I don't understand what's going on.
It's the defense attorney who says he wants the juror excluded for refusing to follow the judge's orders about what "reasonable doubt" means. So... does this mean that 11 jurors are voting to acquit and one lone juror is insisting on a conviction? And the other jurors are claiming that the juror is inserting a "more likely than not" standard over the more stringent "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard? And how could you even say that this is just a matter of feeling that the prosecution is slightly more persuasive than the defense? Were they all absent the day they presented evidence? The defense lawyer claims this juror keeps "ignoring the law" and will not accept the judge's rules as to the threshold of evidence required to convict. I'm more sure now, it's 11 to acquit and one to convict, the defense wants to get the one "convict" vote off the jury so he can get a 12-0 acquittal. If the lone juror stays on the jury and does not flip, it goes to a new trial, tho the prosecution will just strike a deal.

It seems to me that that assessment of reasonable doubt is a personal one, and I am not wholly convinced that such claims are not merely opportunistic fakery to avoid prison myself.
I don't know why you would then instruct such a juror that it is not about removing ALL possible doubt, unless that is merely defense attorney puffery.

There is a segment of young women who were raised as princesses, got everything they ever wanted, coasted through life, then got some responsibilities and have thrown a tantrum for years about how unjust it all is and men are to blame.
I am no parent but did really like the guy I read who said that its tempting to raise your daughter as a princess protected from everything but then you aren't readying her for life and will make her more miserable as a result. You don't raise her like a boy but she's gotta face tough times and scary things at least a little to get used to the idea.

I tend to see insanity as being a dodge. Technically it should be that you don't have the requisite mental intent (the guilty mind) to be held accountable for murder. (I thought I was shooting a bear, turns out I was hallucinating, it wasn't a bear. Well if the jury believes that shit, you really didn't intend to kill a human, and you have a brain tumor that causes hallucinations I can see letting you off and signing you up for neurosurgery.) That's not this case.

So, in the Catholic Church, a sin may be mortal or it may be venial, but it is still a sin.

That's why most suicides now get a Catholic funeral and burial, because one needs to be crazy to commit the act itself. Not all, but most.
That also does not mean one is exempt from criminal punishment for actions. Often the granting of absolution is tied to turning yourself into the cops and taking your civil punishment. No murderer would be absolved without facing the civil music.

And get rid of the "not competent to stand trial". I don't care how nuts you are, you don't need to know what is going on. Sane people don't know what is going on in a trial half the time. Jury intimidation by the crazy woman yesterday taking photos should have been reason enough for a mistrial. Plus the two? female jurors who wore pink proudly to unite with the crazy women outside.

Is it a common thing for a defense attorney to ask for the removal of a juror because they disagree with the defense?
This "mother," at the very least, should be locked up in a mental hospital for the rest of her life. And I hope sees the sweet faces of her own children she snuffed out every time she closes her eyes.
Her "suicide" was faked. Then to find out her mother or MIL helped daily, plus a nanny, plus the older two kids in daycare/preschool...well, that slanted me further away from her postpartum psychosis when the baby was 8mo old. She had plenty of help vs normal mothers. Plenty of time to rest for those 8mo.
She's intelligent enough to fake whatever answers she gave.
I read the first things she said to her husband, as she lay on the ground, were if her legs were straight. Not of her children she just killed.
In ICU one of her first comments was to ask if she had an attorney. Not grief. Thinking of #1.

Remains to be seen if this causes a social earthquake bigger than Kirk getting shot, or not. I'd say about 50% of my broader social circle (of which there are basically zero moonbats; those are banished to "people I know professionally, or family we don't talk to" at best) are currently permanently ejecting at least one woman out of their lives on account of this trial.
Between this and the Kirk assasination, virtually all of them have gone zero tolerance for lefties and various types of crazies. No communication, no socializing, no aid, 100% cut off. Maybe give them a second chance if they come back years later admitting they were batshit.

Prepare for another trial rather than let her walk free.
And while I'm certainly not a lawyer, the prosecutors need to toughen up and "say those children's names" constantly. Show pictures of them alive as often as possible. Talk about pre-school if Cora and/or the oldest son attended. Have family, pre-school teachers talk about the children.
Do as the street learned to do, make them the victims and make them real.

What we are seeing now is the same mental process for killing babies. Leftists never truly beleived their semantic gymnastics about "unviable fetus" or "just an embryo" or "clump of cells". In their minds, abortion was about "killing human babies" all along. There is no separation between unborn baby and born baby or even toddler. It's always been about a deep resentment towards the existance of children in general.
Children are the ultimate "my actions have consequences" for leftists, and since the democratic party's underlying ethos is "you can, and SHOULD have a consquence-free life!", they will fight to the death to justify these murders.

And therein lies the problem.
I do think she was nuts. I think she did it. I think the failures that led to the tragedy include incredibly negligent medical care and, frankly, a highly irresponsible husband. That says nothing about whether she should be convicted or in jail. But if you actually cared about stopping this in the future, you would focus on the *sane* people who could have intervened and chose not to.
This is like the guy who stabbed Iryna Zarutska. Is he nuts? Yes, although I don't care about that for punishment. But the failures of the DAs and judges will make a thousand more Iryna Zarutskas, and fixing that problem is at least as important as convicting Decarlos Brown.
The problem, though, is that right-leaning men hate left-leaning women so much that they end up not caring at all about the actual dead children or grossly misdiagnosed mother. They just want to screw over the AWFLs - not actually fix even a part of the problem.
