I wasn't familiar with Henryk Siemiradzki paintings but this caught my eye. The clean details of the surroundings, natural poses, and especially the unarmored Alexander just draw in the viewer. Even if the audience doesn't know the story behind the painting it is still evocative.
Alexander's idealized body, exposed, vulnerable and open to death, almost has a feel of Christ trusting to God to deliver him. Siemiradzki did a number of Christ-centered biblical paintings so I wondered about a possible connection in the artist's mind. Posted by: JTB at August 19, 2026 09:55 AM (yTvNw) 103

I wouldn’t be too sure. Capital investments take a lot of planning, years ahead of time, and one of the keys to any successful economy is a certain kind of predictability, insofar as that is possible in this world. Nobody wants to take the risk of allocating a gazillion dollars towards something, when a merry band of dumb shit Democrats will simply come along and kill it. A San Francisco high school where students get top grades simply for showing up now has the highest acceptance rate in the state to the prestigious University of California, Berkeley — as critics blame rampant grade inflation and rock-bottom standards for a surge in ill-prepared college students who end up dropping out.
Mission High School had a 45% acceptance rate into the elite university, with 34 out of its 76 applicants gaining admission last fall, far ahead of the state average of 15%, according to data compiled by the San Francisco Chronicle. ===== This school is a sham indoctrination center. Agreed. The left does one thing exceptionally well and that’s stick together. They may have internal divisions but put that aside to defeat the enemy. Look at 2020 and 2016.
