The Morning Rant

punk-monkey.jpg

Well, this is entirely unsurprising, based on the absolute insanity that seems to be the status quo in Portland! Of course it is an amusing but unimportant statistic unless compared to something else, like for instance the percentage of people who identify as "transgender," or Democrat, or progressive! I'll bet that correlation is damned strong!

Oregon adults have the highest rate of mental illness in the US at 31.6%

The ten states, including the District of Columbia, that had the highest rate of mental illness in 2023 to 2024 included: Oregon (31.6 percent), Vermont (29.1 percent), Washington, DC (29 percent), West Virginia (28.1 percent), Washington state (27.9 percent), New Hampshire (27.7 percent), Tennessee (27 percent), Maine (26.7 percent), Utah (26.7 percent), and Arkansas (26.6 percent).

Show me the comparison between voting tendencies, self-proclaimed "gender," and mental illness! But... I think we all have a pretty good idea what that will tell us. Blue cities are far crazier than red rural areas. That's a guess, but I'll wager I am correct.

An inability to learn that cannot be explained by intellectual, sensory, or health factors.
An inability to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers.
Inappropriate types of behavior or feelings under normal circumstances.
A general pervasive mood of unhappiness or depression.
A tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal or school problems.

If a child is identified by a school district as "thought-to-be" disabled and in possible need of specially designed instruction under IDEA and Chapter 14, the district should move forward with a special education evaluation under IDEA and 22 PA Code Chapter 14."

85 Suppose that Oregon is 60% D - that means about 52% of Democrats in Oregon are struggling with mental illness, which I think would be a reasonable estimate for the country as a whole.

86 Looks like certain entities want to spread the crazy around in more red areas.
___

A Washington think tank whose immigration program receives Soros funding has identified hundreds of American counties as destinations for migrants. 96.5% of selected counties are majority White .

Residents would have no say.

Its November 2025 immigration blueprint urges policymakers to “enable local governments and private entities to sponsor immigrants directly.” It also proposes state visa programs and “incentivizing new arrivals to stay in specific states and regions.”

91 True, but that shouldn't be considered a mental illness. Mental illness is or should be an aberration -- something is wrong that shouldn't be -- not something that happens to everyone at a certain point in their lives.
Posted by: Elric The Blade

Everyone gets a cold at least once in their life, too. But it's still considered an illness.
==
well its not like either of your are wrong -

torturing the analogy further - there are some people with impaired immune systems who get sick quite a bit more than others. I suspect those with chronic mental health issues, have a system that makes them less resilient. Because its mental health, that system isn't just between your ears. It is also who and what you are around and what you put into your brain.

Most people suffer from depression, anxiety, obsessions (boobs) compulsions (Admiral Akbar) stuff like that but are functional or self limited. Others simply can't function without their obsession taking over their lives (Prometheus). Its a matter of degree, as with most things. Moderation in all things my fellow morons.

93 The national average for mental illness is over 20% with some states over 30%? Gimme a break. They're just defining "mental illness" to mean just about anything.

I also can't tell how they collected this data. Was it self-reporting?

Then stay away from the DC area. Especially Maryland. Maryland drivers are nuts. Virginia drivers are pretty bad, too, but at least they drive at a slower speed, so they are at less risk of killing someone by their mistakes.

96 I've come across more than one person who was acting nuts to get social security. I'd bet a paycheck is somewhat of a driving force.
G.G. Liddy, in one of his books, bitched about it and he used to on the radio too. Said it was a way for the crazy left to kill two birds with one stone. One. Get a paycheck for nothing and two, further bankrupt America.

How many people in the US are on some drug for mental health issues?

Pharma is one of the most dominant industries in the world. Healthy people don't need drugs. There are usually easy answers to most questions.

The organizer is running around saying "trust me! I've worked with them for three years." They deleted the original Tweet to remove the Community Note that called out Operation Olive Branch for links to Hamas only to post the Tweet again and get the Community Note added back.

Totes trustworthy.

But the most outrageous thing I think is finding out that the Gaza municipality, in spite of all the money the UN funnels to it, is asking for donations from people for basic functions like water services.

MICHIGAN EARLY VOTING UPDATE

Michigan early voting returns point to a Trump+4.3 electorate, a R+2.8 swing to the right from 2024. This shift is being driven by juiced exurban and rural turnout, a trend that hasn't been seen in other states

-------

Um...early voting in Michigan seems to be going REALLY badly for Democrats.
