My two furry thugs do that from time to time. Rarely do they sleep any closer. Wolf and Chekov would cuddle together and groom each other (thus my jokes to Linda about "Chekov has yet to come out of the closet"), but these two keep a certain distance.

30 G'morning, all!

Almost 18 days on the road, and finally finished back home last night.

Almost a week in Vegas, visited with son and DiL before his deployment which begins today.

Road trip up the eastern shore and across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel during this nor'easter.

Multiple days in Baltimore with MiL working on home repairs before winter sets in.

And first night back home, the morning temps right now are only 49 degrees.

And church in a few hours.

Google “Metal Scrap Dealers” in your area and contact them about your copper.

Tell them what you have, and ask how much it’s worth, and what, if any, paperwork you need or have to fill out.

You might find it’s not worth your time if it’s not a lot of tubing and it’s too much of a hassle to sell it.

I don't recall being "Hot for teacher " although I do recall a nice looking guy in his twenties who was my English teacher. He didn't like teaching and went into something else. I also had a funny teacher ( Can't recall which grade-maybe 5th?) . He had a phone in his desk and used to interrupt class by saying he had to take a call from the President. I think he became a truck driver.

You are correct!

Her next trip is in December, so that should be done and back to normal.

But she took Amtrak down in the beginning of this month and it was pretty much a challenge to remain on schedule.
And she rode back to B'More with us this week, so she is home and safe.

For all college/university I think the ratio if 60/40 female/male.

Fen, I know TG was his second novel. His first, Norwood, is not a Western but a then-present-day novel about a country boy traveling to the city. Glen Campbell and Kim Darby starred in a movie version of it around 1970, I think.

I think Portis has written more since TG.

When I look back on my years in school from the 80s into the 90s, it wasn't really all that different.

I can remember some male teachers in school, but it was probably 80-85% female even back then.

I actually had more male professors in college classes but even then it was probably 70/30.

I think women are just naturally drawn to teaching for whatever reason.

The Lotus Eaters were hammering this point over and over again for a few months on the same thing going on in the UK.

They went through the official numbers, news articles and other sources and came to the conclusion that the entire youth unemployment rate in England can be explained by the fact that all the entry-level jobs for young people were filled by imported migrants.

I'm sure the same thing is happening in Canada and Oz, to some extent, and here as much as they can get away with it.

Yeah, it depends on what grade you are in, I think. I didn’t have a male teacher until 3rd Grade. None after until 6th, from that point onwards they just increased in number. It reflects life in a way. Women gravitate towards the younger kids (you see this in elementary school) and men the older kids. I would not want to teach any younger than, say, 7th Grade.

It was probably middle school when I had my first male teacher, too.

He was a big bear of a man, with a long white beard (he could've passed for Santa Claus). Taught math and was a very good teacher.

Before that it was all female from K -5.

I think he stayed in teaching because I met him again just within the past few years and thanked him for his kindness. He also was a disciplinarian . He picked up boys by their collars who were being pains . He also made sure their hands weren't near the desks and if the boys were wild he would slam down the tops of the top opening desks. There is no way a teacher could get away with that today !

138 I went to elementary school in Brooklyn, PS 160. One of my teachers, Miss Eunice Hashagen, was hired in 1923 and worked at PS 160 until 1973. On an NYC website a couple years ago, I found her address and you could see her salary and increments every year she worked. Going to Google Maps, I found her nice house in Park Slope. She was an excellent, no-nonsense teacher ,but I was never hot for her in 1964. She wore those black granny shoes older ladies wore in those days.
