France Finally Deploys Troops in Wake of Terrorist Attack

They're claiming, for the moment, that this was not a terror attack by migrants but one directed at migrants, which makes it one of the terrorist attacks they're willing to acknowledge and not pretend that a Car Drove Itself.

Macron claims this is the first time someone has ever been targeted on the basis of his race in a terror attack.

This is, of course, the most absurd of all lies.

The Bataclan terrorists were specifically killing native French and of course the Muslim African terrorists at the Hypermarche were murdering Jews.

But they're allowed to, of course.

Visegrád 24
@visegrad24

Macron says that today's shooting in Trappes was aimed at migrants and the first terror attack in French history against a group of people targeted because of their skin and religion.

He is naturally lying as there have been several such Islamist attacks in France in recent years which were carried out against Jews or Christians.

- 2012, Mohammed Merah attacks a Jewish school in Toulouse and murders a rabbi and 3 kids

- 2015, Amedy Coulibaly murders 4 Jews at the Hypercacher kosher supermarket in Paris

- 2016, Adel Kermiche and Abdel Malik Petitjean storm a church in Normandy and murder the 85-year-old priest Jacques Hamel, by slitting his throat, and also critically wound an 86-year-old man.

2020, Brahim Aouissaoui storms a Catholic basilica in Nice and stabs 3 people to death.

Macron stated today:

"What happened today is a turning point. It is the first time there has been a terrorist act planned to kill our compatriots, our children, because of the color of their skin or their religion"

Oh, now interethnic violence is a turning point? It was NBD before?

And so finally France will deploy troops to oppose rioters.

Supposedly. But he keeps insisting that people have the right to Mostly Peaceful Protest.

A suspected terrorist attack near Paris Friday added to tensions across France as the nation prepares for more potential violence Saturday.

Seventy thousand law enforcement officers, along with helicopters, armored vehicles and water cannons, will be deployed across France as President Emmanuel Macron's government tries to ward off another weekend of violent protests.

"The strategy adopted for the coming days is to ban protests requested by individuals or groups with no legitimate authority," Macron said ahead of the weekend after canceling his planned trip to Nigeria and Senegal originally scheduled for next week.

...

Adding to security concerns, a suspected terrorist attack occurred in the city of Trappes, west of Paris. A 39-year-old man was arrested by police after one person was killed and four others, including a 12-year-old girl, were wounded in what was originally said to be a "relatively random" shooting.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has since told local media, "The motive may be racist. The investigation is ongoing, but this is clearly a terrorist crime."

The AFP reported the suspect appeared to fire randomly from a vehicle, and the mayor told reporters the dead victim and at least one of the wounded were "of African origin."

Macron said "the nation is standing with" the victims of this "terrible ordeal."

...

Reuters reports that the Union Nationale des Étudiants de France, or UNEF, one of the nation's oldest student unions, has said its planned rallies will go on as scheduled despite police rejecting their permit requests. Police have so far only approved a union demonstration in Paris, Reuters reported, while denying requests from UNEF and the "Yellow Vest" movement, an anti-establishment force that first emerged in 2018.

So the left gets their protest approved, but the anti-Macron Yellow Vests get their protest denied.

Macron also took aim at those he says are behind the violence, saying, "Last Saturday, we had political and seditious acts by ultra-left groups whose aim is to bring down the Republic."

Until a few days ago they were part of just "the left" and protected by Macron. Now they're a problem, and they're "ultra-left."

Kind of like Russia went from being protected by the Democrat Party to the greatest threat ever.

So are we finally going to see mass arrests of Fiery But Mostly Peaceful Protesters?

Well...

You probably heard that 4,000 Mostly Peaceful Student Activists had been arrested in France for rioting, assaulting cops, looting, and arson.

Here's how the French "justice" system is dealing with the insurgents and invaders: Giving them community service and sending them home.

Visegrád 24
@visegrad24

BREAKING:

The first rioters and looters have been sentenced in France.

The judges practically refuse to hand out prison sentences:

🔴 Toulouse -- Ylan, 18 years old. Throwing a Molotov cocktail at police officer

- Sentence: 12 months suspended + 140 hours of community service + deprivation of voting rights for 3 years.
- Max. sentence: 10 years in prison

...

🔴 Lille -- 23-year-old man, launching fireworks at police

- Sentence: 12 months under electronic monitoring + 140 hours of community service.
- Max. sentence: 5 years

🔴 Reims -- Sahel W., 19 years old. Looting a Carrefour

- Sentence: 105 hours of community service.
- Max. sentence: 7 years

🔴 Reims -- Hugo M., 20 years old. Looting a Caviar boutique.

- Sentence: 4 months under electronic monitoring.
- Max. sentence: 7 years.

...

🔴 Perpignan -- 22-y-old Amazon delivery driver, already one prior conviction. Scooter theft after demonstration with face concealment, in a group and break-in

- Sentence: 8 months under electronic monitoring.
- Max. sentence: 10 years

...

🔴 Pau -- 43-y-old man. Throwing objects at police

- Sentence: 6 months under electronic monitoring.
- Max. sentence: 5 years

🔴 Nīmes -- 24-y-old PE teacher. Throwing objects that injured a police man (3 days of leave).

- Sentence: 18 months suspended prob.
- Max. sentence: 5 years

🔴 Grenoble -- 10 people. Looting

Sentences: from 4 months suspended to 8 months served (served for 1 individual already convicted to suspended in June).
Max. sentence: 7 years

More at the link. Some people actually got some months in prison but they seem to be a minority.

As you know, Macron fled France for a junket in the Gulf States where he could strut around like a Very Important Peacock and pretend that his entire country wasn't on fire. He's a student of Karen Bass.

This "news" organization has a very interesting, very objective headline to describe abandoning France during a violent uprising:

Gulf tour puts spring in Macron's step to tackle protests at home

Oh terrific! He just needed a mental health break and now he's tanned, rested, and ready, and infused with a whole new purpose.

Georgia Meloni has remained in Italy and pushed for harsher anti-rioting laws.

Italy's response to a weekend of street violence has moved from emergency policing to tougher criminal law, with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni seeking to reassert control after unrest in Milan and other northern cities

The government approved measures on Tuesday creating an offence of violent participation in demonstrations, extending preventive detention powers to teenagers aged 14--17 and making parents financially liable for damage caused by their children. The package also provides for 500 soldiers to support security operations in Milan through December.

The crackdown presents a defining challenge for a prime minister whose political identity rests heavily on law and order: demonstrating that stronger powers can prevent another eruption while addressing the conditions feeding public anger.

...

As EU Today reported in its earlier coverage of the unrest, police brought 271 people to headquarters following Sunday's disturbances, including 220 minors. Thirty-two were formally arrested, a detail that matters when assessing the scale of alleged criminal involvement.

The prominence of teenagers has shaped the government's response. According to the Associated Press, the decree makes prosecuting minors over 14 easier and includes plans to expand juvenile detention capacity and judicial resources.

Parliament must convert the decree into law within 60 days.

For supporters, the argument is straightforward: shopkeepers should not have to absorb the cost of destruction, and officers need effective tools against groups exploiting demonstrations to commit offences.

Yet preventive detention raises a different question from punishment after conviction. Its credibility depends on clear evidence, consistent safeguards and meaningful scrutiny, particularly when those affected are children.

Here's how it's going in France:

Italy is taking a different approach:

The Red-Green coalition in Spain also rioted there and attacked police.

The police, under fire by rockets and rocks, charged the rioters and beat them with batons.

I don't think this was on the socialist (red-green communist, actually) PM's orders. I think the cops charged because they were under physical attack.

In the coming weeks, I expect the socialist Spanish government to fire and even arrest these cops for doing their jobs.

A tiny bird man I could drop kick across a road. Coward comes to mind. Stupid. Feckless and pretend leader of a country. Married to his old school teacher who wears wigs and hits him on ze plane.

He waits over a decade to consider sending troops for riots, after the religion terrorist attacks Ace stated (and the one in Normandy haunts me still). But to protect his precious migrant barbarians and their "religion."

A religion that I pray nightly will be eradicated. First I pray for conversion, then I pray for them to be destroyed.

16 Don't care about France. It's a smelly, dirty, pretentious cesspool of a country. I always laugh at the vacation brochures of Paris. Psssst....it doesn't look anything like what they display. EVERY single park is drowning in trash and little. And the smell....good grief. Lena Dunham after a workout.

Italy? I still care a bit about Italy. Mostly for the art and some of the food in out of the way town restaurants (predominately in the north). I like Meloni because I am convinced she is the one that tipped Trump off about the Zelenskyy visit and how he would act, thus giving Trump the opportunity to bring Vance in to serve as a buffer and an enforcer (there are number of reasons to believe this, not the least is her attitude after the emergency EU meeting just before that meeting and her being the only leader to leave without talking to the press looking pissed).

Finally....wait a week. They are scheduling massive protests in Germany for Oct 31. You think the AfD is popular now. Give it a few weeks. They will be able to field a clear voting majority. Then it gets interesting.

26 Oh on a different note I see the case of Ian Cranston is in the news again.

He was at a nightclub with his GF. A guy named Barry Washington came up and hit on his GF. She turned him down so Barry assaulted her and Ian, knocking the latter to the ground.

As Barry came over to finish him off, Ian took out a pistol and shot Barry, killing him.

Checking reddit one of the top comments is, "Carrying a gun when you go out to a bar is just stupid and far more likely to cause harm than good."

But he used the gun in self defense against a larger man then meant to inflict serious bodily harm...his being armed did more good then harm.

Are you a Marine? My father was WWII 1st Marines and I'm partial to them.

Thank you.

70 63 No more. Let’s pull entirely out of Europe and leave them entirely to their shithole selves.

71 I don't think the US saving Europe is a discussion in any forum or an idea in anyone's head.

And BTW I think the last coalition casualty in Iraqi Kurdistan was a French paratrooper, a few months ago.

72 I think the hell breaking out in Europe will make some of the slumbering clueless in the US consider waking up and voting the right way in November. The timing couldn't be more perfect.

And I no longer care what happens to France.

73 I could have gone the rest of my life without knowing what "boofing" is.

Words, especially slang, change meaning over time but it does raise a question whether Kavanaugh lied to the Senate when asked about references to boofing in his prep school yearbook. The whole hearing was a farce but I wouldn't feel good about it if he did.

76 (From GP):

Marxist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani showcased his latest bit of treachery with a twist that is sparking online anger.

On Friday, the ardent opponent of basic immigration enforcement went online and decided to coach the Big Apple’s illegal alien residents in SPANISH on how they can avoid being detained by ICE.

In the video, Mamdani outlines these three steps illegals can undertake to sabotage immigration enforcement: demand a judicial order from ICE before they can enter one of your ‘private’ spaces, remain silent if asked about your immigration status, and call the city’s immigration legal support line.

81 I think the first two of the idiot Mamdani's outrageous little tips won't avail any illegals much. ICE doesn't (and never will) require judicial warrants, and usually ICE won't bag someone they haven't targeted based on solid information, so the silent act will default you to detention and depending on facts of the case, deportation proceedings.

86 If you look at voting maps of France it’s no different yah here. Big cities left, exurbs and rural right. Paris went something like 90% for Macron. So I feel for the people outside the core of Paris, Lyon and Marseille who have to watch their country turn to shit. For those in the cities, burn baby burn.

87 Macron stated today:

"What happened today is a turning point. It is the first time there has been a terrorist act planned to kill our compatriots, our children, because of the color of their skin or their religion"

Gerald Ford stated today:

There is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe, and there never will be under a Ford administration!

Upon further questioning, President Ford said: “I don’t believe that the Yugoslavians consider themselves dominated by the Soviet Union.

I think Macron is in cahoots with the Color Revolutionaries.

Have they promised him the title of Grand Wazoo for Life once the revolution is over?

Same with the Spanish guy.

Of course, they'd have top be fools to think things will work that way for them.
