Iraq is rushing to contain a major regional crisis after confirming that a drone attack shutting down a vital Saudi Arabian oil pipeline originated from Iraqi territory. Baghdad has fired a military commander and shut Iranian border crossings to launch an investigation. With the wider Iran-U.S. war already destabilizing regional trade, Baghdad faces massive pressure to disarm local Iran-backed militias before a Sept 30 deadline - but Iran-backed Shia terror groups are refusing to comply. 9h More information about the Internationally Recognized Government (IRG)/IRG-aligned force’s offensive against the Houthis to the south, that ultimately, culminated in failure. According to CNN, citing a number of officials and sources with knowledge on the matter, the Saudis failed to embed key enablers, such as JTACs and FSOs (rightly mentioned by @WeaponScientist) with IRG/IRG-aligned forces during their offensive. This enabled the Houthis to make considerable gains, due to the absence of Saudi airstrikes, during counteroffensive operations, that ultimately led to the capture of the key port city of Mocha and islands from which they can exercise control over the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Evening, Horde. I did hobby-related stuff today. Slapped the last fiberglass patches (I think, LOL) on the main body tube for the dune buggy, and bolted the spacer girdle to the bottom of the body with a whole bunch of 5/16" bolts. Then I flipped it over, and drove Tek screws in between each pair of bolts. A whole bunch of them. Then removed all the bolts. And everything stayed put! No ominous crackling of fiberglass, or heads of screws pulling through from the tension. Woot! Now the body is sitting on the floor pan. No bolts in yet; that's on the agenda for tomorrow.
And I got the ditches mowed, and a bunch of tidying/sorting done in the shop, too. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at September 12, 2026 09:11 PM (1z8ji) 52

My wife helped me pick a row of concord and Thompson grapes today, and I wound up pressing and canning 7 gallons (28 quarts) of grape juice. Then it started raining.
The good news is that the new ratchet press works very good with a liner in it to keep the grapes from squirting through the staves. The bad news is that I still have to figure out a way to pre-crush the grapes since I had uncrushed grapes left when I cleaned the press out. But a bonus could be paid to those who return alive and well. Key takeaway? No soldier has been ordered to go fight in that conflict. I think the question is how to dry them for storage. Locally the farmers used forced air heat in large barns to dry the flowers on racks. You might hang the vines to dry in your garage if it is heated and dry. Posted by: Kindltot at September 12, 2026 09:36 PM (rbvCR) 113
