Just had a real bummer.
I needed a portable bench that was a little better than two sawhorses, two 2x4 and a piece of plywood, found what I thought was the perfect one and in many ways it is, the problem is that it weighs a metric f***ton, and the term portable is tenuous at best as even Brian Shaw would say, bro is this some sort of World's Strongest Man apparatus? According to the information obtained by the New York Post, rejected detainers included people involved with 131 homicides, 132 kidnappings, 1,017 sexual offenses, 9,502 assaults, 1,776 robberies, 1,631 burglaries, 2,198 weapons infractions, 1,561 DUIs, and 4,324 drug-related counts. TX-SEN: Chair of Texas Democratic Party says 'we're full steam ahead' after Talarico's flu recovery Kendall Scudder, the chair of the Texas Democratic Party, said Sunday he is confident in Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico’s campaign in the wake of his illness. “We’re full steam ahead. And, of course, you’re going to see people in the swamps of the internet making up conspiracy theories. That’s what they always do,” Scudder told NewsNation’s Chris Stirewalt on “The Hill Sunday.” “But the fact of the matter is, people get sick sometimes when you’re diabetic,” he added, referencing Talarico’s Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. “It takes you a little while to get recovered.” Talarico recently made his first public appearance in slightly less than two weeks after his campaign said he was recuperating from the flu. He was spotted walking around Austin City Limits, an annual music festival in the Texas city. Posted by: Duncanthrax at October 12, 2026 08:14 PM (0sNs1) 84

Ben Had!
Helena Handbasket! I will miss you lovely ladies this weekend. Hugs for both of you. Helena, you will need another assistant for your brownies. Posted by: nurse ratched at October 12, 2026 08:16 PM (yEz+x) 87
When I click on "continue reading" on any post I get a full-page pop up and it gives no option to close. I have to shut down my browser. If I click on "comments", I can read the rest of the articles.

nurse, to say you will be missed is an understatement.

89 "This has been beaten to death here."
Then why not fix it? Posted by: TC at October 12, 2026 08:19 PM (/EOY0) It isn’t our site to fix. But 90% of the time, Brave stops this from happening. Other people have had good luck with different pop up / ad blockers. I still feel bad recommending these as it cuts Ace’s revenue, but so does lost readership. Hopefully there is an offset by hitting the tip jar as you are able. Posted by: Piper at October 12, 2026 08:24 PM (ZdaMQ) Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at October 12, 2026 08:24 PM (Cqx++) 93
Then why not fix it?
Posted by: TC at October 12, 2026 08:19 PM (/EOY0) Well, it would be nice if it were fixed, but fixing it could cost Ace a lot of money, which would be better spent making hobo jerky. As a reader, the "fix" is simply to never hit the "continue reading" link, and simply go straight to "comments", thereby avoiding the worst of the popups. Posted by: Ben Had at October 12, 2026 08:18 PM (nxLtX) Right? I am so sad about this! But I do understand it. Posted by: Piper at October 12, 2026 08:25 PM (ZdaMQ) 95
I was eying this portable job that would have cut everything down to 1 piece, and it does, it also weighs more than George Washington.

Posted by: Oddbob at October 12, 2026 08:26 PM There are similar-concept better-executed versions out there. Posted by: Duncanthrax at October 12, 2026 08:28 PM (0sNs1) 98

Posted by: Oddbob at October 12, 2026 08:26 PM (vTZFs) They came in various grades, and the better ones were pretty sturdy. There were also some real el-cheapo knockoffs out there. The Workmate can be rigged as a decent shooting bench for out in the desert, too. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at October 12, 2026 08:28 PM (quk5M) 99
