just went outside to to pee on the grass, and was staring straight South and idly wondering why the neighbor's big shop was not lit up, and I saw a bright red meteor fall out of the sky, moving NNE-SSW. Spanned only a short arc, but it was very bright.

Referat 🇵🇱 @AntyKomuszek · 5h Translated from Polish People went to the graves of their loved ones, lit candles, reminisced, prayed. Tomorrow they'll head off to work for their GDP. Tomorrow the chatter about the little dictator will start up too. There'll be defenders of that German oaf, but most folks will still get pissed off at the crap he's pulling. Interesting if true,
GRANDPA’s FREE ADVICE @GOP_is_Gutless · 17h Missouri solved illegal immigration. Other states just complain. The Show-Me State didn’t talk — it acted: • 2008: 90% of voters made English the official language. No government services in any other language. • Cops must verify immigration status on arrest and report illegals to the feds. • Zero access to food stamps or Missouri HealthNet. • No taxpayer-funded financial aid for illegals at any public college — and schools must certify compliance every year. Result: Missouri has almost no illegals. They simply aren’t welcome, and they get nothing from taxpayers. Arizona and others spent years grandstanding while Missouri quietly locked the door. The media ignores it because the results expose the open-border failure everywhere else. Other states could do the same. They choose not to. #Missouri #IllegalImmigration #AmericaFirst Posted by: whig at November 01, 2026 11:14 PM (E4rtv) 194
