Sad painting. Stoics would probably like it as a nice daily reminder that life in finite. From Chat.... Sitting Old Man Nude is a striking figure study by Slovenian painter Anton Ažbe (1862–1905), an influential artist and art teacher. Rather than idealizing the human body, Ažbe portrays an elderly man with realism and sensitivity, emphasizing the effects of age through his posture, skin, and physical form. The painting demonstrates Ažbe’s skill in observing anatomy, light, and shadow while capturing the quiet dignity of an ordinary human subject. It reflects his belief in painting directly from life and his commitment to honest, expressive realism. Posted by: Stateless - Ralphy - 106 years old! Posted by: Piper at October 20, 2026 09:48 AM (ZdaMQ) 62
Not something I would hang. It's a little too close to the reality of a man aging to be comfortable for a guy well over 29. But the accuracy of the physique, the bent posture and the skin tones speak of a huge talent. The emotional impact of a man, previously tall and muscular, surrendering to loss and age is unavoidable.

From wiki:
Anton Ažbe (30 May 1862 – 5 or 6 August 1905) was a Slovene realist painter and teacher of painting. Ažbe, crippled since birth and orphaned at the age of eight, learned painting as an apprentice to Janez Wolf and at the Academies in Vienna and Munich. At the age of 30, Ažbe founded his own school of painting in Munich that became a popular attraction for Eastern European students. Posted by: Aetius451AD at October 20, 2026 09:56 AM (Y/06r) 88

I worked at Children and Family Service Association, building one of the first two sexual abuse programs in America. I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent—and it’s not easy for a mother to say this—but Amy has a serious problem. She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life. My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn’t doing that. Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.” - There'll be one helluva Thanksgiving dinner. The Magician's Nephew movie is troubled, but in the can and has a release date in the doldrums of February. Not Christmas, when it should have been. This should be pro Christian, family friendly fare that racks up hundreds of millions at the holidays. Not some glam rock, niche pet project. Greta should never have been picked for it.
The irony Is not lost on anyone who has read The Last Battle that the end comes when a donkey puts on a lion skin suit and parades around as a fake lion. A gender bending fake Aslan by a non Christian was always going to be a tough sell. But destroying the eagle and child in the trailer, and resetting it to the 50s instead of keeping it in a timeline where WW2 bombings of London happen, was just bizarre choices.
