Salty, while there are legitimate concerns about the rapid expansion of both AI and data centers, much of it is ridiculous hype being pushed by our adversaries, most notably China.
Whether we like it or not, AI is coming and it will affect virtually all walks of life including national security. China is not slowing down on their development which largely means stealing from us and doing whatever they can to disrupt our own development of AI.
We need adult conversations about governance and restrictions on AI just like all technology but the overheated claims that AI is inherently evil is just dumb.

Deb Haaland, candidate for gov in NM, will probably win. She's big on free stuff and a Dem. Also Indian (feather). One problem she might have is with the Navajo Nation. They've been on a tear trying to steal every LLM model out there. Of course they want the US to quit the race for AI and datacenters to leverage it.

Love that Cheers clip about Kale. I’ve grown kale, but only as an ornamental in the winter. Some varieties have a nice purple color and are quite cold resistant. I wouldn’t eat it, though. Tried it a couple times - kind of like bitter construction paper.

I spotted the danger of Facebook close to the beginning when people still thought it was a good way to talk to grandma. Probably posted about it here.
The clue to me was two things: the blue color they chose for it and the fact that you couldn't change your layout like MySpace or anything before it.

It's hard to say how effective the attacks on the USAID apparatus have been, and I generally tend to be less sanguine than others about these things - these are yuuuge, luxurious edifices of corruption and they're hard to besiege with any degree of success.

Celebrity deaths don’t affect me… there was one exception for me: Walter Payton was a childhood hero. When he died relatively young I had some tears. He had seemed like an indestructible Superman on the football field and he died IIRC in his 40s. Of course I was still youngish when he died so had little conception of my own mortality, so it jolted me. I don’t think it would affect me as much today…

Doc spoke with her yesterday and mention she couldn't believe it's actually moved as far as it has considering the size.
She's waiting for a call from a specialist to get in and discuss options.
She's not in pain currently, but is also not taking the new script to assist in passing it as due to it's size, she doesn't want to cause a clog somewhere requiring emergency action.

Good point. When you fly in and out of NJ from Newark airport or only drive up the turnpike , it gives a warped view of what NJ is like . I attended two 4H fairs in two different counties . Both had farm animals and both have farms
