Prepare for a Non-Shock: Staffer for Rejected Liberal RINO John Cornyn Joins James Talarico Campaign

They spend years lying to us about being conservative, and after we eject them, they confirm that we were right all along.

James Talarico Poaches Cornyn Staffer

Poaches? I suspect this traitor went running to his real political allies.

Cross-party hires are rare, but the move could show the Senate Democratic campaign is hoping to reach out to Republicans in reliably red Texas.

Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico's campaign hired a staffer from Republican Sen. John Cornyn, NOTUS has learned.

Jacob Smith, who worked for Cornyn for five years as a deputy legislative director and policy adviser, is taking on the role of deputy policy director for Talarico's campaign.

"I've worked for Republicans like Senator Cornyn my entire career, but this year I'm proud to be joining James Talarico's campaign," Smith confirmed in a statement through the Talarico campaign. "Instead of playing partisan politics, Talarico speaks to the needs of everyday people who day in and day out work too hard for too little. In the Senate, James will fight to lower costs for all 31 million Texans, whether they're Republicans, Democrats, or independents, so that Texans of all ages have a fighting chance at the American Dream of starting a family, owning a home, and leaving a little behind for their children."

Smith also took aim at the GOP nominee, adding, "Ken Paxton is the most corrupt, self-dealing politician in Texas who would sell their futures to the highest contributor just to hold onto power. I'm encouraging all my fellow Republicans who know Ken Paxton is unfit to serve in the Senate to finally hold him accountable at the ballot box."

Smith previously worked on the House Science Committee for Rep. Frank Lucas (R-Oklahoma) and was a legislative aide for Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi).

When contacted for comment, a Cornyn spokesperson directed NOTUS to remarks the senator has made repeatedly in recent months where he's said he will "support the Republican ticket" in the fall.

Sure, sure.

Thanks to Buck Throckmorton.

Update:

JAMES TALARICO: "With the SAVE Act, they are trying to rob our neighbors, strictly our black neighbors, of those God given rights."

11 The only reasons Cornyn was in office as long as he was is because
a) The Democrat opponent was always way worse;
b) The Texas GOP made dang sure that Cornyn never had a serious primary contender.

But the Texas GOP was unable to keep Paxton off the ballot, so Cornyn lost the primary. And he is still pissed about that.

I was watching either a Bulwark podcast or Pod Save America....no difference, because it was people from both shows (former Bush and Obama staffers) talking, and the Bush staffers very much sounded like they didn't like (or care about) conservative policy goals...it was just a job, trying to help a client (Bush) win. In a way, it was nice because it sounded very mercenary/mafia (nothing personal, just business), but ultimately I think you expose yourself to risk, especially in the future, if you hire people to help discuss critical strategy stuff that don't believe it, and could jump ship to the enemy later.

Thune for one. Basically staffers are there to exercise power and/or to get rich from teh K Street banditos. Senate legislative assistants, in particular, spend a lot of time with their Dem counterparts liaising with donor groups drafting uniparty legislation.

They have the faithfulness of a whore and I think this guy jumped because he wasn't going to retain his cushy job with Cornyn, is likely to get paid well by Talarico's campaign, and then will probably try to land in some lobbying firm for an interest group.

The good news is he is now toxic to the GOP officeholders being able to openly hire him as an aide , the bad news is there are bunch just like him as senior staffers for other aging toads sitting as GOP senators.

1) depressing how far left the R majority used to be
2) encouraging how much work we have already done
3) confirms that, right now, there are basically 10 R Senators that oppose Trump on most everything.

But we are winning. A slow grind, but we are.

The real tell on when we've won is, the R Senator assigned to gavel-in/out the pro forma session, alerts Trump only and then does a no show-no call.
And Trump recess appoints his entire slate.

Bullshit poll. For a state like Texas, you need about 900-1000 sample size at a minimum and I would have to see their screening questions as to likely voters. Apparently this polling season has a problem with overenthusiastic DSA response and lackluster response to polling by normal Democrats. That is what is causing for example the wide disparities in WI, MI, and other contested primaries between actual results and the poll forecasts. The other problem is you have key demographics that need to be oversampled and 400 is not enough to get that. Blacks for example, Hispanics for another. Get a bunch of White Bread DSA types in the poll but it will not reflect whether minority groups turn out or not. Talarico has to have blacks and Hispanics for a shot at winning. AWFLs and soyboys are not enough.

And the Interactive polling is crap by the way--always has a serious problem with selection bias when you ask by email or by text for a response.

Polling usually sucks before they get serious about just before early voting starts. Once early voting starts, you can take turnout in certain districts as a corrective to the likely voting models, especially for Dems. But we have not seen the deluge of ads yet as Trump and the RNC are about to open the floodgates, they always launch right around Labor Day for the GOP and indys. More bang per buck on ads. Summer ads fade into the mist by that time.

Debunking academics and proving plagiarism takes an immense amount of effort.

Obsolete, that number has been trending downward for some time in polling as troon theater is just not that amusing anymore. And that cite to Gallup is wrong, it is 22.3 percent (dating from 2024). Just checked their website about the same in a separate 2025 survey. And the largest category is 'bisexual' which is most probably fake due to social pressures especially among women. 16.1 percent to be exact.

And it seems that the amount and frequency of sex for Gen Z is collapsing too. 30 percent of males are celibate (willing and unwilling), 24 percent have not had sex in a year as per NYT.

And this, "EduBirdie surveyed 2,000 Gen Z adults and found 67% would pick a solid night of sleep over sex. Career security came next at 64%, then personal success at 59%, friendships at 50%, and alone time at 46%. ". They date less, have sex less frequently, and plans for marriage and kids are in the toilet. Most likely due to perceived economic insecurity.

225 201 I've seen woman complaining about the lack of mental health treatment opportunities. Clancy had at least three different Drs and was pumped full of meds by each of them. Lack of treatment wasn't her problem

One of the bigger problems in medicine is the number of drugs we proscribe that seem to not actually resolve the underlying issue.

And I guess here, you can't make a psychopath not a psychopath by giving them a pill
Posted by: 18-1 at August 18, 2026 02:17 PM (sKqQm)

But, you can create a psychopath with the right cocktail of pills...

I was on a cruise, so haven't followed this at all...but pumping a postpartum lady with meds does give me pause b/c some of the severe side effects of those usual meds are desire to homicide/suicide and psychosis...

Debunking academics and proving plagiarism takes an immense amount of effort.
Posted by: zombie

First step on plagiarism is to take the document and submit it to turnitin.com. Takes about a minute. AI models using agents can take that a step beyond by checking and summarizing cites from the various sources listed to seek if the lit review is a fair summary of prior research and this is where plagiarism often lurks. Last is where the data came from and was it public sourced or private. To disprove private data requires asking the researcher or perhaps reviewers for the data sample.

Debunking takes a lot more time because you a) really need to replicate the original study which in soft sciences is almost always poorly documented, b) to debunk stat models means you have to have familiarity with them. One can catch logic errors in a reading but data and results requires reverse engineering the original study.

237 Obsolete, that number has been trending downward for some time in polling as troon theater is just not that amusing anymore. And that cite to Gallup is wrong, it is 22.3 percent (dating from 2024). Just checked their website about the same in a separate 2025 survey. And the largest category is 'bisexual' which is most probably fake due to social pressures especially among women. 16.1 percent to be exact.

I think a lot of that is just normal kids in the maelstrom of Woke schools just adopting protective coloration. She deserves sympathy. But she also deserves jail time. When I had my second daughter, I heard voices coming out of her monitor, and they were not kind and loving. It was one of the scariest things I have been through. As real as they were, and they were real to me, I knew somewhere in the back of my mind they actually were not. Instead of harming my baby, I turned the monitor off, forced myself to say “this is not real, this is in your head”and cried. I was terrified to tell anyone while this was going on because I knew it was crazy. It was a horrible few months where the monitor was turned off, and I hoped the baby was okay when it was turned off. After 3 months, it was gone.

It could work as a legal defense, although if the allegation above is true that she deliberately lied to her husband to get him to leave so she could do it, it strongly indicates she knew it was wrong, which is generally the legal standard for whether an insanity plea will be accepted.

Yep. The number that actually come out as lesbians, male homosexuals, or even trans are still well below 10 percent of the population. And with teh dominance of females in higher ed right now on attendance, at many schools 60-40 or worse even, makes it much more likely to claim a vague bisexual label as a female (where a guy would get the suck one dick and you are a homo not bisexual bit.) I Kissed a Girl went mainstream, you don't see popular male singers come out and sing I Kissed a Boy without being marked as gay.

But if you watch her in interviews, she's a dullard who doesn't seem prepared for even the most obvious softballs.
