Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump Creates $25 Million Fund to Pay Bounties to Whistleblowers Who Alert the Government of FraudIf you want to stop foreign pirates, issue letters of marque and reprisal. This isn't quite that but it's good to incentivize people to report fraud.President Donald Trump is putting cash behind his crackdown on taxpayer fraud, offering Americans rewards for tips that help bring fraudsters to justice. Speaking alongside Vice President JD Vance and independent journalist Nick Shirley in the Oval Office, Trump unveiled the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program and said qualifying tipsters would receive a 1% commission, subject to applicable laws and rules.A 1% commission. That could be huge. I'd like to report Ilhan "Omar" and her entire foreign pirate "family," please. Hooboy, I'm lookin' for a new home on Easy Street! ... Vance said the initiative grew out of a conversation with Trump about recruiting Americans to help investigators uncover fraud. "If you want to help us stop it, you get to share in the rewards," Vance said. Shirley drew national attention in December 2025 after publishing a video questioning whether several Somali-run Minnesota daycare centers were operating as legitimate businesses. His video showed apparently empty facilities and included people who said they had not seen children at the locations. The White House credited Shirley's reporting with helping spur a surge of FBI and Department of Homeland Security resources into Minnesota, followed by investigations, arrests and new charges. This is genuinely huge. Trump is offering potentially millions of dollars for a little bit of research and detective work. Nick Shirley is going to be a rich man. He can't collect a bounty retrospectively, but he knows how to find the fraudsters and will be collecting in the future. Markwayne Mullin praised Nick Shirely and pointed out that "everyone knew" about the Learing Center but not a single media company reported on it. He also says the DOJ's fraud task force is moving to seize an entire half-block of Minneapolis which he said was purchased with SNAP fraud. Gunther Eagleman

Back in the long long ago, it used to be common for the town drunk to get a "job" at the local stores sweeping up and taking out the trash. They'd work a couple hours a day to get just enough money for a lunch and a couple beers. That's how they used to sustain themselves.
Posted by: bonhomme ----------- Not that long ago. My father always had a soft heart. All the local drunks knew he was good for a few bucks if they pushed a broom around the parking lot a bit. He would also hire fallen contractors to do small jobs -- masonry work, carpentry,... whatever, knowing they were not reliable but would be good for one day, or maybe a week. Just to help them out. He understood he had to work with them to make sure they didn't fuck up, but he was doing it to help out a lost soul. Posted by: bob (moron inbobnitus) at October 20, 2026 05:51 PM (QerdV) 105

Dim Dumbo LBJ started Food Stamps in 1964.
Perhaps originally it was meant to be a temporary stop gap for people who would eventually get jobs. They found a way to live without jobs or pride, and voted Dim all these years. This has been abused for generations, evolving into junk food purchases. President Trump has been the first to try to both control purchases and track it. An example of the generational dole: NOLA after Hurricane Katrina. Welfare was all they knew in their government teat lives. Waiting for rescue transportation...when there has always been ways to leave (well, Gov. Nagin did not help with his flooded school busses). The famous photo of a smiling man looting a plastic bin of Heineken after the levee broke comes to mind; as even the NOLA police joined in the looter fun for free plasma TV's. The faggot above on the video admitting taking food stamps...well, I'd like to slap that smirk off his face. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at October 20, 2026 05:52 PM (hzuYO) 111

My grandfather and uncles used to run a furniture store in a small town and had credit accounts for most everyone in town. People would come in once a week, 2 weeks, a month, whatever the arrangement, and make their payment. I remember several times in the early 70s they took government cheese and other food as payment from some of the poorer folks in town. Our whole extended family would get a big block or tow of cheese.

I was on food stamps once, in 1988 or so. They were actual coupons in a book then, looking like foreign money, and you had to rip them out of the book at the grocery store. Everybody knew you were on food stamps, in other words, and if you were a proud type it was hard knowing that they knew. I got off the program as soon as I could get another job. (I do recall the lady at the food stamp office being rather pleasant and understanding.)
Now it's just a plastic card, and nobody knows whether you are using your own credit/debit card or the government's. Thus the shame has been eliminated. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at October 20, 2026 06:12 PM (wzUl9) 188

Posted by: Mister Scott ---------- I remember this from the 70s, (as I said above, my father had a business in the city so we learned some things.) This was part of the supplemental nutrition program, and I think it varied a lot by state. This was only supplemental and not a main source of food, as SNAP and all the other programs are today. Reagan famously dumped excess stores of cheese into the program in the 80s, and I think at that time they also gave out other foods, but most of it was not as appealing as the cheese, because the cheese, you see, was a form of currency in the ghettos. Restaurants would buy it all up to serve. That was fraud too. As long ago as I can recall, food stamps were exchanged. Small grocers gave cash which was spent on drugs or booze. I say we just kill SNAP for the rest of the year. Starting in January, you come in with your birth certificate, ID, SSN, get fingerprinted and give a blood sample to test for drugs. You get a separate Snap ID that you must present with your Snap card and your face and groceries are recorded on video. You pick up your Snap card once a week after completing an obstacle course running around bureaucrats with blow up batons.

In the 80s, the commercial street in the city I was familiar with had one or two phone card stores on every block.
I needed to find out why? why such demand for phone cards. What I learned is that immigrants got SNAP or other forms of support, and they traded that in for long distance phone cards to call home. They also transferred money home at the shops. The stores would then sell the SNAP to grocers, who would sell food to restaurants. All of it under the table and immune from taxes. What a racket. There were so many because it was very low overhead and high margins, and it relied on local walk-in business so they had a fixed set of people who would show up every month to cash in their government checks. Fun fact:
Despite other cultures (predominately in the East) eating more peanuts than in the West, they have a fraction of the number of people allergic to peanuts. AND, it's because they mostly boil and fry peanuts in preparation as opposed to the standard roasting in the West...which heightens and changes the structure of the proteins and is more likely to trigger an immunity response. I had a girlfriend from rural Virginia who could trace her ancestry to freed slaves. Her grandfather showed me how to make peanut oil using a press he made himself and then how to make peanut butter that was the best I ever had. Her mom made collard greens and chitlins that were magnificent and a recipe passed down for years. Forget about the cooked pork dishes.

with "peanuts and salt" as the only listed ingredients.
If you have a blender, you can take salted peanuts and turn them into peanut butter. Depending on how dry they are, you may have to add a little (peanut) oil to get it to turn into a butter. Its very, very easy. And very easily adapted. INDIAN PEANUT BUTTER 1 cup roasted peanuts; 1 tsp cumin powder; 2 cloves garlic; peanut oil as needed; 4 tsp chili powder; salt to taste Grind peanuts, garlic, and spices in food grinder or blender. Stir in peanut oil to attain desired consistency. Add salt to taste. Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at October 20, 2026 06:36 PM (kYmoU) 279
