Halloween Miscellany

Content remaining after some disappeared:

One of the greatest ironies of the COVID era, for me, was watching people whose self-concept revolved around championing multiculturalism, Indigenous wisdom, and respect for non-Western traditions suddenly demand absolute conformity to a single Western biomedical approach to health.

Traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and countless Indigenous healing traditions around the world emphasize the health of the whole organism, its environment, and the cultivation of balance and resilience over fighting a particular pathogen.

Yet during COVID, discussions of these perspectives—overall health, fitness, mental health, nutrition, and internal balance—were met with ridicule and even censorship, while people who refused the novel allopathic pharmaceutical intervention were excluded from most aspects of society.

It was so dark that it was hard to appreciate the parody. People whose entire cultural narrative revolved around multiculturalism were insisting that everyone conform to the dominant Western biomedical establishment—a system consolidated through Rockefeller-era reforms, backed by oil wealth, that marginalized traditional approaches to medicine.

Anyone who refused to conform to the system during the Covid era was treated as an ignorant savage, too stupid or dangerous to participate in society.

And anyone who practiced holistic medicine and rejected the novel allopathic intervention was labeled "hesitant"—someone who needed to be "educated." The colonial irony was breathtaking. Here were the self-appointed champions of Indigenous wisdom, assuming the familiar role of the enlightened colonizer, arriving to educate the ignorant savages out of their supposedly primitive beliefs.

The Founding

October 31, A Daily Dose of the American Rev

On this day in 1780 General Nathanael Greene wrote George Washington, expressing his great concern over the condition of the army in the Southern Department (of which he was about to assume command) and describing his pleas for arms and provisions. “I shall have the satisfaction of having done all in my power,” he concludes, “and if there is not public spirit enough in the people to defend their liberties, they will well deserve to be slaves.” The entire letter is a good read and a very interesting look at how desperate the situation was as the fateful year 1781 approached.

Philadelphia October 31st 1780

Sir,

On my arrival at this place I laid your Excellency’s letter before Congress and addressed them on the business of the Southern department. I am happy to inform you that my appointment is perfectly agreeable to their views and wishes. But I am sorry to acquaint you that from the best account I can get of the state and condition of the troops in that quarter, nothing is to be expected from them, unless large supplies can be forwarded from the Northward. They are altogether without clothing and blankets, and totally unfit for any kind of service. To carry them into the field in this condition will only fill the hospitals and sacrifice the lives of a great many valuable men. Arms are not less wanting than Clothing, and Waggons as much as either. Men I believe may be had if it was in our power to equip them for the field. But how we shall do this is difficult for me to imagine. Congress can furnish no money, and the Board of War neither clothing or other necessaries. Indeed the prospect is dismal, and truly distressing.

I beg your Excellency to urge unceasingly the necessity of forwarding supplies for the southern Army, as it will be impossible to carry on a winters campaign without clothing.

I have laid before Congress an estimate of our wants; but there is not the shadow of a prospect of their being furnished unless constant attention is paid to the business. And I am apprehensive as soon as I am gone, and no one left to urge our wants they will soon be forgotten.

The late success of the Militia against Col. Ferguson, I am in hopes will be attended with good consequences. It will give a severe check to the Tories and spirit and confidence to the Whigs. A report prevails this day that Lord Cornwallis has retreated precipitately from Charlotte, towards Camden.

The detachments of the Enemy that sailed lately from New York are landed at Portsmouth in Virginia; and it is said the shipping are pushing up the rivers. The troops have taken possession of the great bridge, by which I am told they command all the lower Counties.

How to employ our little force if we are attacked both in Virginia and N. Carolina at the same time is difficult to determine. My first object will be to equip a flying Army to consist of about eight hundred horse and one thousand Infantry. This force with the occasional aid of the Militia will serve to confine the enemy in their limits and render it difficult for them to subsist in the interior country.

I see but little prospect of getting a force to contend with the enemy upon equal grounds and therefore must make the most of a kind of partizan war until we levy and equip a larger force.

Such was the difficulty of getting provisions and providing the means of transportation that Genl Gates writes in his last letter that the Army was in the utmost danger of disbanding.

Congress have invested me with the same powers they gave to Genl Gates, and annexed Maryland and Delaware to the Southern department.
The arrangement of the Army has taken place, and I hope upon a footing which will render it more respectable than it has been, provided the business of Finance can be got into some regular order: but that is our weak side; and I wish our distresses may be painted in their true colours to the Minister of France, as he intimated to Baron Steuben that your Excellency did not appear to be apprehensive of any difficulty from the state of our affairs.

I have made application to the Merchants of this city for clothing for the Southern army; but they excused themselves as having engaged more already than they can perform. I intend to try to put subscriptions on foot in Maryland and Virginia for the purpose of supplying clothing. Whether it will produce any good or not time only can determine. At any rate I shall have the satisfaction of having done all in my power; and if there is not public spirit enough in the people to defend their liberties, they will well deserve to be slaves.

General Knox promised to send forward a company of Artillery if your Excellency approved thereof I wish they may come forward without loss of time. This State have promised to lend me one thousand stand of Arms upon a promise of their being replaced which I beg your Excellency to give an order for, as this was the only footing they could be obtained upon. I have the honor to be With every sentiment of respect and esteem Your Excellency’s Most Obedient Humble Servant.

27 Brief tangiential: Ross Bagdasarian aka Dave Seville & the Chipmunks

"Shana Alexander, Life magazine in 1959, noted that Bagdasarian was the first case in the "annals of popular music that one man has served as writer, composer, publisher, conductor and multiple vocalist of a hit record, thereby directing all possible revenues from the song back into his pocket." Alexander also found it remarkable that Bagdasarian "can neither read nor write music nor play any musical instrument in the accepted sense of the word."[38] Bagdasarian owned Chipmunk Enterprises, which sponsored Chipmunk-related sales. By 1963, some 15 companies were using or planned to use Alvin figures. By that year, Billboard magazine estimated the total income from the Chipmunks' record sales (including overseas sales) and record club sales to be around $20 million ($161 million adjusted for inflation in 2025 dollars).

31 I was wondering the other day about Germany. The German state today is a combination of principalities, regions and other sorts of unusual political entities, which were pulled together into a unified (for given value of Unified) through eliciting pan-Germanic themes of culture, land, custom and language. This was done in the face of the fact that the various German peoples actively disliked each other and remembered what they had done to each other since the fall of Rome, and before.
The current left and greens are striving mightily to erase that history, custom and language in the favor of globalism, and I wonder what will happen when the common ties holding the German peoples together are gone.

Now apply this globally. To not only all cultures and regions. Apply it to business. Apply it to why Nation-States did what they did for a few hundred years recently.

And set it in tune with the Industrial Revolution.

Now ... this will all change when that great, big, beautiful Internet gets chopped up. And it will.

I think the resignation of LaGarde at the Euro Central Bank and Tusk's coup are related. I think the EU is having a US Dollar liquidity problem which is why they continue the war on Russia and have to get Eastern Europe into the Eurozone despite the fact that none of them meet the legal requirements. One of those sticking points is the Polish Constitutional Court (TK) has held Polish Constitution and sovereignty on some matters is NOT under the EU courts. von Leyden cannot have this. Tusk plans to move Poland to the Euro, that requires putting Polish gold into the common EU reserve, and Poland has to accept at a minimum 100k migrants (their fair share). To do this, Tusk has to have the Constitutional Court taken over.

48 Thus the adamant refusal to end the war in Ukraine via their puppet thief Zelinsky. Eurozone desperately needs those frozen Russian assets to backstop their financial system (about 275 billion or so). They have tried repeatedly to take it but first Orban in Hungary and later Trump prevented that. So to recoup the useless billions they spent on Ukraine, they proposed issuing bonds based on the interest payments (which they steal) on the frozen Russian assets.

This is war for the sake of bankers in the EU and their lackey politicians. Russia would do the world a favor by simply targeting the next WEF and/or Bilderburg, Atlantic Council, etc. meeting with missiles.

Senegal's stability is extremely rare in Africa, never had a coup, had elections on a regular basis, no wars with neighbors, no tribe v. tribe slaughters, etc. etc.

Like Botswana, one of the rare islands of stability in a chaotic Africa.

What is not reported is that Nawrocki was accompanied by former Polish special forces types. Senegal is worried about the Wagner group and Prigozhin's son running it. Has become an outright warlord and drug trafficker in West Africa threatening stability in adjoining countries.

Now reports are that the military refused the President's request to land at the military airport but the pilots did it anyway.

It appears that a Tusk whose party got only about 30 percent of the vote in 2023 was trying to exile the President elected nationwide in 2025 with over 50 percent of the vote.

64 EU and Canadian economic behavior is so unhinged conspiracy theories pop up effortlessly.

I'd say their behavior is logical.

Their host ... US ... seems tired and pissy. They're flailing about to figure out what to do next.

Most illogical is the old-heads that just can't stand to let the EU go, and build a fence along the Canadian border.

66 49 I think entire EU financial structure is about to come unglued. Continued.

Economists who aren't retarded have said the EU is financially untenable since before it happened. The EU itself is of course doing all of the worst possible things to accelerate the ungluing though.

Currency unions are a bad idea because each EU country has different productivity, different taxes, etc. etc. Conglomerating all of them into a mess has enervated Germany which originally benefitted, led to stupid overspending by the EU Southern countries, led to nosebleed tax rates in productive EU states like Netherlands, etc.

And was always designed as a political, not economic, way to make the EU a superpower. And the whole Euro project has failed and now the bill is coming due.

The truth is the EU Central Bank is held together by debt and that debt is causing serious destruction of EU economies under the Euro. Now, like any failing empire, the quest is on to bring in new territories to loot them to preserve the status quo a bit longer. Or end up in a war with Russia that destroys the debt by repudiation.

67 I sang the Witch Doctor song in front of kindergartners with a coworker (who late said, not a singer, but a musician) at the local grade school.

The teachers were aghast. Kindergarteners were puzzled, and a preschool kid, one that rode on my bus, said "Mr. [NaCly], we said NO singing."

One of the reasons why Poland has done so well economically is that they still have their own currency, and aren't locked into the Euro.

I think it is more to the point that the EU is realizing that its salad days of bleeding the US via unfair trade and making the US defend them from stupid actions is done. And even Obama, while he spoke nice to the Euros and played around with some of their idiocies like the Color Revolt in Ukraine, announced a pivot to Asia.

Our future trade is more with Asia than a dying and tired EU and thus NATO is essentially a dead weight expenditure on the necessary security measures that the US needs to have to guard its commerce there. That does not include a large army and prepositioned expensive logistics based in Europe.

With Iran, the Euros again show their uselessness by trying to restrict US base usage and if we cannot use those bases for real challenges (that primarily benefit the Euros and our Asian allies now), then we no longer need them at all.

Every European country that is still vigorous is not in the Euro zone nor accepting masses of migrants. Every country within the Eurozone is dying and the EU dictating massive migrants brought in that do nothing than consume is simply an idiotic Keynesian idea economically. It destroys the government bottom line because borderline retards are never going to be able to support the massive social spending Europe does nor provide much other than menial labor for any hi tech modern economy.

Socially and politically, it destroys the civil societies in those countries because Islamic hordes have no intention to become Europeans but to conquer.

Tusk has German ancestors including one grandfather who served in the Wehrmacht. Patriotic Poles call him a mutt serving van Leyden.

But Tusk (because of German pressure) has cancelled multiple big infrastructure projects that would lead to economic advances like new port facilities, etc. Each of these projects that began under the opposition have been cancelled and Poles noticed that only Germany would benefit from these cancellations.

US so far has refused to support the EU directly stealing it so now the EU is trying to issue bonds based on interest from the frozen assets. That means a permanent state of war between Ukraine and Russia. Orban blocked the original plan and so had to go. I'd imagine it is now back on the table again.

It is simply time to disband NATO lock stock and barrel. Like China with its Panda face and its Dragon face, the EU does a similar fan dance with NATO stroking US egos and EU crapping on us at every chance.

We should revert to bilateral treaties instead of these hideous multinational borgs that always seem to be getting into Uncle Sam's pocketbook and putting us on the hook for Americans dying for countries that can't or won't defend themselves and are even now allowing massive invasions disguised as migrants. Screw that deal.

Like trade, sign with countries that deal with us fairly and ignore the rest.
