Blind Man With No Driver’s License Drinks and Drives Car 150 Miles on Highway

In the early morning hours of June 29, when English officers patrolling the M6 motorway near Carlisle noticed an Opel Meriva swerving chaotically from one lane to the next, they thought they had caught a reckless motorist, but they were in for a big surprise. Not only was the driver visibly drunk, but he had no driver’s license and was almost completely blind!
At a recent hearing, Anthony Hall admitted to drink-driving, driving without a licence or insurance and taking his partner’s car without their consent. His lawyer told the judge that Hall had acted out of desperation, trying to escape a difficult personal situation, including relationship issues and financial problems. However, that did little to explain why a blind person would get behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive on the motorway while intoxicated.

Bizarre Beauty Trend Sees Men Trimming Their Eyelashes to Look More Masculine

Long eyelashes have always been a coveted physical feature among women, so much so that we have an entire industry built around the sale and mounting of fake eyelashes. However, long lashes are not as popular among men. Some “alpha types” apparently consider them too feminine and will have them trimmed for a manlier look, despite the serious health risks of such a procedure.
Videos of young men having their eyelashes cut or trimmed at barber shops or beauty salons started showing up on TikTok and other social media platforms last year, but instead of quickly fizzling out, they apparently turned into a global trend.

Forget about too long or too short -- I refuse to believe ANY guy who thinks about the length of his eyelashes is "alpha". Or even hetero.

What to Wear to the AOSHQ Texas MoMe

The short version: comfortable picnic clothes. The long version is below, because a Texas ranch in the sun will punish anyone who treats this like a cocktail reception, even those of us who are inclined to treat everything like a cocktail reception.

This is an outdoor meetup on a ranch. You will be standing, sitting, walking, eating, and possibly wandering toward whatever shade you can find. Dress for heat, dirt, grass, and a long stretch of being outside. If it looks good at a backyard cookout and you can still move in it after three hours, you are in the right neighborhood.

The basic uniform

Wear something you would actually picnic in.
• Breathable shirt: cotton, linen, or a light performance tee. Light colors help in the sun. A button-down you can leave open over a tee works if you want a little coverage.
• Shorts or casual pants: shorts, jeans you already know are comfortable, or lightweight pants. Remember, if you wear shorts, there are bugs and taller grasses out there. If this bothers you, think more light weight pants.
• Closed-toe shoes you can walk in: sneakers, trail shoes, or broken-in boots. Ranch ground is not a manicured lawn.
• A hat with a brim. Texas sun is not a suggestion.

That is the whole look. Comfortable. Outdoor. Picnic. Ranch.

What “comfortable” actually means here

Comfortable does not mean “I just rolled out of the car in pajama pants.” It means you can sit on a bench or the ground, stand in a cluster talking, walk to the next activity, and not spend the afternoon tugging at clothes that were a bad idea.

Bring a light layer. Even on a hot day, shade, wind, or evening can change the temperature. A hoodie or light flannel stuffed in the car is cheap insurance.

Sun, sweat, and ranch realities

Assume sun. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat will do more for you than any outfit choice.

Assume you will get dusty. Do not wear anything you would be sad to see with grass stains or ranch dirt on it.

Assume bugs. If you are the person mosquitoes treat like a buffet, long sleeves in a light fabric or a bit of repellent.

What not to wear

The brand-new white sneakers you want to keep white, and anything that needs dry cleaning. When walking around the property, you don’t want open toed shoes, unless you are okay with surprises from the grass in the form of stickers or bitey things. This is not the moment to channel Johnny Cash. All black leather is cool, but not when it’s really hot!

A simple packing list

• Breathable shirt and comfortable bottoms
• Walking shoes, closed toe
• Hat and sunglasses
• Sunscreen
• Lip balm – guys too! The air can be VERY dry
• Light extra layer
• Water bottle
• Hearing protection if you are going to shoot
• Safety glasses if you are going to shoot
• Raincoat or poncho because you never know!

You are going to a ranch picnic with the Horde, not a photoshoot. In fact, we don’t even like to take photos! Dress like someone who plans to stay outside, eat, talk, and enjoy people outside of grey boxes.

I think about them once a year when I get new eyeglasses. The lenses have to sit far enough forward that my eyelashes won't touch them.

23 Cow Demon and I were just at Table Rock State Park a couple weeks ago. We didn't climb Table Rock because that hike is too much for me right now. We climbed Stool Mountain which has really nice views of Table Rock, although it was a little cloudy that day.

You might ask yourself, as I did, what could possibly be the serious health risks of trimming your eyelashes?

Eyelashes prevent dirt and debris, including dead skin cells and sweat, as well as UV rays from entering the eye, and trimming them exposes people to infection, itchiness and frequent discomfort.

88 Men are being stupid if this is true & they cut their eyelashes. Nose hair, ok (altho NO PLUCKING unless you want a sinus abcess to the brain, which would be a Darwin way to die).

Long & thick eyelashes are good DNA. I know because I have them & my DIL and I have passed them onto my grands (who are gorgeous & I am not the only biased person who thinks so).

I didn't weirdly seek long eyelashes in my handsome dude (his are ok). I looked at his eyes, & the lashes were not important, altho his kindness was.

The one guy I briefly loved before my dude had them to spare. Our kids they would have have some majorly thick, long and black eyelashes. Of this I am certain. Gorgeous man & we would have crashed & burned I think based on the little time we had together.

I settled for the smoldering and weird courtship instead.

This seems too retarded to contemplate of a guy doing this. I knew of girls in college who tried it to make them thicker. Didn't work.

I will be at the MoMe in spirit and wish I could go. Altho from the heat/sun aspect I'd be wearing a gigantic straw hat (I have many) and a cotton maxi skirt as I hate jeans. Find me in the shade with a gin and tonic. Cheers!

141 As an aside to Verlander's last game....in a coincidence, it was, also, the plate umpire's last game. Laz Diaz was the umpire...and he, also, had a memorable night because every pitch call challenge that both teams used to get a strike or a ball overturned came back as Umpire Diaz being correct.

He was smiling behind his mask on their last attempt so much so that the cameras could see it...because he knew he was right. Then with both teams out of challenges he gave Verlander a solid by calling a high outside ball a strike (and the smile never waivered).

My granddaughter told me today she fell off the jungle gym at school onto her back on Friday. Stood up then fainted for a few minutes (thought she was asleep at home).

She's five & has always been very articulate. A teacher scooped her up & ran to the office & son picked her up.

I want to kill him as he dismisses stuff & did not take her to the ED as he thinks he's an AI Doctor now. She's had one concussion already & he dismissed this one! I didn't know til today.

She seems fine. HOWEVER, she described her hands/arms coming to her chest before she stood up & I silently freaked out (she was coloring at the kitchen table and that's when we talk a lot). My God.

THIS is why I pray for them every night.

Football players do this with head/neck injuries. Fencing reflex. Plus the scooping up by her teacher & passing out almost makes me want to pass out.

I should have been an art history major & ignorant of reflexes & this crap. I did send an email to our son explaining what she said without me asking her. Complete with a football injury scene.

I caught from the moment I was eligible to play little league through every league I was able to play to college. Took a lot of foul balls to head. Still have a couple marbles.

I detest the idea of an electronic strike zone to make the game "better".

Baseball was never supposed to be a video game. That's why there are things like the Green Monster. Stop trying to make baseball trim its eyelashes. It was fine before the designated hitter.

He's listened to me twice for major stuff (and now doesn't call because son is an expert in all things...he's a systems engineer with no medical background).

She fell at 2yrs and whacked the back of her head, hard. Did not lose consciousness. He called on the road to the children's hospital and she puked and I said go to the nearest ED now. He did. She had a small fracture in the back of her skull but was ok. This grandmother thing is going to kill me first.

Last summer grandson, in the midst of others having noro virus, had RLQ abdominal pain and could barely walk. Son called and I told him no urgent care. ED at the new children's hospital near us. I told him of 3 blood markers and he may need a sonogram or CT. Grandson called an hour later (he's 8yrs old) that he was going to surgery. Scope appendectomy and he was home 3hrs post op for me to try to get in some post op teaching to him and parents.

Son had better stop messing with this head injury deal with them.

Have not ever needed much make up and mascara is my big deal. Always. The most expensive make up I wear and it's worth it...even in my grandmother years.

I know this may sound weird to others but I've had ONE mani/pedi in my entire life. Before son's wedding. I HATED the Korean woman messing with my toes. Gave me the heebie geebies. I spend that money on my highlights instead.

I need to go to bed and stop seeing my beautiful granddaughter injured or dead in my subconscious. There was some sort of rubber cover under the jungle gym.

And, yeah, I fell off a lot of things, flew off a merry go round and got gravel in one knee. But I never passed out with a concussion (I had at least one with a shiner in basketball).

She is fearless and I want to keep her that way. Took them to a park today and she remains fearless and I sent photos to son who thinks I am neurotic to prove I didn't stop her.

Did you spin the handle on the propane valve to full-open? You might have tripped the automatic overflow protection that prevents the tank from dumping its contents into the open air.

Try disconnecting the bottle, which resets the pressure, reconnecting, and then barely cracking the valve.

I have one stubborn propane bottle, that no matter how slowly or partially I open the valve-- it trips the overflow. Think I'll hook it back up to the grill & use it for some pleasant evening heat (rather than cooking) until it's empty, and then exchange it.

Well, they confirmed the existence of something in our galaxy. It's dubbed IRAS 18293-0941, and is a "micro-blazar". That's a black hole in a tight orbit around a supergiant star, which is sucking in material off the star, and forming polar jets where particles get accelerated to ridiculous energies, making the LHC look puny in comparison.

I'm probably screwed this year. Mrs B can't make it and I'm not into a solo drive. If I myself had more time I would go all kinds of "then came bronson" and meander my silly ass out on the touring bike, visit some friends along the way along a southern route where it's warmer. Maybe take 4 or 5 days to get out there and maybe figuring in a few extended stays along the way if it rains. Not doing rain on a bike. I would rather have a grenade colonoscopy.

They've also discovered evidence that the Milky Way's central black hole likely turned on (spewing jets) in the recent past.

Surprisingly, one of those was just 200 years ago. This was just a little baby burp. But about 2.6 million years ago, it likely went into full AGN/quasar mode.

Erf would still be in no danger from this. Well, the black hole's spin axis is perpendicular to the galactic plane. Now, if something cause that jets to blast through the plane, and right in our direction, it would be a very different story. But that can't happen....by any known mechanism.

It's a particle accelerator like you wouldn't believe, making the LHC look pitiful in terms of the energies it can accelerate particles to. Just call it "near the speed of light".

How it does this is a very complicated thing, and only recently really worked out. This is the full glory of Strong Field General Relativity coupled with EM fields, Maxwell Equations.

Big toe is gaining flexibility & becoming less painful day by day. The purple is very very s l o w l y fading on it, but has intensified on middle 3 toes as of today. Pinky toe is the only one unaffected.

Now, what's the most energetic process yet known in the universe in terms of how fast it converts mass to energy? There are some mind-boggling things, but gravity is the king.

It's funny, gravity is by far the weakest of all the "four forces", but yet it always wins in the end. And it does here too, in the form of gravitational radiation.

The most energetic wave event was seen by LIGO a while back, two spinning black holes merging, about 60-80ish solar mass. As the spiral in, they start emitting stronger and stronger gravitational waves. It's not much as first, but that final few moments, right when the event horizons merge, it becomes enormous.

Anyway, at that peak power that merger "rang" with gravitational radiation power of 90 solar masses per second being converted to energy. This was only for a short time, and so "only" 9 solar masses total was converted.

The mass of the final black hole is less than the sum of the original. The difference went to that gravitational radiation. So, there was 9 solar masses "missing" after the merger.
