This afternoon, I stumbled across something fascinating. The "chain fountain effect" also called the Mould effect, after the (re)discoverer, Steve Mould, who stumbled onto it 10-15 years ago. Here's his first video showing this crazy looking effect:

This is an example of some relatively simple mechanics/physics that hadn't been analyzed. Something you'd think would be "easy" but is not. Why does that chain kick itself up in that rising arc? A lot of analysis and arguments followed, and you can find a lot of it on his channel.
Apparently this effect was known at least back in the late 1800's as a crazy parlor trick, but it languished until Mould stumbled onto it again....

That chain fountain was studied in depth by a couple of Cambridge physicists and they explained the upward kick force as a reaction force. But there were other forces apparently at work as well, and Mould and someone else got into a friendly dispute over this. Lots of variations showing different crazy effects.
Steve had a theory, but to test it properly required zero-g. Observe chain behavior under certain conditions in free-fall.
Astronaut Don Pettit did it. He's a sucker for "nerd sniping" (a term I just learned today as well):

This was a wild time for firearms. Muzzle-loaders were dirt cheap and still to be had, and then you had conversions, and then black powder breach-loaders competing against smokeless ones. Bannerman was dumping a ton of cheap surplus onto the market, the detritus of a half-century of military production.
That's not even dealing with the gunsmith specials. You know who is deep into this stuff? Tom Selleck. He's selling off a lot of his stuff, and the guy is a serious nerd for cowboy stuff.

I was a completely irreligious kid when I played D&D, and didn't get any of the references. I saved much of my stuff, and going through it, it's amazing to me how much of their "polytheistic multi-verse" is chained to Catholic theology/demonology.
St. Augustine's City of God is really illuminating in this respect, drawing the lines between the various Greco-Roman gods and the false gods of the Old Testament.

The holdout juror is NOT an immigrant. According to marriage and divorce records, he married a Haitian immigrant. She was illegal. He did not know this when he married her.
He did not show his face. He is keeping to himself since his name was doxxed on X. His life has been threatened, and people have stalked his house. NBC Boston did not give you the full story.
Michael, the juror, is now divorced. He filed for divorce first. The marriage was fraudulent because she was not a citizen. When he did this, everything hit the fan. She didn’t want a divorce. His ex-wife filed a counterclaim a couple of months later. He was denied his divorce petition because she was not an American citizen.
The incident with the nephew — according to the juror, there is a lot of information that many do not know. For example, the nephew is 6-foot-2, and Michael is only 5-foot-7. This obviously does not give anyone the right to hit anyone. But I think it is safe to say that we do not know all of the facts of the matter.

None of this matters when it comes to what happened in the courtroom. He filled out his paperwork appropriately. He did not lie on his paperwork. He was asked if he had ever been arrested, and he checked the box “yes” and afterward had to describe what happened.
He even took the stand, and the prosecutor asked him questions. He was questioned about his past arrest. He was then selected. I would like to make it very clear that this is something that happens with all of the potential jurors present. Which means that the jurors who have already been interviewed could have said this at any point, but they chose to keep that information from the public.
Michael told Fugitive TV that from day one, eight of the jurors automatically wanted to go for not guilty.

Another cool one is LISA, schedule to launch in 2035. This a gravitational wave detector of a quite crazy idea. Three spacecraft will be launched into heliocentric orbits. They will maintain a triangle with precise station keeping. The orbits to do this are quite fascinating.

Michael stated that he believes he’s being targeted because he is a Republican - a Black Republican with conservative values. He believes that he was on a juror panel with a large number of Democratic voters. And he knows exactly what’s happening right now, and I think that you all do as well.

My wife's aunt and uncle lived like that well into the 20th century. No running water, no electricity. Wood stove for cooking and heat. Raised cows, chickens and pigs. Garden too. Canned whatever they needed for winter.
They knew every plant and what it was, or wasn't good for.
I understand that once they passed the land, the house, all of it, was bought by an Amish family and AFAIK are still there.
