Saturday Night Club ONT - October 17, 2026 [Disco & Dino]

10172026-moron.jpg

Welcome to Club ONT - a whelming collaboration of The Disco and The Dino.

Open thread - bar is open, too. Come in in, grab a drink or 2. Or 3. Keep it light and friendly. The Moose out front has been very busy today welcoming all of his MoMe friends.

Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies

A frustrated karate student walks up to his teacher and tells him, "Master, it has been years now and my technique is not improving. What must I do to be as good as you, Master?"

The older man looks at him with kind eyes and says, "My child, have you ever observed the ants - how they work tirelessly day and night to build something that can be swept away with a single wave of the hand?"

"Yes Master, many times," the young one says.

"Have you watched how, in the fiercest storm, bamboo always bends, but never breaks?"

"Yes Master."

"And have you paused to contemplate the reflection of the full moon in still water?"

"Of course Master, many times."

"Now I see your problem, young one. You keep looking at stupid shit instead of practicing."

Club ONT Department of Idaho Democracy

An Idaho ballot measure in the upcoming midterm election will ask voters to identify an official state gun, The advisory question is non-binding and instead will only advise the state legislature on voter preferences. Voters can pick from the following options:

Winchester Model 1894 (.30-30)
Winchester Model 1873 (.44-40)
1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver (.45 Colt)
M1 Garand rifle (.30-06)
Colt M1911 .45 automatic Colt pistol (.45 ACP)
Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle (.30-06)

In order to make a specific firearm the official state gun, the state legislature would need to approve a separate law after the election.

According to the National Rifle Association, as of 2026, ten states have official state guns:

Alaska: Winchester Model 70 Rifle
Arizona: Colt Single Action Army Revolver
Indiana: Grouseland Rifle
Kentucky: Kentucky Long Rifle
Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania Long Rifle
Missouri: Hawken Rifle
Tennessee: Barrett M82 Rifle
Texas: Colt Walker Revolver
Utah: M1911 Pistol
West Virginia: Hall Model 1819 Flintlock Rifle

Club ONT Department of Horrifying Football Trivia

Per Wikipedia:

The Steagles, officially known as the Phil-Pitt Combine, was the team created by the temporary merger of Pennsylvania's two National Football League (NFL) teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles, during the 1943 season. The two franchises, due to both having many players leave for military service during World War II, were compelled to field a single combined team. The league's official record book refers to the team as the "Phil-Pitt Combine," but the unofficial and portmanteau variation of the "Steagles," despite never being registered by the NFL, has become the enduring moniker.

What's a "portmanteau" anyway?

15 Evening, D and D! Thanks for the ONT!

What's a "portmanteau" anyway?
I believe the style guide says, "$20, same as in town". (If anyone is actually curious, it is, naturally, when you blend two words together. Like 'smoke+fog=smog'. Believe it was Lewis Carroll who first used it this way - packing two words together like a kind of suitcase)

Well, you've heard of a camel toe, right? This is a hole in the sock that dude is wearing with his sandals while he mows. The "port" part is what they're going to have to do when he takes a rock to that toe - they're gonna have to 'port him to the hospital. See? Port-man-toe. But they had to spell "toe" the French way, 'cause that's what you do with fancy words in English.

19 At least down here winds have calmed down, were never consistently high anyway - and just now I hear an airliner overhead in the normal (land to the west) pattern. Yesterday they were landing to the east, the stack-up was over the water.

Up in San Juan CalFire says 25% containment. Have family living not far from the fire so relieved that it looks to not be very aggressive.

No actual movement of course, being the weekend, but I'm in better spirits, and I found a good variety of jobs that I could argue myself qualified and applied to.

As much as it might seem I've been patient with all this, I'm praying to get better at awaiting God's timing. Getting out of the house with substitute teaching will help some, getting into that parttime-temp work will help more... and there's at least still a chance of something longer-term coming through in the coming months.

We had some fun winds here when I went to WalMart earlier. I was approaching a couple of trees in the parking lot, with their branches whipping about and I heard this awesome amount of chirping. There must have been 2 or 3 nests in those trees and the birds were PISSED. The bird equivalent of a 8.5 earthquake. I think they must have headed for shelter before I came back out - it was silent then. (Or they all got blown out to sea.)

I looked at that X account. The bio line states "A doctor with a PhD in Gender Studies..." That seemed a bit odd.

Then I started reading the posts. They got more and more over the top. She saw a swastika in the patterns the thruster vapor clouds made as they were firing. Also, saw a Roman salute in the same thruster clouds.

Then it hit me, this is likely a parody. At it appears to be from searching around.

172 If you're at all curious about how these super grassroots No Kings protests and every other one of these left wing groups pop up with these "spontaneous" protests you might want to read this.

There is nothing spontaneous about them. They are incredibly well financed and organized. They appear to be much bigger than they are. Like fake media polls. There's a reason that all of this far left green/red bullshit is happening around the world at the same time.

You might think you are at war with them but they are definitely at war with us.

As Bill Clinton prepares to re-ascend to his world stage, rested, refined, "reformed" he takes the pilot seat of his enterprise "The Clinton Global Catastrophe" to remind us that the world is the way it is precisely becaues we did not Sacrifice enough of the Innocent to the Guilty, enough of the Guilty to the EVIL.

He had half his jaw blown off either by a bad suicide attempt or by St. Just shooting him in the face. He spent the night on a table since they didn't think he would survive the night and honestly didn't care. He was executed the next day and the only sound he made was screaming when the headsman tried to take the bandana holding his face together off, and it stuck due to clotted blood.
