Halloween Cafe

jackolanternattwillight.jpg

House tricked out with Ghostbusters themed projections.

The story of the Headless Horsemen, from the Disney cartoon, sung by Bing Crosby.

Creepy yard decoration. I'm not sure how it's done. I have a guess, but I'm not sure. Towards the end you can see a wire holding it down.

Michael Myers wants your attention.

An Ace Ventura costume.

Anti-oposum decorations.

The obligatory dog Halloween costumes.

The perfect costume for a yowly dog.

A local station used to run a Halloween Dance commercial. It's not good. Coincidentally, a commenter, maybe nurse ratched, linked this in the comments today. But I had already had it in this post. (I've been collecting Halloweeney links for a few weeks.)

Terrifying.

Could this be real? I mean, I know it's not a ghost. But is it AI or a clever bit of crafting?

De children of de night... what sweet nose-boops they give.

Saturday morning commercials from October 25, 1980. Includes a commercial for Zany Zappers. Here's a direct link. I don't remember that particular ad. I think maybe I remember this one. And if you have Zany Zappers, you're gonna want to pick up Mr. Microphone too.

Spooky board game commercials.

"Cry Little Sister" from The Lost Boys. Don't blame me, Garrett told me to post it.

In True Stories of TikTok Witchcraft, a witch asked women (of course) to send in the names of the men who had wronged them. She intended a mass spell that would curse all of these male-factors in one fell swoop. Unfortunately, the women who submitted the names were cursed themselves -- getting fired out of the blue, having car accidents, even being diagnosed with serious maladies. Well, the real TikTok witches condemned the first witch for performing her witchcraft wrong so it Reverse Uno'd the women who wanted the men cursed.

Public service announcement: Only get your curse spells from TikTok witches approved by the Better Blasphemy Bureau.

Real, supposedly, and accomplished with pretty cheap materials:

28 in the compilation of costumes, there's a good Invisible Man effect where they use the same "headless" rig as the headless horseman, but then use a wire to hold a hat over the missing head. Plus a monocle "floating" over one of the missing eyes.

67 Aw, it got dusty in here. A small deaf pittie was dumped here in 2020. Toby loved her, and she loved life here for the short span she had. Taught me some patience dealing with her crazy energy. But we were not set up to handle a deaf dog. She ran out on the road and got hit by a truck. If the truck hadn't got her she was likely to have gotten a fatal kick to the head from a horse. She thought it was great fun to grab their tails and enjoy the brief flight. I was amazed they tolerated her doing that.

Me! I do. I was just thinking that for the first time in many years I will have to carve it myself tomorrow. Usually one or more of the kids come by to do it but not this year. I got my husband one too so we can carve together. He always did creative ones but I have zero artistic ability so mine will probably be the traditional three triangles and a smile.

Posted by: boo-bell at October 30, 2026 08:28 PM (uyuYG)

137 I have a tip about pie crust scraps which may or not be new to you. If you layer the scraps (rather than scrunching them up in a ball), you keep the gluten going the same in them all, and you can roll them out as though they were fresh dough. Scrunching them into a ball gets the gluten going every which way, which makes the dough tough.

It's also possible that your batter is too thick, so maybe add a bit more milk if that's the case.
