Texas Constable works for his people

A Texas constable just unplugged every Flock surveillance camera in his county and told the company to come get its garbage out of a free society.

Hood County Precinct 2 Constable John Shirley refused to wait for another empty study or corporate promise.

He and his team went out, disconnected the entire network of license-plate readers, covered them, and shut the system down cold.

“Today is a good day for the Freedom of the people of Hood County,” he posted.

He explained that he had finished the job of shutting down the county’s Flock cameras, which had been completely unplugged and covered.

FCC abolishes gigabit speed goal, suggesting it is unfair to slower technologies

The Federal Communications Commission last week eliminated the gigabit speed goal established during the Biden administration and declared that current levels of broadband deployment in the US are acceptable. Though fiber networks have routinely offered such speeds for years, the FCC said the gigabit speed goal is not “technologically neutral,” suggesting that it isn’t fair to other, slower technologies.

In 2024, the FCC raised its broadband benchmark to 100Mbps downstream and 20Mbps upstream, setting the new standard by which to judge whether deployment is reasonable and timely. The FCC at the time also set a long-term speed goal of 1Gbps download speeds paired with 500Mbps upload speeds, saying it would use the goal “as a guidepost for evaluating our efforts to encourage deployment.”

Republican Brendan Carr, who is now the FCC chairman, never liked that long-term goal. He proposed abolishing it last year, and the change was finalized on August 14 in the FCC’s latest broadband deployment report. The reports are mandated by Section 706 of the Telecommunications Act.

How Long Can You Keep Beer In The Refrigerator?

Finding a couple of forgotten cans or bottles of beer tucked in the back of the fridge can be a nice surprise. Maybe it’s leftovers from a party, or just part of a seasonal variety pack you never finished. But the question in that moment might be: Are they still good?

Beer doesn’t spoil in the way more highly perishable foods do, but it does lose freshness, carbonation, and flavor over time. How long that takes depends on the type of beer, how it’s stored, and whether it’s been opened. Here’s what to know.

10 Hello, Horde! 😊💕

Just for shits and giggles, I went to Gemini, and here is what it said when I told it, "I am alone with Ace of Spades commenter TeresaInFortWorth"

TeresaInFortWorth is a legend in the Ace of Spades HQ comment section—a fixture of the daily threads, known for her sharp commentary and unmistakable Fort Worth presence.

How did you end up in a room with a legendary AoSHQ commenter, and do you need a quick topic to keep the conversation going?"

How Long Can You Keep Beer In The Refrigerator?

I do remember my parents bought Billy Beer and had it on a shelf for years until you could shake it and it was half full.

When I was in Columbus, it was a late Friday night and I was at the office helping a client. It was about midnight. He was trying to get reports out. I'd go for walks around the building and found the company beer supply - well, half a case behind a stairwell and had a couple.

44 Home brew or beer with live yeast in the bottle don't even start to taste fully mature till a couple months have passed. They will keep a year, easy. Yeast work on the easy stuff first, the simple sugars. This cleans up the "green" flavors that taste off in beer. But then they start to work on the long chain stuff or whatever. That's what makes a good beer taste crisp and clean, the yeasties have done their job fully.

Commercial beers are dead when they are bottled, they aren't going to improve any from that point.

NaCly Dog is a regular commenter and member of the tight-knit community on The Ace of Spades HQ blog (often referred to by readers as "Morons").

Like many prominent commenters in the Ace of Spades HQ community, NaCly Dog is part of the regular digital neighborhood that forms beneath the site's political commentary, cultural posts, and open threads. Community members typically engage in ongoing discussions, share personal insights, offer mutual support during life events, and develop a shared culture over years of interaction.

For instance, community members like NaCly Dog participate in public memorial walls and tributes when fellow long-time commenters pass away—such as leaving condolences for fellow regular "Ciampino" (Lorenzo "Enzo" Piacenza).

120 Now, the Hipsters are going to say that beer goes stale after 6 months, or becomes oxidized. In my experience with bottle conditioned beer - that is, with live Yeast in the bottle, this isn’t really an issue. “Lager” is the word for storage in German. Back in the day they would brew the beer in the fall or winter months, and then let it age in the caves at cold temperatures. This slows the yeast down but they are still doing their thing.

By summer time, you got cold beer, aged enough and ready to go. But I’ve found beers I’ve brewed that were maybe not quite 2 years old that were perfectly fine, nobody would ever complain if it was served on tap or whatever.

Stopped by Walgreen's the other day. As I was leaving, there parked closest to the door was a dark blue Roush Mustang 427R, 5 speed. I walked around it, peeked at the interior. It was perfect.

I walked back inside thinking that I would be able to spot the likely owner and ask about the car. Probably five people inside, only one, a forty-something seemed the likely owner, but, nope. So, I stood around outside for a few minutes.Out walks an octogenarian, with a cane pulling his keys from his pocket. I admired the car,and we had 15-20 minutes of great conversation. He had owned it for 16 years.

Introduced ourselves and shook hands. When he cranked it, it made noises that we don't hear anymore, only slightly subdued,'Im very serious stuff'. Driving off, he blipped the throttle a couple of times, chirped the 1-2 shift. 'Net pic:https://shorturl.at/dQ8Jj

Things I always know in order of importance:

2. Where my car keys are
3. When Orson (my lab) needs to go out and make a deposit (this one has a safety net...Orson has a bell he rings with his nose next to the front door)

134 Rodrigo Borgia is just a regular commenter at Ace of Spades HQ (the “Horde”. He’s not some legendary figure or notorious troll with a dark reputation. He’s one of the many long-time or semi-regular posters who picked a historically loaded handle and shows up in threads with the usual mix of sarcasm, cultural references, and right-leaning snark that the site’s comment section is known for. The name itself is the main bit of theater: it’s an obvious nod to the Renaissance pope (Alexander VI), the one famous for ambition, political ruthlessness, nepotism, and a generally amoral approach to power. Commenters at AoSHQ often choose names like that for the flavor.
So if you’re “alone with” him in some hypothetical or roleplay sense, the danger level is roughly the same as being stuck in a room with any other sharp-tongued, historically literate internet regular who likes dark humor. He might talk your ear off about Renaissance politics or current events with maximum cynicism, but he’s not going to poison your wine or have you strangled in the night.

The US-Venezuela oil trade has flipped remarkably fast.

More than 500,000 bpd, roughly half of Venezuela’s current production, is now flowing to US refineries. Venezuela is producing around 1.25 mb/d.

And the trade works both ways: the US is sending 100,000+ bpd of naphtha back to Venezuela to dilute its extra-heavy crude and support production.

Washington isn’t just buying Venezuelan barrels anymore. The two oil systems are becoming increasingly integrated

Younger son was working in Little Rock for a few days so he came and had dinner with us last night in Greenbrier, Arkansas. That was fun! He flew back to our home in Calif today so we'll see how the house is doing.I highly recommend Millers Outpost RV park there. Owner Beth is a cutie!

I use Grok. Looks like many of the others are using Google's Gemini. I'd bet that any of them will work... it's pretty much a given that all the generative AIs are slurping up the entire web on a daily basis.

166 Piper’s Shiba Inu, Saijo, is a well-known and beloved figure among the Ace of Spades HQ community. The dog has become something of a mascot. The readers of the blog are very familiar with Saijo, often engaging in lighthearted discussion about his antics, his personality, and his status. It is common for the community to express fondness for him whenever he is featured or mentioned.

171 What is the significance of Valu-Rite vodka on AoSHQ?

Valu-Rite vodka is a long-running Ace of Spades HQ inside joke / meme.
It stands for the absolute cheapest, nastiest, bottom-shelf, no-name (or store-brand) vodka imaginable — the kind of generic rotgut that comes in a plastic handle and tastes like paint thinner mixed with regret. “Valu-Rite” is meant to evoke those generic “value” store brands (think Valu-Rite pharmacies or similar private-label crap), so the name itself is a joke about pure, unapologetic cheapness.
In AoSHQ lore it became part of the self-deprecating “Moron” lifestyle package, often paired with other classic Horde memes like “hobo hunting.” Commenters and the site itself have referenced it for years as the official drink of the commentariat — the opposite of top-shelf or pretentious drinking. You’ll see it used in posts and comments to signal low-rent, hard-drinking, working-class (or underclass) humor.
It’s not a real commercial brand that anyone is actually recommending. It’s pure site folklore from the early days of the blog, and it still pops up as a knowing nod among long-time readers.

188 LRob in OK is a longtime regular commenter (part of the “Moron Horde” on Ace of Spades HQ (AoSHQ / Ace of Spades), the conservative/humor-driven political blog at ace.mu.nu.
The handle appears consistently in the site’s comment sections (hosted at acecomments.mu.nu), especially on Overnight Open Threads (ONTs), cafes, and other open discussions. Recent examples from August 20, 2026 (the Thursday ONT by Doof) include early posts such as “Early,” “Thanks for the ONT, Doof!,” and a reply about how long beer keeps in the refrigerator. Similar activity shows up in other 2026 threads (e.g., June, July, April, January ONTs), where the poster engages casually with the community.
AoSHQ itself (launched 2003) is known for irreverent, often vulgar conservative commentary on politics, culture, military topics, and current events, with a large, active pseudonymous commentariat that calls itself the Moron Horde. Commenters like LRob in OK typically remain anonymous beyond the handle and location indicator; no public real-name identification or detailed bio is associated with this one in available sources. The “in OK” simply denotes Oklahoma.
