When I was 10, my buddy and I would mow lawns for $2. We'd split the proceeds, and go to the local 7-11 equivalent, which had a whole aisle of penny candy.

After her death was an article in the NY Post about a song chose for Dolly at her funeral . It was "If I don't see you here I'll meet you in heaven" or something like that . It mentioned heaven four times . The writer said It crossed regional Racial and religious lines . I said "It's a religious song. I don't think atheists are belting out a song about heaven" although atheists may very well appreciate her non religious songs. Then numerous folks got into a fight with each other how atheists can be fine people and they didn't need God to make them good, which I said nothing about.


I think fighting with people you don't know and have never meet must take up some huge amount of time on social media . Uggh!

I'm by the computer in the computer room. Ralphy is sleeping on his quilt and blanket on the floor. Snowflake is inside. She came down, looked up at the 3 foot or so bookcase she uses to jump to the window and the tall bookcase and just thought "Uhhh, no."

I weighed her today. She's still under 10 pounds. I lifted her. Maybe she's having an off day.

That's one of the things that annoyed me most about USAID and the other charity programs we paid for. They had no idea where the money was coming from. The Catholic church has the reputation of helping all these third world countries with Catholic Relief services. USAID goes bye bye and they lay off over 75% of their work force. The Catholic church was taking all the credit for their work, while the US funded it without credit. None of these countries know that we have essentially been subsidizing their lives.

Two of them. One's outside by the corner and one's here in the computer room. They're really cute. Nicely painted. 170 pounds - concrete. The pedestals are 70 lbs.

Today I went with my dude to the eye doc to drive home as he developed a big floater in his eyeball yesterday. Like a big annoying fly. We had to go to the university eye building. I think we were the only white people there. I debated yelling ICE to see if we could get in quicker. I was very close but refrained. I also wanted to yell, "Speak English" at one old broad.

He's fine but has put me through a rough few days this week (not that bad, all will be fine, but I don't multi stress well anymore). His retina is fine.

I did not want him going partially blind as we wait to see what they are going to do for his torn hip muscle, from the surprise MRI on Monday, due to running fast for long distances for 40yrs. I just knew running was bad for you (hated it), and swam instead. He may just need PT being olde. This is what we hope vs surgery.

Have a great weekend, y'all. I'm maybe going to get organized or something productive. Going nowhere fast.

And we were talking about the lack of ads in Michigan and Texas a day or so ago. MS Now reported that President Trump has about $403 million dollars ready to be spent on ads.

The idiot token DEI black guy commented it won't be spent since Trump is a grifter. The host agreed. Damn, they should be sued. But as people pointed out, the ads haven't started flowing because the elections are too far out. I'm guessing the last 5 weeks or so will be wall to wall ads.

El-Sayed is running pretty constant right now. My favorite. He's living the American dream. Awww.

Back in the day TX didn’t teach it in public school until 3rd Grade. I moved to Germany halfway through second and they were already hip deep into cursive writing. I had to learn it on my own, “just follow the examples above the board” the teacher said. Then I got home and my sister explained the whole bit of never picking up the pencil until you are done writing the word…

All of that messed me up something fierce with cursive. Haven’t written it since eight grade I think.

No idea BUT, there's a pair of them just down the road from me. The old couple that feed them and care for them (I'm pretty sure the dogs are the owners in this case) let them out in a fenced in area about 6 feet high. One of them routinely jumps the fence, runs over to our house for scritches or to watch me work in the yard and then runs back home and jumps the fence again to be 'home'.

I like to write cursive and I always appreciated getting these lovely cards for special occasions from the older folks in the church I served because it was beautiful writing and nice sentiments . Now when I go shopping and stop in the store I say to some of the older folks there " I think it's wonderful you send cards."

199 Two CBP officers on border TDY down here from Seattle once came by the museum where I volunteered and asked if their Malinois could "practice" there before the public hours started (outside).

These guys were big, and very buff. The dogs pulled them around like they were 9-yr old girls. Guns, and money. They stashed old Model 36 revolvers (uncleaned, lots of GSR) and money (aereated baggies of shredded $5 bills from Treasury) around outside. Doggies found 'em instantly. Impressive.

The purpose of cursive is to write clearly and quickly with a dip pen nib or a fountain pen. The benefit today is that having good clear handwriting gives and impression of you when you are not there.
Mom taught school and had a beautiful Palmer cursive hand, and she hated my block lettering and thought I could do better. After she died I took it upon myself to learn cursive and I do it well.

Haven't had one but they climb trees! I love them.

Our Shepherd/Malamute/Husky pup grew to look like an Akita.Gilda had a Shepherd face and husky tail. Loved people she met as a pup & vetted. Slow to love others. She cross country skied with us, camped, went to FL to try to kill a lifeguard on the beach. Smart dog.

Once I was reading the newspaper after a 3-11 shift in my nightgown. Heard a rustle in a bush from a window in LR. Saw a tall guy come through front gate, thought, oh, crap.

Never said a word to Gilda. She knew something was wrong. Sensed it. No training. Quiet, not barking. Followed me as I quickly got dressed and heard the middle gate open. We used to leave the backdoor unlocked of that 100yr old house.

I got to that door at the same time as the guy, with Gilda glued to my right leg. Opened the door and said, "Get him, Gilda!"

Gave him the shock of his life, lunged at him. Bit his ass as he escaped over the back fence. She was proud.

Would have made a great military or police doggie.

As for hating other states, I generally don't hate anything in any serious way, certainly not states. I probably don't even rise to the level of Rick's comment to Ugarte, at the bar, when it comes to this sort of thing.

Growing up in a golden era in CA, didn't think a lot about other states. Personally was much more interested in the outside world. Just wish the CA hate had started much earlier, before 15M+ moved to the place they hate (leaving illegal migration completely out of it). Dunno if the political collapse/death would have gone differently, but quality of life otherwise would have remained much higher.

Schwegmann's was the local predecessor to Walmart. A gigantic grocery, but it also sold toys and books and all sorts of things. The huge one in town had an upstairs portion with insurance agencies and a barbershop. We used the brown paper bags for school book covers.

That's the joke. The pic looks really warm and inviting until you notice Hitler standing there. I'm not saying it's an amazing joke but it's literally the joke. Some jokes rely completely on surprise as the gimmick.

I was going through a fancy princess stage with my own bedroom, French provencial furniture, and a canopy bed. Ruffled curtains. The works.

I bought a twee wind up alarm clock that was white/gold and plastic... but French looking to add to the vibe.

It's lucky to still exist in MS because I HATED it tinkling, "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" at 0530 so I could catch the bus. I am amazed I did not throw it against a wall.

I still hate that song.

In college my roommate's clock would be on a rock station at 0700 and Maggie Mae was nearly daily. I am not fond of that song, either. Nor of the former roommate who smoked like a chimney and gave me sinus problems.

279 Spend a little time talking to regular people in more remote parts of 3rd and 2nd world countries and you won't find much "hate" for the US. On the contrary. Outside the dim and brainwashed "educated" types in Europe and a few other places, and weird westernized upper class (as in Pakistan), I've never found much genuine anti-US sentiment (and it's stupid and uninformed, without exception), and often quite the opposite.

Iron Lungs. They still flip me out. I read about people in them and I think a very old man recently died after living in one for half a century.

It was the head sticking out and talking to mirrors (people) that did me in.

I didn't want to even think about the rest.

I was maybe 8yrs old but did not bring it up with my parents (phobia). They thought I was weird enough not knowing everything that went through my mind, which was a lot.

I read fast and remember details, near photographic memory which has faded like a Polaroid. Which came in handy when studying everything but algebra, which I hated in 9th grade and did not try.

IIRC, Isar hasn't had a successful launch yet. They've either aborted or blown up. Adds a little more excitement.

I don't watch many of the SpaceX or ElectronLab launches; they're too reliable. Starship, though, is still interesting.

We had cajun cousins from Chalmette. When we visited we'd walk a few blocks to a bowling alley with them. Which brings up another phobia I acquired young: bowling shoes. I think they are icky. I am also a poor bowler and don't care.

Rode a bus to NOLA with an older cousin and a pervert on the bus exposed himself to us. Cousin was horrified and I laughed as I didn't know what was going on with the hobo.

They also have giant mosquitos and most of the place is built on a landfill that gave people cancer after hurricane floods. The End.
