I like this. Reminds me of the feel of rural New England winters. The figures of the people and animals are a little stiff for my taste but the buildings and landscape are wonderful. And he really captured the light of such a day. You can almost see the wisps as the animals and people breathe in the cold air. He catches the era and season by showing the sleigh and sledge instead of a carriage or cart. People who thrived despite winter and took advantage of the snow.
It could be a scene from "A Reverence For Wood" by Eric Sloane, one of my favorite books. In the section dealing with early America he describes a scene very much like this based on records and local history. Check out Durrie's Wiki page. Some of his landscapes are dramatic and effective. Yes, I would hang this and some of his others. The winter landscapes would be nice to look at in July. Posted by: JTB at November 02, 2026 09:52 AM (yTvNw) 100

Prayers to all the families involved. 🚨 CONFIRMED BY FAMILY: 20-YEAR-OLD CO-PILOT IDENTIFIED IN DEADLY FLORIDA LEARJET CRASH Nathalia Gadelha, just 20 years old, has been identified by her mother and stepfather as the co-pilot aboard the Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, killing all nine people on board. Nathalia could fly an airplane before she could legally drive a car. In October 2023, she was featured in a local news interview as a 17-year-old senior at West Boca Raton High School. She had earned her private pilot’s license the previous month and had already accumulated 88 hours of flight time. Her passion for aviation began years earlier. Her father started flying recreationally in 2018 and helped introduce her to aviation. Nathalia began ground school in 2020, while still a teenager. Her public-school aviation program helped fund her flight training. Posted by: rickb223 at November 02, 2026 10:07 AM (izikm) Posted by: man at November 02, 2026 10:08 AM (pfXMo) 143

Obama-appointed U.S. District Chief Judge James E. Boasberg, long criticized as a “Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge,” gave the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) and its UCLA Voting Rights Project allies tightly restricted access to the Trump Department of Justice’s list of more than 20,000 people federal investigators flagged as likely noncitizens who received mail ballots in California.
The court order was crystal clear: the data was for standing arguments only. Plaintiffs could not disclose names and could not use the information for broader political or media attacks on the government’s election-integrity efforts. That restriction lasted roughly 24 hours. Being it was flying from Austin there is also the fact that the tanks were probably at least half empty which makes for bigger fireballs. Fuller tanks = less oxigen present at compression. 1/4 full tanks are supposed to be the worst. At least that's how I remember it from aviation science in HS.

The pilot(s) in the doomed aircraft tried to "pull back" on the controls to raise the plane's nose.... but it was in a tightening roll to the right and descending at a steep angle. That input tightened the turn and bank even more.

Some news reports show that the plane headed directly into a red storm cell on the weather radar. Something they should have seen from the plane's radar.

Just crush and pulverize the circuit boards, and leach out the gold with dilute sodium cyanide solution, same as has been done with gold ore for a century or more. I'm assuming they were on an IFR flight plan. Even with on-board radar, you're still in contact with ARTCC who are advising you. Time will tell as more info becomes available. Posted by: Halfhand at November 02, 2026 11:27 AM (CZuvr) Processing 0.05, elapsed 0.057 seconds. |
