68 I can already hear some of the comments but I will persevere.

This is a lovely and loving painting of Renoir's wife and first born. Every part of the painting is soft, feminine, and peaceful. The colors are muted, nothing harsh. The background is clear enough to be understood but sufficiently indistinct enough to make the woman and baby stand out as the true focus. Her expression is contented and satisfied, doing something completely natural to her. Nothing sexual about any of it. Renoir captures a timeless human activity expressed gently and with affection.

I really like this painting. I can't paint but started to imagine trying to photograph the same scene: film qualities, lens, depth of field, lighting, etc.

118 If that truly is the artist's wife and child, he was doing quite well, financially.
They are... substantial.
Gotta go peel potatoes. Kid and wife are coming over this afternoon and bringing ribs and dessert, we're making the potato salad and corn. If it stays clouded over but doesn't rain, we may eat outside - the sun at 34° lat and 6000' is a killer. I'd like to put up.some sort of sunshade, but the not-unusual 40-80 mph breezes requires something more sturdy than I have space.

121 Diogenes at least you could clean it up. If dog had died that would be a bigger mess to cover
