Dawn Light, 56, pleaded not guilty to the charge of aggravated intimidation of a juror in the same courthouse where Clancy's high-profile triple murder trial has been underway for the past six weeks. Light -- a retired nurse -- allegedly pulled her blue Toyota into a "restricted area" of the court premises and filmed and took photos from inside the car as jurors were leaving court Tuesday afternoon, prosecutor Nicole Piacentini claimed. In mom's case, it was just the thing a married woman did. They kept trying until they got a boy. I was the fourth girl, so, mostly a throwaway. I'm sure these days we just say use contraception, which is never an option for Catholics, but back then, only whores used contraception (according to certain levels of society). At any rate, I think a lot of women who grew up with very few siblings have no idea what childbearing or child raising involves, since they never saw it. They are woefully unprepared to deal with it. I know DH had no idea how to change a diaper or that you had to burp a baby. He never grew up around childcare. So it probably comes as a surprise. Plus, there are very few stay at home moms who pool resources anymore. I remember 16 or more kids in our backyard while other moms went to the beauty parlor or grocery store. That doesn't happen now.

My Mom was a nurse. She suffered badly from depression, but she was not crazy. (Depression ran in her family.) Successfully raised six children. A very intelligent and sensible woman.
She also served as a flight nurse in the Army Air Corps in WWII. Was in Normandy only about a week after the invasion.
She was the best.

Their recent episode covering Clancy was where Dr Drew talked about the resources and connections Clancy had to get help, being a nurse.
I appreciated Sage's take on Clancy's mental state and her compassion, because before the ep I was all "just fry her." Sage suffered postpartum depression, which is different from psychosis, but she was able to talk about the isolation and despite you feel ok that mental space.
They all agreed it's just a tragedy all around, and I 100% feel that too. Her doctors and Big Pharma failed her. She was suffering and clearly needed more mental help. She failed as a mom and a human by snuffing out the life of her vulnerable children.

Also, another dangerous thing has locked into our post-modern society. That is, prison is primarily a venue for reform. Utterly stupid and wrong. The reform of prisoners is not and has not been a element of accountability. It's rare, and more importantly, only extraneous. The purpose is to remove dangerous or unethical people from preying on society.

My mother became a nurse in the 1930s, when it was real work, changing bedpans and the like. Not long ago I found out she had been quite the expert on communicable diseases, and came back to LSU Nursing School for a time to lecture on the subject.

I saw some comments yesterday like “MY mom had PPD and because she’s actually a good person, she never thought about killing me!!” And like?? Congrats? YOUR mom didn’t suffer the same thing that other women do. Don’t act like your mom is on some moral high horse.
Her life has been destroyed, regardless. Her children are gone. Marriage destroyed. Family changed forever. Whether she ends up in prison or a psychiatric hospital, there are no happy days ahead for her, I wager. On top of all of this she is paralyzed and incontinent for the rest of her life, and she is not an old woman. It's a tragedy all around.
Prison isn't going to help anything.
We have such a long way to go when it comes to mental health for women. I also hate how so many men assume they understand a disorder that’s exclusively experienced by women
Therapist of over 30 years here. People can be psychotic and absolutely know to hide the symptoms. She is not guilty.

I think only at most in terms of sentencing. Not guilt. She might not deserve the same punishment as someone who plainly murdered their kids in pure cold blood because she wanted to be with a guy who didn't want kids. (This has happened, btw.)
But any diminished mental capacity shouldn't affect her guilt. We need to get past the pro-criminal commie idea that "insanity" gets you a not-guilty verdict.

If it was me, if I was on trial for killing my kids, and I could finally make a public statement, I would tear them all a new one, tell them off for lionizing me. That I regret what I did and want to die, how dare they use me like this for their own agendas. That they are all sick and need help and I hope their spouses take away their kids and get full custody. Because their kids clearly aren't safe with them.

I was on a federal jury (banking) in Orlando. Not sequestered but put in a hotel as I lived over an hour away. I was told NOT to look at the story online or in papers for the 3 nights.
I spent the time watching a documentary on Dolly Madison. I was paranoid "they" would figure out what I was watching or want to see my laptop. I ain't no fool.
I was not the foreman but to prevent a hung jury (pool was 1/2 Dim & GOP from voting registration, or so I read), I sort of took over. Which is normal for me.
The Dims were bleeding hearts over the developer who stole money from banking deals. I was not a bleeding heart. He also looked to be in the mob. Guilty.
I read my notes and swayed them with common sense and we found him guilty and went home.

Three days ago a gunman opened fire outside Venture-N, a Tucson gay bar. Two men dead. The shooter dead. Police now call it a targeted hate crime. He had a list of LGBTQ businesses on him.

Jury selection more or less employs the honor system. If you lie about or conceal bias, there's not much way to root that out. Like most things, when people feel no obligation to be honorable, it breaks down.

D - 49
They're far from the worst pollster. In 2024, their final GCB poll said D+2. Their summer poll (late July) said R+4. Final result was R+2.
In 2022, their final poll said R+6. Their summer poll (early September) said D+2. They also had a late July poll that saw a tie. Final result was R+3.
Noisy, not exact, but reasonably reflective of what would happen...even in their final summer poll last cycle.
Maybe this won't be another D+9 year like 2018? That'd be crazy, though, right?

Have read she had a nanny during all this. For 3.5 days a week the older two were in preschool/daycare. She had it easy based on most of us who could not afford a nanny.
I worked around our boys as a RN with my husband often out of town. We had no family to rely on, & new friends who worked & did not have kids. I was it with no back up to help for anything with the boys. It never occured to me to harm them, no matter how chimpy they got.
The only time I felt clinically depressed for 2 wks in the late '80's. We'd all had the flu then got mycoplasma (which mildly damaged my lungs). Exhausted & this led to depression. Boys 2 and 4yrs old.
I called my mother, brother and then best friend to ask if they could come help and they couldn't. Not once did I consider hurting our boys as I just wanted to sleep. I felt like what I read about having mono with no energy. I cried, which is rare. Then I got better.
Lucky, too, in that their father helped with everything with sons. Canceled trips if they were ill.

That's a pretty high bar. There was a case down in Kentucky of a daughter who murdered her mother. She cut her into pieces (some of which she was cooking in the oven with the family dog). The police arrived (alerted by some hired workers who found pieces of body) and they sent in a robot thingy to look around the house for explosives and stuff. And, the daughter is in side waving her hands at the robot trying to cast a spell on it.
She was found sane enough to stand trial.

There was a story a few years ago where a petite coed confronted a college football player. I think she had been a one night stand or something and didn't like it.
So she got in his face and started yelling. Then punched him which had no effect because, well, she really wasn't very strong.
He in turn punched her once full strength and knocked her to the ground and I think she was in rehab for a few months.
He went to jail.
Some women just do not understand strength differences or won't bother considering it.

Christy, when I was going through a severe bout of depression in the early aughts, spending time with my young son always improved my mood. Sometimes I would go into the room and lie down on the floor next to his crib, and listening to his peaceful breathing while he slept always made me feel better.
Children, in my experience, are the treatment for depression, not the cause of it.

SIDS is absolutely real. They even know (or think they know) what causes it now, but aren't sure why it happens. No way a mother can suffocate her baby and the police not know. That's not how SIDS works.
Sadly, the stigma against moms with kids who died of SIDS has caused a lack of funding and research. So SIDS still causes thousands of infant deaths a year.

So many privileges the rest of us don't have. Went to some of the best doctors in the country for her mental stuff. And her husband paid for the nanny and the doctors, used paternity leave to be with her for the third child, and arranged it with his job that he worked at home.
I told that bit about the working from home to my husband, and he said oh the husband clearly knew she was nutty then, he arranged to work at home to make sure she didn't do anything. I hadn't thought of that. He also told her therapist before the killings she needed more help but they seemed to dismiss it. He's suing the therapist for failing her.
But the husband clearly had done all he could to help. Apparently she had postpartum depression with the first two, and it was hell. But she finally got over it. He probably thought "this too shall pass," until it tragically didn't.

Many SIDS cases were from sleeping with parents/mother in her bed vs murder. Soft mattress, pillows and comforters.
Which is why, I think?, SIDS cases declined since putting babies on their backs in safe cribs without pillows, stuffed animals or quilts. My grands slept in sleep sacks, with arms unrestrained.
The rates of SIDS was reported to have increased by 11% in 2025. Blaming smoking, race, co-sleeping, and poverty (my edit: ignorance and probably drugs).

Former OU running back that ended up ending Bob Stoops carrer was a similar story. I believe that guy is still in the NFL.
He abused his girlfriend and Stoops said they suspended him a year. They didn't. OU red shirted him. He trained with the team, gained muscle and speed. Once people started asking questions, Stoops abruptly announced his retirement to "spend more time with his family."

The American public does not move 10 points in a few weeks in terms of political decisions. The late summer/early autumn movement towards Republicans is fake. At best, it's response bias (progressives like talking to pollsters more than conservatives). It's more than likely cheap polling firms modeling badly and intentionally so.
It might have been true that conservatives paid less attention to politics in like the 70s in a completely different media environment. It's not true now.

My mother told me, during the chimp era of boys, "not to spank when you are mad." I found that quite odd advice based on when are you supposed to spank them? Plus the fact that she never did & told us to wait til our father got home.
I gave one a whack on 2yy baby's diapered bottom once when the he bit the heck out of his older brother who was screaming. The older one messed with the baby til he went loco. Had a full dental impression on his bare shoulder. They were in time out a lot after my glare and talking sense into them.
Didn't know the father worked at home during this time. Wow.
What on earth did mommy do with a nanny? Did the kids interfere with her mani/pedis? Her ladies who lunch dates?
I would not know as I was a full time mother til they hit kindergarten and beyond.

I had no help but my husband til the elder started preschool. Leaving me with the baby, who was perfect in all ways as he learned how not to be from his brother. Put his chair into time out...which was the alarm signal that they'd done something stupid.
I should call them both today and tell them they are lucky to have lived to make it to school with only their Mom taking care of them.
When we moved to FL we had no family and only my dude's work friends. Elderly neighbors who were nice.
I had no nanny, family or close friends to trust with our boys. I need a medal but will settle for grandchildren. And not going to hell for murdering them.
