This does hit at the core of the left's anti-Trump strategy in an interesting way.
Though Trump is a fairly moderate politician by pre-2016 standards, the left argues he's literally Hitler. And of course calling for violence against Hitler isn't just ok its a good thing. But now there is actually a cost to calling for that violence, because of course Trump isn't Hitler and the American system bans assassination of its pols. So the left has to choose - continue the Hitler line and go to jail, or acknowledge Trump isn't an OrangeHitler clone... Posted by: 18-1 at October 09, 2026 02:27 PM (sKqQm) 64

It is that someone, or some system has indicated that it is perfectly OK, or even moral and righteous to make threats, accusations and overt plans like this. It is part of the mob mentality that goes with dehumanization necessary to discriminate or cancel. Discrimination and cancelling give gutless, useless idiots power that they would not have otherwise, and give status within the mob. They can make up cutesy insults, and assign intent, and say the world would be better without that particular point of view that says theirs is wrong. But hey, for that group, it is just the socially binding thing to do, make accusations and find the smallest evidence that making violent threats is justified. Punch a nazi. Punch a denier.
