Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | RFKJr. Exposes More Billions in Medical FraudKanekoaTheGreatVideo below the fold. Related: Hennepin County, Minnesota helpfully set up a new welfare program for Somalis to defraud. They got so many obviously-fraudulent applications that even fraud-happy Minnesota had to halt the program. It's estimated that three-quarters of the applications are fraudulent. The welfare was for businesses who were "harmed" by ICE operations in Minnesota, due to illegal aliens not showing up for work or illegal aliens not patronizing restaurants. Um, no. You stopped the obvious fraud. Plenty of more skillful fraudsters got paid. ... Hennepin County Commissioner Jeffrey Lunde said 82 legitimate businesses received help, but the county got about 300 applications and shut down the $2 million program after giving out $500,000.218 out of 300 applications were "obviously fabricated." Note that the only reason these fraudsters were caught is because they copy pasted repetitive applications for a large number of fake businesses. That's the "patterns" the commissioner euphemizes above. Also, the only verification they bothered doing was going to the addresses of the "businesses" to make sure they even existed. Three quarters of them did not. But of the businesses that did exist -- how many actually suffered thousand dollar "losses" due to illegal aliens not coming to work or eating in their restaurants? They didn't bother to even check that. Actual Justice Warrior has more, including video of local news coverage. Lord knows you won't see national media outlets cover it. Trump boasts he'll be sending out $500 refund checks to people overcharged for Obamacare. The real refunds need to go to independent workers who pay for their own insurance, but who are forced to subsidize the unhealthiest of all people getting insurance through Obamacare. In news that would make RFKJr. happy: McDonald's is spending $8.5 billion to change its menu to be healthier -- more protein in meals. You're spending billions to introduce a burger without the bun? But that's not their real plan. Their real plan is to make Quarter Pounders entirely out of 10 karat gold. Gold has no calories. Look it up. So now that this is a Health Gains thread: Does apple cider vinegar help with gastric reflux? I'm one of them. When I get reflux, which I get if I eat carbs or something that disagrees with me within two hours of bedtime, if I drink a tablespoon of ACV in a glass of water, the reflux goes away in 20 minutes. Years ago someone claimed that reflux is not caused by too much acid, as you might think, but too little acid, where your stomach never finishes digesting a meal so it just hangs around in your gut. Apple cider vinegar gets the last meal fully digested. Or maybe it just sends a signal to the stomach that, as it has a lot of acid in it, it's time to turn off the acid taps. I don't know. But it works for me, much better than antacids ever did. Maybe. All I can say is that it works for me, every time. Vinegar is bad for your teeth so you need to brush your teeth after drinking it. Because I don't want to be bothered with that in the middle of the night, I take apple cider vinegar pills when I get woken up with reflux. They're cheap and available on Amazon (and pretty much any drug or nutrition store. By the way: A commenter recommended nicotine lozenges over gum. I knew about lozenges, but never tried them until he recommended them. Thanks -- it's how I take nicotine now. Costco sells a big box of them, 270 lozenges, for $45. Pretty cheap. "If you enjoy the taste and if you feel better on it, it's totally safe to use. If your reflux gets worse with it, then I would absolutely stop," he says.Well of course. But it's worth a try, I think. Here's seven supplements you should take if, unlike me, you're over 40. To spare you having to read, here are the seven: Vitamin D3, Vitamin B12, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Omega 3s, Probiotics. Potassium's hard to get in a supplement because the little pills they sell have 3% of the RDA of potassium. You have to take -- let me run the calculations -- ten just to get 30% of the RDA. You could, however, get Potassium Chloride, which people cutting salt use as a salt substitute. But I'd be cautious. I have to assume they strictly limit the amount of potassium in each pill for a reason. A special message about addiction for Jack Straw. Anyone have any health gains to report? I have a semi-gain. I got serious about staying Keto for the first time in years. I've been in keto almost every day, at least just a little. (I check my urine.) But unlike in previous keto regimes, I'm not really losing any appreciable weight. Has anyone else gone through this? Is there a fix to kick-start actual fat-burning? (You don't have to mention the "fat fast," I know about that.)

The FF industry never really bounced back after covid. The customers didn't come back. The FF franchises got socked with much higher operating costs due to Biden's inflation, insane minimum wage requirements, and higher insurance, rent, etc. Plus, getting rid of 3 million illegals hurt both them both on their employment side and the customer side. >>>Have you tried one of the "isn't fasting but acts like it" diets? I keep seeing Dr. Patrick mention this but have been too lazy to look it up.
yes, I've tried it. It's the protein-sparing fasting-mimicking diet, where you eat 500 calories if a woman or 600 if a man with a strong tilt towards protein. Supposedly it mimicks most of the benefits of fasting while giving you enough protein that you don't burn it to make glucose. The problem is that it's pretty easy just to slop over that 600 calories. But yeah I've tried it. I did a fake fast a few months ago where I was basically doing the PSFM diet because I would eat bites of cheese here and there. It does wind up producing about the same keto effects as a true fast. Posted by: ace at October 02, 2026 03:22 PM (1wjle) 23
Shut down programs, plug up leaks, spin them plates. Fraudsters aren't bonded to any particular program; they're fraudulent to the core, and they move faster than you. Apple cider vinegar is great for burns. Even if you're already getting a blister it will vanish if you keep a vinegar poultice on the burn (keep adding more vinegar). Do that for 30 minutes or so. It takes away the pain after a few minutes, too. The last thing you want to put on a burn is butter.

One (just one) of the reasons our medical products are so expensive is that we are generally the innovators, and other countries then subsidize their purchase of the products we invent. (Sometimes, using our money to do so, through foreign aid. /eyeroll/) I wonder if there would be a market (that wouldn't be horribly skewed by gov't involvement) to purchase the patents of great new, proven innovations, then licensing them back to all sorts of manufacturers? And charging LOTS of money for non-Americans to do so.

As percentage cost increase of choosing prestige food goes, so will the number of people choosing to get fast food. McDonalds is a far cry from the McDonalds as originally portrayed in The Founder. If that portrayal was anything close to real, I have never had fast food in my entire life. Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at October 02, 2026 03:35 PM (z9/xM) 76

"But unlike in previous keto regimes, I'm not really losing any appreciable weight. Has anyone else gone through this? Is there a fix to kick-start actual fat-burning?"
----------------- Not to be harsh, but why not do keto + exercise? I can lose 10 lbs per month if I do keto along with a half-hour-ish workout 4 times per week. One workout needs to be intense weight-lifting, the rest need to be something cardio: I usually row 15 mins twice, but hard; a basketball game works, racquetball, beach volleyball (no more than 4 per side)... I lost 40 lbs June-Oct 2025, put 20 of it back on with vacations + family stuff, and just lost 10 last month. We've got no trips til early Feb so I'm gonna push hard to shed 30 lbs more this year. What I find though is, when you hit a wall, you need to change up the cardio to get your metabolism shaken up. E.g. I might plateau after 3 weekly rowing sessions for 2 months, so get a weekly racquetball or basketball game in the mix. I've also never needed to measure ketosis. Wife just tells me when my breath is bad... But if you cut out sugars and starches (and eat high fiber veggies)... You're gonna get ketosis. My experience, anyway. For decades the surgery site is marked. Then there is a "time out" (since 2003, and launched in June 2004 by operating nurses for other people to verify the patient and surgery). This is standard in any Joint Commission hospital receiving funding from Medicare/Medicaid. Unless the surgeon and the entire team were drunk, on drugs, or foreign DEI I don't understand how this happened. The "time out" is a last stop before surgery, after a series of patient identification. It makes no sense at all. Everyone in that surgical suite should be fired with license removed to never practice agagin, and the hospital sued with Joint Commission for accreditation pulled. I mostly hope for a hair-raising tantrum by the Dims in President Trumps next SOTU. As he spells out the fraud leading to the national debt. And how DOGE and others like JFK have found more fraud. The problem is, states run/administer much of these federally funded programs, so they are incentivized to allow (and even encourage) fraud. Ultimately, it's bringing money INTO the state from other states, so why would you try to stop it?
If the federal government stopped funding these programs, massively reduced taxes, and told states to raise their taxes correspondingly and run the programs themselves, they'd suddenly be a LOT more interested in preventing fraud. Posted by: Moron Analyst at October 02, 2026 03:59 PM (+/CWD) 165

I believe that this is a big reason for the anti-boomer hysteria on social media where social security/medicare is concerned. The left wants to get the yoots all fired over how much money they're being taxed to pay for benefits for the olds and get that idea cemented in their brain so they'll ignore the evidence that it was all being stolen by foreigners.
Posted by: I used to have a different nic at October 02, 2026 03:53 PM (ExV1e) Also, one of the main things ignored by main stream economics is "time preference" since general economic theory treats all preferences and marginal utility in general as identical for "the average consumer". Kids today have short term time preference, which is engendered by high inflation eating all savings and low interest which makes the utility of buying lots of houses to rent really good deal for big companies that can get the lower interest rates and prices the houses out of the range of young buyers. Add to that the extra cost of regulations on houses, operating businesses, hiring, and building cars, there is a triple threat. Can't save, can't earn, borrowing is rigged against them. Blaming the Boomers is a good way to deflect blame. Posted by: Kindltot at October 02, 2026 04:03 PM (rbvCR) 184

Pooky had his annual Medicare/Medicaid assessment over the phone today. The NP asked if he had any questions, and he asked how to get the ball rolling on taking a GLP-1. She said to talk to his primary care doctor and she'd refer him to the weight loss team. I spoke up at that point and explained that he's on two meds (one is the antipsychotic) that make him gain weight. We know this for a fact because he had to be off of them for a few months last year and immediately dropped 50+ pounds. Thankfully, she noted that in her referral to the weight loss team, so we'll see how much they pester him to "eat right and exercise more" when they know that the problem is mostly med-induced.
As for me, I'm gaining weight like I'm supposed to and Wee Pooky is going to be a healthy weight. Posted by: pookysgirl hopes her body is ready for this Christmas at October 02, 2026 04:04 PM (Wt5PA) 188

Why is that important? Because now agencies with programs that had massive fraud will receive a budget that does not reflect that fraud reduction (unless the program is axed). It ultimately means a Democrat House can pass a budget inclusive of that fraud, and then when in full power again restarts it. I keep trying to tell people you should look at any changes in the power or economic structure and game out what will happen of Democrats ever regain power. The bad one's they send a crew in to caulk, paint and sell at an attractive price but in reality far overpriced because it's actually falling apart junk. Sub Station in Columbia SC was great. Great food and a wonderful staff. Posted by: four seasons at October 02, 2026 04:08 PM (/QHx4) Sub Station II’s locally were the only subs I ate for most of my childhood/early adult years. Then Subway came to town and one by one all the Sub Station II’s closed down. The company was re-founded by new owners a few years back and now there are several around the Lowcountry again. They taste very similar to how the subs were originally back in the day. Posted by: SpeakingOf at October 02, 2026 04:13 PM (6ydKt) 219

In-N-Out burgers are better than most other fast food burgers. But let's face it, they're still just burgers. And their fries suck ass. Proper Freedom Fries aren't just sliced fresh potatoes tossed into the fryer. They need to be partially cooked and washed with something to induce the proper crunch BEFORE they go into the fryer. The best part about In-N-Out Burger was the pre-1990 bumper stickers which everyone in Central and Southern California modified into "In-N-Out urge". I save hard cinnamon candy for use when I get nagging coughs - it works better than the drugged stuff for me and those I've given them to. They got so many obviously-fraudulent applications that even fraud-happy Minnesota had to halt the program. It's estimated that three-quarters of the applications are fraudulent. As someone who eats there every time I have to be in Silly-Con Valley, 100% agreed. Burgers are upper tier for a chain, but the fries are godawful. I appreciate the Bible references on their packaging though. Posted by: Ian S. at October 02, 2026 04:19 PM (2ocoG) 228

There’s a local burger joint here named Cookout Burger that actually means what it says on the label, everything tastes like it was made on the back patio grill on the 4th.
The fries are deep fried and greasy. The burgers are grilled on a grill and greasy. And they slap a mound of those long, thin, cut grilled onions on top of the burger and greasy. It tastes like home but I can’t handle all of the onions and greasy. Posted by: SpeakingOf at October 02, 2026 04:23 PM (6ydKt) 230
When people lose their homes and fancy cars and their offshore bank accounts are confiscated, when they are incarcerated and forced to work for free in prison clinics, then the punishment may become a deterrent.
Otherwise, they keep all the stuff, or their family does, and nothing happens. Posted by: nurse ratched at October 02, 2026 03:24 PM (+8HoB) Defraud a Government program once, 5 years in jail. My recent gainzzz is doing a better job of stocking the fridge with home-prepared, easy-to-grab, real, wholesome food items as an alternative to fast food or highly-processed convenience foods. For example, this morning I ate homemade egg bites during my commute. They were quite tasty and contained no mystery ingredients.
Also, I have a different parking situation this year. It's close enough to my destination that I can walk, except it's actually more of a climb than a walk. I only got very slightly sore the first day I climbed to class and not sore at all since then. So it didn't take long to get in shape for that. McDonald’s is a far cry from the McDonald’s as originally portrayed in The Founder. If that portrayal was anything close to real, I have never had fast food in my entire life.
Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at October 02, 2026 03:35 PM (z9/xM) McDonalds has gotten away from their roots. They had a limited menu, and they had a row of wrapped burgers and bags of fries sitting under heat lamps. They never sat there for very long, because they knew the demand curves, and cooked to meet them. You could walk in, pay a couple of bucks, and get your burger, fries, and a soda right then and there, none of this nonsense of a receipt with a number on it. It really was fast food. Fast, and edible. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at October 02, 2026 04:35 PM (n2qDf) 237
The problem with too much fasting is you start to lose muscle mass and then you start to get weak and have balance problems. Be smart.
