The Morning Report — 8/ 20 /26

DonnyKnows.jpg

Good morning kids. Let's dive right in, first with someone who is one of the real voices of sanity in the world today, Melanie Phillips.

Over next month’s Labor Day weekend, Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed is to speak at a conference that will platform a rogue’s gallery of Islamic extremists.

The conference in Detroit is the 63rd annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America, a Muslim Brotherhood affiliate that was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007-28 Holy Land terrorism-funding trial.

Other speakers among a plethora of Islamists include Siraj Wahhaj, a former ISNA vice-president who was himself an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Wahhaj, who has called for the full application of sharia law including amputation, stoning and the execution of gay people, makes no secret of his aim to Islamize America.

He has said: “You don’t get involved in politics because it’s the American thing to do. You get involved in politics because politics are a weapon to use in the cause of Islam.”

Another scheduled convention participant, Zaid Shakir, has said: “If only Muslims were clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate. If we put a nationwide infrastructure in place and marshaled our resources, we’d take over this country in a very short time.”

. . . Two decades ago, in 2006, I published my best-selling and pioneering book “Londonistan,” which described how the British establishment — politicians, government officials, even security and counter-intelligence officers — were submitting to the steady Islamization of Britain. . . In particular, they refused to acknowledge the threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood’s strategy of mass immigration and of using the democratic process to infiltrate extremists into political positions. They failed to take seriously the jihadi strategy of demonstrating power to gain power.

. . . Several states are trying to ban or restrict Sharia law. In Texas, state leaders are opening investigations into Muslim institutions and attempting to block the development of huge Muslim enclaves. But much more needs to be done.

Britain offers the starkest possible warning of the frog being slowly boiled in the Islamist pot. Time is ticking.

Wake up, America.

Well, what's Green and Red and is for sure not Christmas?!

Here's that Red part coming at you!

Florida’s Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) Senate candidate Angie Nixon has a history of making outlandish statements throughout her political career, including praising a Marxist cop killer while campaigning in a church, calling for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies to be put back in place, and admitting to taking her children to drag shows, referring to them as “wholesome” entertainment.

This freakazoid is not a one-off. This is boilerplate tame stuff from the heart of the heart of darkness that was, is and always has been the Democrat Party.

They will embrace any madness at all if they perceive it will help them gain and maintain anything that gets them to their goal of absolute and permanent power.

Several Democratic Socialists of America-backed congressional nominees are traveling to Uruguay this week to join a left-wing international conference aimed at opposing President Donald Trump’s foreign policy in the Western Hemisphere.

New York Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, New York activist Darializa Avila Chevalier, and Pennsylvania state Rep. Chris Rabb — all three DSA members who won Democratic congressional primaries this year — will attend the Pan-American Congress in Montevideo as “special guests” of a congressional delegation led by Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Jesús “Chuy” García (D-IL). New Jersey Democratic congressional candidate Adam Hamawy, who is not a DSA member but has embraced many of the same left-wing causes, is also attending.

And so, Red and Green unite... at least until we get to the next big Olympic sporting event, the homosexual roof toss!

It is amazing how the leftists all over the Western world have managed to overlook Islamic teachings on homosexuality. They paid little attention to the homosexuals who are killed and hung on cranes in the middle of Iranian cities. They did not notice how ISIS, both in Syria and In Iraq, routinely threw homosexuals off the top of rooftops. They ignored how homosexuals in the Palestinian territories in Gaza and the West Bank are subject to severe societal discrimination, harassment, arbitrary arrests, and physical abuse or torture by local security forces and militant factions, including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

And meanwhile back over there in Latin America...

Iranian state media revealed on Tuesday, using it as an opportunity to promote Iran’s war against the United States and demand diplomatic and economic support... In addition to marking 100 years since his birth, 2026 will soon mark the first decade since Fidel Castro’s long-anticipated death in November 2016.

The timing is perfect with all of this, because Iran perhaps if not on the ropes is in serious shape to the point where maybe President Trump's bluster might actually be accurate insofar as the regime could be at long last facing a real existential crisis. We shall see.

Trump likened the operation to “an ECONOMIC D-DAY” that will require “our Allies to stand with the United States of America to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat.”

Well then, the question is... Why was this not done weeks ago if not on day One when the first bombs fell? perhaps the war might've been over on Day Two, or what am I missing. Oh well.

For sure the reason the Left is going nuts in Latin America is because all of the socialist Communist regimes are tumbling down like so many dominoes... and now at long last perhaps the worst of the worst might be finally set to take a fall, CUBA?!

How glorious would it be should that tropical Commie gulag finally taste freedom after 66 long horrible years? Leftist heads everywhere would explode! No wonder all the DSAniks have gone down to boost the Latin American commies! And the final Commie domino could very well be our very own homegrown commies, right here on our own soil!

While it's possible that Karmelo Anthony will be the first ever successful appeal against that judge, I suspect that his removal is just a means to shut everyone up a little bit. They've still got to find something about which he ruled incorrectly and all they're going with is "he enforced the court rules more than we wanted him to".

Sorta. I think part of vision Abraham Accords. And other Gulf nations wanted the nukes gone, not chaos in the straight.

Heck, UAE had 500 bombs and couple thousand drones shot at it and finally yesterday said we've had enough. That says a lot in terms of the internal dynamics of the region.

Add in the background of Israel actions and it's even more murky.

OTOH, did Sinwar really fuk up or what? They map and the dynamics in three years basically bear no resemblance to each other. And thats a good thing.

Folks need to chill a bit. Anthony's lawyers are requesting a new trial - as is probably normal. The original trial judge stated, following the trial, that "the jury got it right", which is what we assume in our system but another judge ruled that this could provide the appearance of bias so the trial judge was removed - I'm also seeing the word recused used so he may have stepped aside himself - and a senior judge has been assigned to rule over the motion for a new trial.

That's all that's happened.

One may as well ask why we didn't land in France in 1942 and save a bunch of time?

Because military/economic operations have to happen sequentially. You can't just skip to the good part.

One thing that really bugs me is how otherwise sensible commentators on the Smart Military Blog think that there is some sort of "easy button" for military operations and the failure to push it is because the people in charge are stupid or something.

Anyone who has studied the Gulf situation in depth is absolutely AMAZED at how well we are doing. Casualties are basically on the level of high-tempo training accidents, and instead of $200/bbl oil and world-wide recession, it's basically Biden in 2023. Manufacturing continues to expand, domestic oil production is climbing and all the treasonous media can do is print anonymous claims that we're out of munitions and parrot Iranian propaganda.

Oh, and Iran is winning because total economic collapse and losing 50 years worth of military hardware is a victory.

They ignored how homosexuals in the Palestinian territories in Gaza and the West Bank are subject to severe societal discrimination, harassment, arbitrary arrests, and physical abuse or torture by local security forces and militant factions, including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The vibe I'm getting now is less "Spanish Civil War 2.0" and more "Asturias Uprising 2.0." Those of you who have already read Long Live Death know that before the July Rising when the center-right governed Spain, there were several Anarchist uprisings, the worst of which was in the Asturias and had to be put down with regular army forces.

If the GOP holds its ground (or gains it - looking at you, Michigan), I expect there will be violence on the part of the left. The "vials of wrath" have been filled to overflowing, but without USAID and other funds, it's going to be less organized and less effective.

Also: Trump's people are running traces on the finances of these organizations and RICO charges may be coming before that. Remember that timing is everything, and you don't drop the good stuff until after Labor Day.

The FBI 'fednapping' broke long-standing policy as well as several laws. Turnabout is fair play.

It’s almost amusing that the defense’s claim of “bias” came because after it was over, the Judge said publicly “I think the jury got it right”

I would only have been worried if he’d said that he thought the jury got it wrong, but it’s a reminder that officials in high profile cases should never, ever make any public statements at all.

The IRGC is analogous to our CIA or FBI. Sort of. Killing off either of those, for a nation like Russia or China, without nuking every city in the US would be nearly impossible without soldiers on the ground going from city to city, town to town, etc.

IRGC members put on their green jumpsuits, grab an AK and play warrior, then put their civies on and stroll through town. Only the locals know who's who.

I’m so relieved to hear that your wife’s recovery is going well. A great blessing for all of you.

I’m very supportive of the strategy we’ve finally settled into against Iran, because for the US, it’s a low cost, low risk strategy that can be easily maintained for an indefinite period of time. We’re not taking any casualties, and we’re not even expending many bombs anymore. Enough oil is getting out so that world prices aren’t spiking, and it’s the Iranians who are under pressure to try to counter this.

Given their psychology they’ll almost certainly find some way to lash out in anger, but that’ll be more for emotional reasons than military ones.

Yes, he upset the normal orderly succession system to become Mao 2.0 and like the original, he's running the country into the ground. At some point, I would expect a military coup, and he obviously does because he's purging the officer corps at a very aggressive clip.

The problem is that at some point people figure that they may as well take a chance, because their number will come up no matter what they do.

Official immunity needs rolled way, way back.
And end the militarization, auto-weapon, tactical vehicles, etc.--no police dept. needs any gun stronger than a pistol and a shotgun.
If the threat is greater, they can request the national guard, deputize locals or call up militia--no more of this "civilian/police" split.
Police are part of the community, not a special position above it.

218 A retired County Durham, England, police officer is appealing a conviction and £1,000 (~$1,350) fine after being prosecuted for a social media post that a judge ruled was “grossly offensive.” Stephen Gray, 65, was initially investigated after a neighbor reported two Facebook posts.

Gray was acquitted over the first post, which combined a call for “mass deportation” with a satirical claim about a migrant seeking accommodation with better amenities and a halal menu. The second post, which joked, “Fun facts about Bacon! People who eat bacon have a lower chance of marrying a 9-year-old!” led to his conviction

Trum's "mistake" if you want to call it that was to run a "kind war".

He clearly wanted Iran to surrender and agree to his terms after decapitating the gov't, but was not interested in widespread destruction of infrastructure and massive death.

Trump wanted an Iran to emerge as as player in the world-economy just without nukes and terrorism.

An Iran led by rational leaders would've seen this as a benefit to them (even if they meant to violate it in the future after Trump left office) and made the Deal.

Buuuut, he underestimated the fanaticism of islamic leaders, who would rather destroy their country than let the Great Satan win.

So, now it's the slow economic grind.

We'll see.

It was no mistake. His opening was epic, shattering Iran's formidable air defenses and terrifying both the Russians and the Chicoms. After a flurry of bombardment and decapitating the leadership, we needed to slow down the operational tempo to something more sustainable. So we declared a unilateral cease fire, which flipped the script.

Iran came back swinging, and now we were acting in self-defense. It was a hugely smart opening play.

If I told you a year ago that Trump would do what he has done - shatter Iran's terrorist proxies, destroy almost all their missiles, sink their navy, obliterate their air force and air defenses AND do it without a global Muslim backlash - you would say I was delusional.

Especially if I said we'd take less losses than an Army post on a holiday weekend. Those of us old enough to remember Desert Storm - which was hailed as an epic curb-stomping - can only shake our heads in disbelief.

The end game of the current strategy is not Regime change or the end of the IRGC, although that would be nice. It is to degrade Iran’s civil economy until the entire nation becomes ungovernable by anyone, and Iran becomes completely toothless and torn by internal conflict, a threat to no one outside their borders.

There’s a comparison that can be made with Cuba right now. The biggest reason that there’s no pressure to do anything quickly with Cuba is that it’s already dead, internally. There is no Cuban economy left, and although the Party still rules, all that they rule is a collection of the old, the sick, and the mentally ill huddled in decaying ruins and mud huts. If some force tried to invade, the Cuban military would have to come up with a bunch of bicycles to get troops to the front lines.

What I can't find is, how is this not a suit between states with original jurisdiction in the Supreme Court?

There was a hint in one of the articles, that Abbott said, "I'm not even going to respond."

Too bad Abbott couldn't arrange to have an illegal alien "hitter" go pay Ellison a visit—that would place Minnisomalia in a spiritual crisis.

282 The data center phenomenon has opened up a whole new can of disinformation.

The best is that all resistance to these data centers come from the CCP. While I'm sure that is in the mix, that is to classify those against/resistant to data centers as monolithic, like some much of politics when we know it is more complicated.

I live not too far from the Limerick Nuclear Power Station, outside Philadelphia. When the plant was built back in the late 70's and early 80's, one of the biggest problems was water to run the cooling towers. The problem was believe to be big enough that they made provisions to send water from the Delaware River down to the Schuylkill River which adjoins the power station. Also, the latest PJM grid power auction came up short on power, so exactly where are the proposed 6 different data centers within 15 miles of Limerick going to get their power.

Ultimately, we all know that power and water rates will go up, and we all know who is going to pay. The stories of Luddites and CCP plots are mostly a distraction from the bigger reality.

I've always been fascinated by the idea that people are incapable of learning from their mistakes.

Vance opposed Trump, and after witnessing Trump 45 for himself, changed his position so much as to be selected as Trump 47's VP.

Rubio, however, isn't permitted to do that, despite kicking the entire world's shit in over the unequivocal importance of US sovereignty.

I sincerely hope people don't insist on punishing me for the things I was wrong about fifteen years ago.

311 The remarkable thing about Trump's cabinet has been its overall unity. There have been a few misfires, (Noem) but on the whole, they really are working as a team.

I see that continuing, so talk about Vance vs Rubio is very premature. I think they sincerely love this country and know how dangerous it is to let the left regain power and they are going to work out a ticket in advance. Rubio has a lot on his plate, and may not want to sit in the big chair. Maybe he wants to be governor of Florida, or Viceroy of Cuba?

The weird thing is, just about every critique being thrown at Vance applies to Rubio. Both guys have changed their stripes, both are Catholic and support Catholic social teaching. Rubio actually seems worse in that respect because Vance was never full-on GOPe, he was always an insurgent.

Anyway, there are more pressing issues to think about as far as I'm concerned.

In Texas law, Jury decisions are the most highly protected rulings. To overturn one, a challenger has to show a Clear and Relevant Error of Law in the original trial. Having followed the case closely. I don’t see one.

Critics say Karmelo wasn’t allowed to testify at the first trial. Yeah, but that was his own attorneys decision, not the judge’s. You don’t get do-overs just because you screwed up your own strategy.

The virtue of this arrangement is that we now have a "kill switch" on China's economy placed well beyond their reach.

The Chicoms figured Iran would tie us up, freeing them to go after Taiwan, but it worked the other way 'round.

As Iran fades, we can move the carriers to the Pacific and let our allies keep up the pressure.

Don't forget: Saudi Arabia has a mutual defense treaty with Pakistan (who owes them a lot of money) and after the initial missile volleys, Iran activated it. Pakistan is well placed to wreck Iran.

Whenever possible Trump likes to set up win-win situations for himself. So it's very likely the possibility of no surrender was accounted for and there is a path to a different sort of victory if they don't. Does it mean it's better than surrender? Maybe, maybe not.

As you and I know any surrender is phony anyway and it just means they're regrouping. By doing it this way it means the destruction can be more fully consuming. Trump could not have leveraged the destruction so far in one or two days without serious repercussions.

However by forcing a daily or weekly choice they won't make, we keep on destroying, and the PR side of it is a little more taken care of.

Remember it's two wars, the war against Iran and the war against the media here at home. He has to win or at least tie on both front at once.

There used to be a store in Islamorada, on the way south to Key West, that was a combined hair place for the ladies, a gun store, and sold liquor in a drive through in the rear. It wasn't even that big a place. No idea if it's still there, since Islamorada is so fancy now.

Pet peeve (yeah, I have several!)

Not sure when / why the word "pair" entered vernacular to mean "goes well with" or "complements". A pair is 2 items with a similar identifiable characteristic. Such as a pair of shoes or a pair of aces in card games. Somehow in discussing food and fashion, "pair" has taken on a different meaning.

OK, mini-rant over. I shall go attempt to remove some youths from the grass out front.

360 IANAL but from what I read (the basis for appeal), unless some kind of nasty fix is in, there's no grounds, and the appeal will never go through.

There's even one complaint that it was "rushed". You don't need vague bullshit like that in a winning appeal, the claims related to rushing would be far more specific. It tells me they don't have a leg to stand on.

Which is reasonable - neither of them are The Boss.

You said, though, that he'd go back to 'amnesty today, amnesty tomorrow, amnesty forever Rubio.' I'm just wondering what you base that on. I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest that 2013 Rubio and 2028 Rubio would be the same.

It's the idea that people don't/can't change I don't accept. Reagan was a Democrat. Trump was a Democrat. Rubio supported amnesty.

I don't subscribe to the permanence of bad decisions.

I didn't say that. I said that the people pumping up Rubio assume that he won't. I make no assumptions either way. He hasn't declared that he's running. He hasn't made any policy statements. He's only acted as Trump's proxy.

In short, it's too early.
