FBI Seizes Electronic Devices from Eric Swalwell's Home, As Part of Investigation Into Alleged Sexual Assaults

This guy.

And if it just so happens they discover information about his choice to accept sketchy donations from Chinese government agents, that's how it goes.

Bill Melugin
@BillMelugin_

BREAKING: Per sources familiar to me & colleague @davidspunt, as part of an ongoing federal probe, the FBI seized former Congressman Eric Swalwell's electronics at his home in DC on Sunday. Nobody was home.

We are also told the FBI seized his electronics from him at San Francisco airport (SFO) on Saturday.

Swalwell was not detained or placed under arrest.

We are told this probe is in relation to the sexual misconduct allegations against Swalwell.

FBI is not commenting.

@FoxNews has reached out to Swalwell's attorney for comment.

CNN adds a little background.

Swalwell resigned from Congress in April after reporting from CNN and the San Francisco Chronicle detailed allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department opened criminal investigations into Swalwell in the wake of the reporting. The raids this weekend are part of a federal investigation connected to the claims of sexual assault, the sources told CNN.

Three women who have spoken publicly about sexual misconduct allegations against Swalwell also told CNN they spoke with the FBI.

This story was updated to reflect that three women say they have been contacted by the FBI.

Boy lawfare was sure fun.... until it wasn't, huh?

I hope they also turn up information about Rep. Gomez and Reuben Gallego, Swalwell's fellow "Cool Club Clique" adulterers and assaulters.

22 And, just so we don't forget:

The Washington Post Fact Checker awarded "Four Pinocchios" to then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in 2023 for making unsubstantiated claims and suggesting Eric Swalwell engaged in inappropriate behavior with a suspected Chinese intelligence operative (Christine Fang), noting that Swalwell had cooperated with authorities and cut off contact.

The Washington Post found no evidence of illegal activity or sexual/improper impropriety by Swalwell, reporting that U.S. officials indicated Swalwell cut ties as soon as the FBI provided a defensive briefing.

Polymarket and other idiotic predictive markets are thinly traded and easy to put a whopping big informal donation by betting on something. It has been proven to be so in the past. They are as fake and gay as a second order derivative can be--first is actual votes, the first derivative is some flawed poll, and the prediction market is a second derivative with people using polling to place a bet at best, or intentional warping of the market at worst by placing a losing bet on purpose to try to make fetch happen.

Predictive markets are bullshit and based on the idiocy of crowds, not smart money.

Refusing to seat people was unconstitutional and it came about from the Reconstruction era where the House purposefully refused to accept the seating of elected officials from the South. Powell v. McCormick put an end to the practice.

The proper constitutional remedy is expulsion but as that requires 2/3rds of the House, was much harder to do. Again, the Founders had a blind spot regarding political parties as none of them professed liking of them based on their experiences with England (the pro king (Tories) versus the pro people parties (Whigs).

Both the House and Senate though have the constitutional power to determine contested elections by a majority vote.

Article I, Section 5

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members. . . .

Not justiciable. Last time the House overrode a state was in the 1980's over an Indiana seat. Democrats stole it.

Section Five also has this,

"Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."

Again, like impeachment, held to be non justiciable in the federal courts (goes to political question doctrine).

Goes to mitigation of sentence not to an actual defense. Unless you claim insanity then she has to prove that--in most states, using the M'Naughton standard.

Kansas replaced that with a better version--guilty but mentally ill--sentence is served in a mental facility but not where the guilty can be treated briefly, 'cured', and then released as they do in Charlotte NC.

M'Naughton, who shot a bureaucrat was held not to be responsible for murder, but he spent the rest of his days in a mental asylum until he died.

Even mentally ill murderers should never walk the streets again as a free person, it should only be where they are incarcerated that should be at issue.

As mentioned above, if you are not talking to your agent or his/her office, you're talking to the wrong people. The last thing your agent wants is for your policy to be cancelled and will likely move heaven and earth to stop that from happening - which would also cause reputational damage to the agency.

Ask any Hispanic what their opinion on "transgenders" happens to be. Ask any Hispanic here legally and able to vote what their opinion on "illegal immigration" happens to be. I assure you that the vast majority don't line up with Talarico. Those are not fence sitting questions for Hispanics.

Additonally, Polymarket does their political predictions based on crowdsourcing. It's a crypto exchange (which right there limits the demographics of those participating). And, those wagers are largely based on bogus polls.

Holy fvck. People who want to get a loved one involuntarily committed HOPE for that kind of evidence. It's perverse, but a threat of harm to oneself or others is often the only way you can get someone who's clearly off their rocker committed.

And there it was, and... who dropped the ball? Circular finger-pointing squad coming up, I guess.

It's really REALLY hard to commit an adult who hasn't acted out in a violent way already. I've shared this before, but when I was in college, a guy briefly crashed at my apartment for a while. He was a friend of the family of the condo owner, whose son lived in the apartment.

Shortly after he left, he killed his mother and sister's best friend with a kitchen knife. They found him naked, covered in blood, wrapped in an American flag. He had a schizophrenic break. His parents had been trying for years to get him committed.

176 Of course they do. And Polymarket is not a poll, it's more of what people are exhibiting here, feeeeelings. But it is interesting where feelings are at this point in time.
Posted by: runner

The original prediction markets did not permit large bets. I think the first was in Iowa and allowed only a nominal dollar bet. The newer ones are there to make money and generate hype--the larger the number of bets, the bigger the rakeoff. And so the limit on large bets is no longer there.

And the consequences of this shit are already apparent. A soldier involved in the Maduro operation placed a large bet on it using his insider info and made bank. Now facing military charges.

One of the White House tech staff, a guy that ran Trump's teleprompter, also placed a bet on the contents of the upcoming speech, and again, is under criminal investigation.

It is bad enough with the financial markets, the current bet on anything market means that it will be ridden with criminal intentions including trying to sway elections with it. We as a nation are better off without them.

179 Well, they released a poll, so I naturally equated them to pollsters. Which have been absolute dogshit, especially as of late, and one has admitted to being fake and gay this week.

Lets assume one is trying to do honest polling. Or even honest predicting. And I don't think such honesty exists in the field, not even by those who used to blog on it here for a bit, but lets pretend.

I can understand how you could "follow the math", at least as reported, and build in a certain number of points just based on the vote-rigging that always happens in blue cities. The over 100% turnout that predictably went on.

How do you sit there, with a straight face, and try to defend any such model developed over time - given the floodgates that were opened in 2020 ? Or try to project how the last couple years of real, tangible voter roll reform will play out ?

Makes as much sense to me as those still insisting on putting out Pre-Season College Football rankings. When every roster in the country has 1/3 to 1/2 turnover now.

TLDR - they're all bullshitting

I think this is the natural end state of a crowd that's been indoctrinated since birth that abortion is necessary, correct, and good. They've been told their entire life that a woman's feelings about her developing child determines if it's human or not.

Clancy's feelings told her to kill her children, and they celebrate her.

On trials, I stay out of commenting on them until complete and sentencing begins. A lot of it depends on exactly what the jury is allowed to see and hear and whether the attorneys involved did a decent job on jury selection.

There are two types of defense attorneys--ones that aim to get you the best plea deal you can get and ones that fight the charges from start to finish but risk the client getting a trial penalty of a harsher sentence if they lose. Each will have a different strategy both legal and media. And the prosecutors have their own story to tell as well.

The plea bargain attorneys or the ones trying to save their client's life because the prosecutors can't or won't deal, will ramp up the sympathy instead of challenging the case. A defense attorney aiming to fight the charges usually goes to the Toddi or Soddi defenses in a serious crime.
