Federal Appeals Court Keeps Stay on Trump's Ballot-Checking Order While Supreme Court Dithers; Supreme Court Refuses to Allow Missouri to Use Its Redrawn Maps

I thought this foreign judge had already been overturned by the Supreme Court?

Did she once again ignore the Supreme Court and impose her stay despite the Supreme Court just overruling her last stay?

I'm not sure. But she did re-impose her stay, and a three-judge appeals court panel -- made up entirely of Biden appointees -- refused to lift the stay.

What they're doing is delaying this as long as possible so that they can then claim "It will cause chaos to implement this policy at this late date, there's just not enough time to implement it properly."

An appeals court on Thursday upheld a block on President Donald Trump's executive order limiting mail voting, a decision that comes as the Supreme Court considers the same case and states have already started sending out ballots for the high-stakes midterm elections.
The three-judge panel refused to lift a preliminary injunction against the order issued last week by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani. It prohibits the U.S. Postal Service from implementing Trump's directive. The Postal Service has said it would not deliver ballots from states that did not pre-clear their envelope design with the federal government and submit a list of voters to an online portal, which has yet to be activated.
Election officials warn that it's impossible to comply with those terms, especially with the first mail ballots already being sent out in Alabama, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

The panel of three judges nominated by former President Joe Biden agreed with the plaintiffs that the president does not have the power to regulate states' election policy.
"Appellants have not made a strong showing that the district court erred in determining that the Final Rule is likely unlawful," they wrote, a reference to a rule published by the Postal Service to implement Trump's order.
The panel wrote that the Trump administration had done little to dispel arguments by many election officials that the changes would bring "chaos and widespread disenfranchisement."

The government also hasn't shown evidence of past fraud to justify the restrictions, the judges said.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday declined for the second time to intervene in a dispute over redistricting maps in Missouri.
The high court ruling follows a federal judge in Missouri on Tuesday temporarily blocked the state from using its 2022 congressional districts in the midterms. That ruling came just moments after the Supreme Court let stand a decision from the Missouri Supreme Court ordering Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins to use the 2022 map.
An anti-gerrymandering group, People Not Politicians, on Wednesday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a lower court's order from Tuesday night, mandating Missouri use a GOP redistricting map.
The Supreme Court's decision Thursday appears to be the end of the push to use the 2025 redistricting map, according to the Associated Press.

That's what the Missouri Supreme court ordered, yes.

Then Kavanaugh declined to intervene, but a lower court judge did and ordered that the new maps be used.

The Missouri Supreme court wanted a hearing to find the Election officials in contempt, and Missouri appealed to the judge to stop the hearing. That's about where my info ends.

There were many words and expletives but it mostly boiled down to the Peter principle. Good lawyers tend to remain lawyers. Nobody wants a judge who cares about the law and justice, for the same reason no lawyer wants that in a juror. They need pliable imbeciles. 69 From my limited reading of this case the SOS of missouri has been directed by a federal judge to use the new map for november eliminating the democrat seat even though the missouri supreme court ruled that he could not do that.

SCOTUS decided to not intervene in a different lawsuit because the current judgement rendered the previous decision by the MO SC null and void. In Navy terms this entire mess has been OBE (overtaken by events).

Plus I could be completely wrong as this case is so complex I doubt anyone really knows what has been decided or overturned at this point.
