Speaking of stolen land, the Supreme Court has rebuked a lower court order to halt Trump's repair and remodeling of the East Wing of the White House.

Specifically, they issued a stay, putting the lawless rogue lower court's injunction against Trump on hold.

On April 17, 2026, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit stayed the district court's injunction, effectively allowing construction to proceed, while it considered the government's appeal. On August 7,
2026, the court of appeals resolved that appeal and upheld the district court's injunction. At the same time, the court indicated that its existing stay would expire on August 21, 2026, and the district court's injunction would thus take effect.
Confronted with an imminent order requiring it to substantially halt its ongoing construction activities, the government filed a motion in this Court seeking a stay of the district court's injunction pending a forthcoming petition for a writ of certiorari and any further proceedings in this Court. THE CHIEF JUSTICE issued an administrative stay to facilitate review of the government's application and referred the matter to the Court.
We grant the requested stay. The government has established that it is likely to succeed on the merits of a significant legal question, that it would likely suffer irreparable harm without a stay, and that the balance of equities tips in its favor.

Essentially this is a full and final reversal -- by the time the full case is decided, the remodeling will be concluded, rendering this lawsuit moot.

Two points: The Supreme Court ruled that the National Trust, which brought the suit, has no standing to sue at all, and Chief Justice Roberts, of course, sided with the liberals, because he is one.

Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed tells his audience to fake their enthusiasm for his stump lines -- he actually tells them to "go nuts" -- so that his Advertising Jihadis can use the crowd's reaction in its political ads to "push back on AIPAC."

This Washington Post article claims that an NORC survey found 400,000 trans people have recently fled to another state.
As @kittypurrzog pointed out on @TheBARPod, the 400K figure was, with some faulty math, extrapolated by Erin Reed based on the NORC survey, which included just 10 trans people who said they'd fled a state. The survey did not provide a representative sample either. So this figure has been all but plucked out of the air and was not actually reached by NORC themselves. It is a figment of Erin Reed's work with a calculator.
This is not to say that trans people are not fleeing red states. But it is extremely unlikely that 400,000 of them have.

Even leftwing media hacks have to admit that X's user-produced community note system of corrections works. And I'd add it works 10,000% better than media hacks' tendentious, political-ax-grinding "corrections."

They really do have a legitimate national security interest in fuel availability for all their military assets in the area, and in particular the supply for a hypothetical war with a country that rhymes with China.

70 I know it's unimaginably past the comprehension or ability of the GOP (usually) to actually make a point/educate/change the landscape in their statements or ads, but how about explaining that gas prices were even worse under the Dems for no good reason. And explain the reasons. Then explain current all-time maximum domestic production, and that current prices are temporary and will resume their downward trend once a vile nutso generational foreign adversary is defeated.

Of course that last part would be beyond the understanding of almost all voters including robot GOP types, as well as most of the commentariat, but include it just for fun.

I worry about our society and the addiction to the dopamine hits from our phones. I've started paying attention to social gatherings I've recently attended. 6 of us gather to have a meal and watch the horse races from the comfort of an air-conditioned restaurant, and at any given time 2-4 of the people there are scrolling their phones. A work team meeting with a *legitimate* big hitter from our industry, and at any given time 6-8 of the 12 people in the room are scrolling their phones.

There's "Next Generation" episode where Ryker gets introduced to a tech-game while on leave and brings it back to the ship...where it spreads like wildfire and soon the entire crew is addicted to the game and only the game and no longer maintaining the Enterprise or the mission. By the time I had to move down there, it was completely different than when I was in college or starting my career... very, very hard to meet people my own age. Wherever you go, it's just older people hanging out, going to bars, events, etc.

The strange way our society has developed, you now have to go to small towns and rural areas if you want anything we used to recognize as a normal social life, and it's been a very rapid change.

My understanding is that the steers are done in at about a year and a half, and the cows are kept for at least a couple of years to have calves before they are slaughtered.

Using Hereford cows, 3 years works for a grass fed self-sustaining herd size. For grass-fed Angus, the other rancher culls at 18 months for some, but likes 3 years for the extra weight.

I would argue, on the basis of reading some highly intelligent ancient writings, that many, if not most citizens of ancient civilizations had a much greater consciousness than we do today.

Roberts is the dumbest person on the Supreme Court. Ok, you want to make an empire out of the Court system for your own power. Yet every decision he makes is sure to bring his SC into disrepute by allowing every random judge to play to the press instead of him, I can't recall any decisions he has given a written opinion on to wow history, he votes left or right by flipping a coin along with his clique.

Jean Piaget spoke about the levels of human child development, and the earliest stages, pre-terrible 2s, the child does not have this understanding. As they get older, it becomes important, but it is also inevitable in proper development. I never considered it in other primates, I figured it was also innate like having a thumb.

Chicken legs here are about $1.99 a pound or less at times. I hate cooking them every week.

I still have tons of Whey powder and 600 cans of sardines and sardine fillets from the supply shock times. I'm fine with that. And my sardine portfolio is up about 100%

A knife-wielding woman was shot and killed by police officers in New York City on Monday after she allegedly went on a stabbing spree in the heart of Times Square, killing one.

The unidentified woman had stabbed a woman and a man just before 4.30pm at the intersection of West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue in Manhattan's busy downtown, sources told the New York Post.

She then fled north toward the New York Police Department substation, where police confronted her.

When the suspect - dressed in a pink T-shirt, jeans, and a cross-body bag - then charged at cops, several officers drew their guns and shot the woman multiple times, causing her to fall to the ground.
