Nick Shirley Exposes How Bums Sell Taxpayer-Funded Food Stamps to Scammers -- Often "Foreign" -- for Cash to Buy Drugs.
The Homeless Bums Chase Him Down the Street for Exposing the Scam.

Mediaite:

That all came after a wild investigation which showed how street hoods trade their SNAP funds for cash -- or fentanyl, oftentimes. Shirley likened it to swapping Pokemon cards, only this was for pennies on the dollar; he asked a man who said he had $306 on his food stamp card how much he was willing to deal it for, and the man said he was willing to sell it for $120.

Shirley then linked up with a middle-aged woman from Vietnam who said she could make a deal with him. She ushered him over to a seafood market where the cashier rang them up for $120 for a can of spam and one plate of sushi; Shirley -- who was donning a Seahawks beanie and face mask as he tried to hide his identity -- said it was clear the woman was part of a "mafia-style ring," where she was getting a kickback from the store for funneling bogus food stamp deals to them.

I assume the woman would then "refund" him like $60, taking $120 in a "sale" of one can of spam (which taxpayers pay for) and then giving the guy presenting the card half of that back in cash.

After leaving the store together, Shirley and his crew confronted the woman.

"You're committing fraud. Food stamp fraud. It's against the law," Shirley told her.

The woman took it in stride. "I know, yeah." She then started ratting other people out on the street who were apparently running the same scheme.

Shirley then returned to the seafood market to ask why they were allowing the fraud to take place. While there, all hell broke loose on the sidewalks outside, with one of the security guards trading blows with a "homeless individual" -- which led to his gun falling out in a crowd of suspected fentanyl addicts. The security guy then started punching other guys around him when no one would return his gun.

Once he was filled in as he was leaving the store, Shirley and the other members of his crew started running for safety. A homeless suspected drug addict tried to join their getaway, but he apparently couldn't keep up.

"I'm on fenty, I can't run!" the man yelled as Shirley skirted off.

@nickshirleyy

🚨 1 can of Spam for $120.

Food stamps have become the new ATM for fraudsters as they partner with local businesses to commit the fraud as they trade SNAP cards like Pokémon cards on the streets.

Across America food stamp fraud is happening everywhere. It has become a billion dollar fraudulent industry as taxpayers fund the $100 billion program.

We caught a fraudster on the streets of Seattle as she attempted to buy a can of spam and sushi for $120 in a food stamp for cash exchange, it's a billion dollar fraudulent scheme stealing from the poor and hungry. This is a must watch and is happening everywhere.

EXPOSE AND SHUT IT ALL DOWN.

Update: They're trying to just kill conservative journalists.

Cause it's not just the direct fraud, but the whole ecosystem of administrators and NGOs that are funded because of the fraud.

And then the second and 3rd order, the businesses and such all funded all or mostly by the fraud.
E.g., one of the sob stories before Congress on the new SNAP rules was a local convenience store that had to shut down because soda was no longer eligible.

I fully believe that 70% or more of every state and federal tax dollar collected in the last 20 years has ended up somewhere OTHER than its stated reason for spending. Sure, some office somewhere got a desk for a civil servant, and some constituent got a bag of food, and maybe a street sign was erected, but a TON of money was siphoned away into people's pockets who weren't mentioned at all in the bills that authorized the spending.

101 I fully believe that 70% or more of every state and federal tax dollar collected in the last 20 years has ended up somewhere OTHER than its stated reason for spending. Sure, some office somewhere got a desk for a civil servant, and some constituent got a bag of food, and maybe a street sign was erected, but a TON of money was siphoned away into people's pockets who weren't mentioned at all in the bills that authorized the spending.

You can't win because these EBT cards were a form of privatization, like not having "government cheese" like they used to, because it the cost goes up 10x if the government makes anything.

But the reality is just handing people credit cards is not "feeding" the poor, it's just another form of welfare.

And now you have big food corporations fighting to keep EBT dollars flowing.

And you can't just hand it to the states to manage because big blue states brag about the fraud and get their cut.

You just have to end these programs.

This is why I've been selective about my Christmas giving. I pick the kids whose parents are in jail, so they are getting fostered. The kids also have to not be illegal (yes, there are programs that do not include illegals). I figure no matter how well off they might be in foster care, it still helps to get a little something from someone else.

I also refuse to do the gift card requests. That's just another form of resale by parents for drugs/alcohol/bad habits in most cases with nothing going to the kids.

You could always tell the people/families that genuinely got cornholed by life through little to no fault of their own and temporarily needed a hand versus the regulars who treated the food bank like it's part of their weekly grocery shopping, because it was.

I found other ways to volunteer because having my generosity (and that of others) blatantly abused was not doing anything but pissing me off weekly.

Problem with that approach is the majority of states do not want to catch these people. And yes that includes some red states like Kentucky.

If you aren't busy look up the food stamp Kentucky pop train, it was/is a huge ebt scam. People go to walmart when the ebt cards get loaded and buy up every case of soda that they can. Then they drive to lexington or frankfort and sell that soda to a big buyer for 50 cents on the dollar for cash.

At the first of the month walmart would shove pallets of cokes to the front of the store to help these customers. Everyone knows it is going on, the fed says it is a state problem and the state says it is a fed problem.

Another scam is free school lunches. The whole school gets free lunch now, no matter the income of the parents/families. So a lot of these low income families kids get breakfast/lunch 5 days a week. Some schools actually pack food for the kids to take home on the weekends.

164 >>Another scam is free school lunches. The whole school gets free lunch now, no matter the income of the parents/families. So a lot of these low income families kids get breakfast/lunch 5 days a week. They only have to supply food weekends and evenings.

They also get fed through the Summer AND on Holdiays.

It's a total shitshow.

167 Like I said, the problem is that the local governments love the fraud.

They really see it as GDP for the city, it makes their supporters with money (the store owner) rich, and it keeps their voters (the addicts) drunk and happy. There is no downside to them, as they live in the nice parts of the city.

Their goal - (CA, NY, Mass, ...) is to figure out how to steal more of this money than the other states.

Posted by: garrett at October 07, 2026 05:06 PM (9n8wX)

171 The thing is, if you start cracking down on stores that defraud EBT programs then a lot of these marginal stores and bodegas will stop dealing with EBT completely because it isn’t worth it if they can’t skim some profit.

Then the community groups start complaining about ‘food deserts’, the media picks up on it and does a five-alarm whine, and the Dems come in to save the day by lowering requirements/audits again.

We’ve all seen this movie before.

The vast majority of "poor" people make poor decisions and have poor habits. There are very good reasons that they are "poor." Very few are total victims of circumstance.

___________

"In my work, I've had a great deal of experience with cheap people. I don't expect much of them. As far as I'm given grace to, I try to love them, since in God's sight they are precious. I do what I can for them. It isn't much because there is usually little to work on. Many of them seem to be simply bad stock, bad blood - just what those things really are doesn’t matter... They have no chance because they are no good."

193 My now deceased brother in law was on the EBT, and when he got his funds, he'd have someone give him a shopping list and then head off to Walmart or Kroger and buy a shitload of meats. The person would give him about 50 cents on the dollar for it, and then he would buy his drugs.

As for his food, every Saturday he would get a couple of boxes of food at one of the local food banks to eat while he sat around getting high. Worked great for him and the person giving him money and the store. Store got full price sale, he got drugs, money person got half priced beef.
