72 A delightful image of the sea shore after a storm. The wet rocks and sand now drying, the gentle blue of the sky, and the sharp shadows of the returned sun. The rocks that have withstood the water's attacks for millennia are weathered but still solid, adding to the sense of relief in the painting. The door in the rocks and the impression of an entrance on the lower left I can't explain but it is intriguing.

Courbet belonged to the Realism school of French art, where they paint only what they see. Courbet took that approach and still managed to add layers of meaning and emotion very effectively.

BTW, check out Courbet's Wiki page. It includes the range of subjects he covered: seascapes, nudes (yay!), and some gorgeous still life paintings. Worth the time.

135 And now the head-shaking cases start to surface. In IA, a state legislative candidate with serious health problems dropped out in September. He was comfortably elected in a GOP-leaning district, anyway. In a state-level TX race, a woman candidate who was convicted of a felony and suspended her campaign was elected.

In the 2010 wave election (I believe bigger in scope than even this cycle, down to county level), a deceased CA incumbent was re-elected. And not a single incumbent was defeated (IIRC), illustrating the total death of competitive politics in CA (this was 16 years ago).

159 Have to check with a friend who's quite expert and dig into the job numbers, but as I've noted for a few days, about all of the key macro numbers/trends are positive, some markedly so, and all directly attributable to Trump policies that are working (they're all pretty obvious familiar common sense policies, but his administration actually implements them).

The economic agony is unbearable, of course, because that's what I'm told (even though it is multiples better on every score than 2-3 years ago, when economic pain wasn't even a topic). But it was important to elect masses of Dems who've offered literally not a single actual policy idea (they have none) to "improve" a rapidly improving situation.

Do you want an honest and informed answer?

We have a troll problem because of the commenters who have the self-control of toddlers, who can't resist engaging with them, thereby giving the trolls exactly what they want.

A better troll mitigation plan would probably be to ban the people who engage with them.

I saw those tweets showing counties that shifted left. It’s not unexpected that in a wave election counties will shift. Even all counties in some states.

2020 to 2024 thousands of counties all over the country shifted. Included deep blue counties that shifted towards Trump . It’s how change elections work.

Through the Obama years, through the Biden years, I did very little to oppose their project, i.e. the looting and ultimate destruction of the United States. I voted, donated some money, did my job, paid my taxes. It appears that the Left is winning.

I haven't really made any trouble for them. My vote is meaningless, my taxes pay for them and their friends. If I can believe what they say, they're coming for me.

Maybe it's time for a new approach.

251 Is that the natural arch that collapsed when a nitwit American was taking selfies on it this past summer? Haven't read upthread.

It could be another natural arch in Europe.

I love Impressionism, however, he was a realist and painted what he saw in later fashion.

I think I first related to Monet and others in college (I'd check out art books to look at paintings on Sundays). This was my day of ironing nursing school uniforms, writing papers, and studying like crazy. Those art books were my one hour break of not reading a single word.

I love to read and rarely read for fun for those 2.5yrs of hard labor and stuffing my brain with stuff to be a good nurse and pass state boards.

Monet was myopic and then had cataracts as he got older, which is why his paintings were so soft with no edges.

I was terribly myopic from age 10yrs, after measles at 8yrs. My brother and I both did this with parents never needing glasses, and baby brother who had the MMR vaccine as a baby.

Monet's paintings were how I saw the world before I put on my glasses or contact lenses. Cataract surgery gave me 20/20 vision again and I love it!

This painting, 'The Cliff at Etretat after the Storm' & The Morning Report's Wise Words From Rush Limbaugh: ‘It’s Never Time to Panic.’

Good thoughts. Give it to God.

Good weekend, kids.
