DHS Announces It Arrested 2,200 Illegal Aliens in NYC In One Month

The Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday announced the results of its "Operation Rotten Apple" which they undertook in New York between late July and late August, with over 2,000 illegal immigrants being apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The operation saw agents arrest 2,197 illegal immigrants across the state. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a press conference Tuesday morning, "We focused on them all across the state of New York. These arrests included gang members, rapists, murderers, and child predators, which I believe there's a special place in hell for those individuals."
Mullin said in a statement, "Operation Rotten Apple did what sanctuary politicians in New York City and the state of New York refuse to do: made the Empire State safer. We won't let sanctuary politicians stand in our way. If you're a state or local politician, your best bet is to cooperate with us so we can all make America safe again." He said that the operation was conducted with "no help" from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani or Governor Kathy Hochul.

Mullin told reporters on Tuesday that the decision to launch the operation was made because Mayor Zohran Mamdani, "instead of working with law enforcement, tried to cut NYPD's budget by $22 million and refuses to work with federal law enforcement. You have a governor that refuses to work with us."
He said that the operation targeted 13,000 illegal immigrants who have been released by "New York sanctuary politicians" that DHS and ICE had placed detainers on. "These are your rapists, your murderers, your child predators, these are gangbangers, these are terrorists."

In case you missed it: A father whose five-year-old daughter is permanently disabled due to an illegal alien wrongly given a CDL tells Democrats to stop telling him they care, because they obviously don't. If they cared, they would act to stop this.

Dalilah, a 5-year-old from California, was in a coma for 3 weeks because an illegal alien driving an 18-wheeler crashed into her family's car.

Sanctuary state California gave the illegal alien a CDL.

Canada increased its immigration heavily starting in 2015.

It's total GDP growth over that period has been 0.5%. Not annually, total.

Immigration didn't fix their issues.

In the 50s, we were averaging something like 4-5% GDP every year, and we had effectively 0 immigration.

The immigration = increased GDP argument is deeply dishonest because it actually refers to very restrained, restrictive immigration policies that do allow in only the best and brightest. It's like people arguing Keynesian economic policy to spend like drunken sailors when not even Keynes argued it.

The vast majority of arrests happen by local cops in these agreements.

ICE has no street presence in places like Texas because of that. They have their offices and officers where they send out people to pick up deportees from jails, but not much else.

State and local politics is extremely important on this issue. Not everything is the federal government.

Investment is the single biggest changeable factor in the modern GDP formula. And the main reason for massive increases in GDP (or the opposite, the so called capitalist strike, the biggest decreaser). That is because the Consumer portion of C+I+G=GDP doesn't change much instantly. Neither does government.

The main factor of GDP growth and decline in the short and long run is investment and investment, versus subsidizing consumers or growing government, is key to making us richer in the future by not consuming wealth in the present.

DHS and ICE have massively increased their effectiveness since Mullin came to office and took the quieter approach instead of the showy approach of Noem. Arrests, deportation flights, asylum rejections (historic highs at roughly 94% now), and TPS removals which have opened up the floodgates on who can be targeted for enforcement proceedings have helped tremendously.

It'll take 1,000 cuts to get this sorted, but those cuts are happening. This mess has been 60 years in the making, and Trump has made tremendous strides in 17 months.

It is not as easy as you say and other than the food processing industry, illegals are in the agricultural harvesting sector as essentially contractors, ditto for trucking, ditto for construction, lawn care, tree service, etc. And they are provided often by a host of shell companies giving plausible deniability to the end user.

Simpson Mazzoli gives a safe harbor for employers that hire illegals if they simply take the id and they cannot question as to whether John Smith is really their name, etc. or risk being sued for racial discrimination. That makes it extremely difficult to charge an employer as you then must indicate intent (not that they were negligent, that they were intentionally hiring illegals).

Yep. Cleaning sewers, septic tanks, dry latrines, and public toilets are all Dalit work. Maids are often not the lowest caste, so they will clean everything but the toilet. They'll hire someone specifically to do just that work.

I'm sure that there are huge outbreaks. If memory serves, they've had huge plagues throughout their history, almost annually. The big death tolls most likely are occurring out in the rural areas (out of sight, out of mind). Besides, it's the lower castes who drop like flies, so who cares?
