Gorgeous photo on top, Ace.
The doggie bringing gifts to the bath...he just wants her not to forget him. And tempt her to get out of the water monster. I would have loved to have had a rock diving lab to help me build stuff. He's cool! Our Golden, who hated water, would drop his tennis ball into the pool and stare at it til we got it out for him. No way he was going in and this was his game. The only time he dunked his snout was in a bowl of water if there were ice cubes. He did like ice cubes and was very brave and blowing bubbles. We know he was defective but he made up for the water deal by being the sweetest dog to ever live. It also probably saved a lot on the pool filters. 280 > My father said the "natives" bleached their hair orange with it and came back for more. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at November 02, 2026 07:23 PM (hzuYO) My grandfather didn't talk about WWII much. I gather he'd Seen Some Shit. One story he would tell was about one of the islands where the women traditionally go topless. He was at a base there for a while, and (naturally) he and his fellow young GIs had no objection whatsoever to this post. It sure beat the shit out of slogging through the jungle waiting for a bunch of crazy (pardon the expression) Nips to launch a banzai charge. Anyway, some of the natives were hired to perform various tasks. Some stick-up-the-ass officer decreed that the women MUST wear shirts at all times while they were on post, and had them issued Army t-shirts for this purpose. The women were pleased as hell with their new finery and wore them all the time, not just when they were at work. However, they found them rather...confining... so they soon cut two big holes in the chestal region so the girls could run wild and free. Heh. WI has three referenda this election...
QUESTION 1: “Partial veto. Shall section 10 (1) (c) of article V of the constitution be amended to prohibit the governor, in exercising his or her partial veto authority, from creating or increasing or authorizing the creation or increase of any tax or fee?” QUESTION 2: "Freedom to gather in places of worship during an emergency. Shall section 18 of article I of the constitution, which deals with religious liberty, be amended to prohibit the state or a political subdivision of the state from ordering the closure of, or forbidding gatherings in, places of worship in response to a state of emergency, including a public health emergency?" QUESTION 3: "Governmental entity discrimination prohibited. Shall section 27 of article I of the constitution be created to prohibit governmental entities in the state from discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, public contracting, or public administration?" Some teratomas (a type of tumor) can grow hair, teeth, etc. Sometimes even eyes! Formerly these were thought to be a resorbed twin, but that turns out to not usually be the case. These, I knew about. BUT... these tumors can occasionally form in the vagina, leading to a vagina that is indeed dentata. I now have to live with this knowledge and you do too. Because I'm a giver that way. I need to laugh because my mother, in rehab for a back fracture repair, was set to go home tomorrow. She's delayed a day or two as she got pneumonia. All is set up for her at home with 24/7 sitters, equipment, etc. Not a huge surprise after 1 week of hospital and 2 wks of acute rehab to get pneumonia at almost 96yrs. I talked to her Saturday and she tells me to stay here. Meanwhile, if you've seen, my wicked sister-in-law is telling me to fly home and do mother's laundry and order groceries. I find out from mother on Sat. that her housekeeper does this. Using a 1g constant acceleration trajectory (well, 1g acceleration halfway there, then flip and decelerate the other half to match course and speed with Mars), the travel time would be a mere 3 days. With the "Epstein Drive", this would be quite feasible. The physics works for something like this, it's just the engineering and materials are far beyond our current abilities. Top speed midway with the constant 1g trajectory woul be only about 0.05% c. Now, to the outer solar system, you would get up to around 2% c, and that would be a problem for shielding. Well, so I can visualize doing 2 + 2 on a slide rule in my head. That's about as far as I want to take it.
Posted by: fd at November 02, 2026 08:18 PM (MWfyi) You perform multiplication and division on a slide rule because the scales are laid out logarithmically. Since the distances are logarithms of the numbers they represent, when you add distances, you multiply the numbers. Similarly, subtracting distances leads to division. I am just old enough to have used a slide rule in high school. They were gone by college, replaced with pocket calculators. Posted by: NemoMeImpuneLacessit at November 02, 2026 09:46 PM (PY8/y) 235
