I kept trying alternatives, building proofs of concept, and throwing them away, convinced that if I could just find the right combination, lightning would strike and my creativity would be unlocked again.

And... I was right. Took me one day to get my blog working on the new programming language and the new database that I spent that long detour building.

30 Dromedary Fig Tapioca Pudding

Cook until clear: 3 tbsp granulated tapioca (can blend normal tapioca); 2 cups water; 1 tsp butter.

Cook until smooth and thick: 4 oz dried figs; 1 cup water; 1 cup sugar.

Mix the two together, with ½ tsp vanilla. serve cold with whipped cream.

Yes, Fig Newtons are still available, as well as a variety of other Newtons.

I generally liked Fig Newtons as a kid, but the ratio of fig:breading was always too low.

The fruit versions are because if you’re going to provide too little filling, it might as well be flavorless, too.

45 Wiki says "Newtons," the current name (because they have other fruit varieties), were first sold by the Kennedy Biscuit company and named for Newton, MA. Nabisco inherited the recipe in 1898 when they were created by merger with the New York Biscuit Company, which had bought Kennedy a while before that.

To me, a raspberry or strawberry Newton sounds appealing in a way a Fig Newton doesn't.

From what I gather, the "Deadpool" character is a Marvel-universe superhero with a sarcastic turn in his dialog -- refreshing nowadays, when so many movie and TV characters (and the films or shows they are in) are thuddingly serious and grim.

57 Deadpool is a superhero/villain (it’s hard to tell sometimes) character in Marvel comics who basically cannot be killed because he underwent the same type of medical experiment procedure that Wolverine did.

He has a wicked sense of humor and is basically insane, literally, because of the effects of the experiment.

So people liked the comics because they are funny, crazy, and violent with Deadpool talking to the reader by breaking through the fourth wall amd going on extended diatribes.

The movies follow a similar template and are auite funny at times, though it’s always teenaged boy type humor.

66 Another silly movie with Ryan Reynolds was “Dick” (1999), referring to Richard Nixon and several teeny bopper dog walkers hired by the White House. It had loads of naughty word play. I watched it on VHS tape ( from Blockbuster?), but then decided it was VERY inappropriate for kids or tweenagers to watch.

Must’ve only watched it once, or pieces of it, and wasn’t impressed.

Ryan Reynolds also played Green Lantern in the movie version that came out about a decade or so ago.

He mainly plays in action comedies or comedies which he is suited for.

Hollywood got invaded by Canadians with senses of humor starting with Jim Carey, to Michael Myers, then Seth Rogan & crew. Reynolds rolled unto town around then.
