Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Minnesota Senate Election Trending Red?The Cook Political Report has shifted its rating of the Minnesota Senate race toward the Republican candidate, marking one of the only instances of a major Senate race seemingly moving toward the GOP this cycle. Cook moved the contest from "likely" to "lean" Democratic, as polls show Republican nominee Michelle Tafoya closing in on Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, D-Minn.So they still think the bizarre evil Karen is ahead, but only by a smidge. The parties have more accurate polls. And the Democrats have cancelled ads in Minnesota, while the Republicans are buying ad space up. These tea leaves are hard to read. The Democrats may be ending advertising because they think they have this in the bag. But... Flanagan can't get over 50% in a very blue state. She's stuck at 46%, which isn't so great for a virtual incumbent. That raises the question of why the DSCC stopped investing in Flanagan's race. Do Democrats think Flanagan is out in front enough so that they can shift their funds to other races, perhaps betting on potential pickups in Texas, Maine, or Iowa? Or do they look at Flanagan's inability as a quasi-incumbent to get to 50% in a state that's been safely blue for over 20 years as a flashing red alarm about her prospects, and have decided to stop investing in a loss? Dustin Grage told Larry O'Connor earlier this week, before the NRSC bought ad space for Tafoya, that internal polling showed results that differed from the publicly published surveys, including those tracked by RCP. Of course, we can pose similar questions to the NRSC. What do they see in Minnesota that's prompting them to spend money there rather than, say, Nebraska, Kansas, or Iowa? Ken Paxton's Senate campaign against James Talarico has tons of funding from the Senate Republican caucus already through its Senate Leadership Fund, which put over $30 million into Texas PAC, and Elon Musk (America PAC) and MAGA Inc are spending obscene amounts of money here. Either NRSC sees something in its private polling that suggests Tafoya is close enough for a final push or they want to force Democrats to redirect funds to play defense in Minnesota. For those of you who say "Poll are for strippers:" Maybe it's worse that that. A "polling" firm called Wedgewood Polling consistently showed outsized leads for Democrat candidates, including in districts where no one else showed any chance for a Democrat win. Charles Schumer directed some ad spending in these no-win races. But Wedgewood turns out to have been a completely fake operation. They're claiming their completely-fake polls were a "social experiment" to expose the lack of rigor in polling and in media poll coverage. But maybe this is a cover story. Maybe it was just a Democrat op to demoralize Republicans all along. 'We're fake!' Wedgewood Polls announced Tuesday night that they're not a real polling agency but a social experiment. A statement issued by the 'pollsters' says it conducted the so-called experiment 'to demonstrate the vulnerabilities, lack of oversight, and overall low barrier to entry in the modern political polling industry.' Major media outlets like the New York Times and MS NOW have cited Wedgewood Polls. If they were fooled, it shows how easy it is to break into the polling industry and be touted as reliable from the get-go.

I was thinking about that Alberta election. I'm not surprised by the vote but working out the logic, remainers should have wanted as close to a 51-49 split as possible, because the argument isn't that the Canuckistani central government isn't f*cking over Alberta, it obviously is, but whether it would be better to remain and get the Canuckifuhrer to lay off the people there.

But maybe this is a cover story. Maybe it was just a Democrat op to demoralize Republicans all along. ------ My read on this is that it's neither. If you limit the pollsters to their final polls, yes, they keep things to margin of error. However, you should never limit them to final polls. And, you should be rigorous with them. 42-40 in a poll where the result is 50-48 is not right. The margin is the same, but each individual statistic is outside the margin of error of the final result, the actual data. They got it wrong. But, we have this overall pattern of polls "tightening" or "moving right" from summer to fall and into election season. That's not a natural movement. The local PR person at the airport hand delivered a ton of stuff for our sweet boy later that week to help. I had people from JFK and Orlando emailing me photos of stuffed animals for ID. [I know this sounds wacky but it's true] My dude said Ed was probably an assitant, but it was his phone, and the PR person said it was Ed. Do I need to email Ed about this? My husband hated United and AA when he flew for business. We've never had a problem with Delta. I hear you. I was a Northwest die-hard when they were bought by Delta so all of my miles are on Delta. These frequent "We were conducting a social experiment! Really!" fake polling compant revelations is a HUGE scandal that simply isn't getting enough press.
What keeps happening is this: -- Leftist activists set up a fake polling company — Issue fake polls to push DSA candidates over Dem and GOP candidates. — IF (note that word: "If") they get caught, then they issue a pre-written excuse: "We simply set up this fake poling company as a test to see how much the media could be fooled by fake polling companies. Gotcha!" Uh huh. — But IF they DON'T get caught (which probably happens all the time), then they never do their big Mea Culpa., and their polls continued to be used right up to the election to demoralize any candidate that opposes the communist agenda. Even worse, these fake polls are always included in the "polling averages," and since they're left-skewing outliers, they skew the average of ALL polls. So yeah, we outed two or three of these con artists, who then all falsely claimed to be social scientists performing an experiment. But, that raises the question: How many HAVEN'T ben outed yet? Probably dozens of them. Conclusion: Do not trust polls. Even a little bit. Posted by: zombie at October 21, 2026 04:11 PM (HD2n/) 258

Posted by: Framk Rizzo at October 21, 2026 04:26 PM (kdVl9) ======= OH is looking like a wipeout against the Ds. Their metro numbers are trash. GA is seeing rather steep black turnout declines already. Maybe not enough to undo Ossoff, but he can't like what he's seeing. TX is just presidential turnout from both parties, and the state is deep red. GOP is doing well in NV and FL. NC is the only Dem bright spot (heck, even VA is less pronounced than last year where early voting analysis saw the D's winning pretty early and convincingly), and even that is eroding pretty quickly (quickly enough for Whatley? No one knows, but it seems doubtful). NC will be a 3 point or less race, and both parties will scream that they didn't spend enough on it when it's over.
