Hamtramck City Council votes to allow animal sacrifice for religious purposes in the city
After months of debate, the city council has voted to allow the practice of animal sacrifice, for religious purposes, in Hamtramck.
The decision ultimately came down to a more than 30-year-old U.S. Supreme Court ruling that says cities cannot infringe on religious freedom under the first amendment.

This is the media, so they're lying to you (of course). The case they're talking about is the Santaria animal sacrifice case.

The court did not find that people had a right to sacrifice animals. It found only that a law specifically passed to block a religious minority (Santaria) from sacrificing animals was a violation of the right to free exercise of religion.

In other words, it is perfectly legal to generally ban animal sacrifice, or the slaughter of animals outside of a slaughterhouse and apply that law to religious minorities. The Supreme Court only said you cannot ban something specifically to thwart the practice of a religion.

Presumably, slaughtering animals is already illegal in Michigan (except in licensed slaughterhouses) or else they wouldn't have had to pass an ordnance permitting it.

So they're lying to you, as usual, giving it the "what's the big deal, the Supreme Court decided this in 1993 already" treatment.

But it's a lie. And either these "expert journalists" can't be bothered to look up a major Supreme Court case, or did look it up, and chose to consciously lie to readers to convince them this is No Big Deal.

The act of animal sacrifice is often practiced among Muslims during Eid.
"Our city is dirty enough. We don't want to make it more dirty," a Hamtramck resident said during a city hall meeting.
"Really ridiculous catastrophic resolution," another one said. "If it's not passed then we are ready to take it to courts for religious rights because it is constitution."

In fact, there's already work-around for Muslims: They can just pay a butcher to slaughter an animal at the bucher-shop.

But they're whining that that's not good enough.

Animal sacrifice is always tied to religion, even if it is satanic worship or something. At least as far as I know. What other situation would there be an animal sacrifice? Who would the animal be sacrificed to?

This was a very slow process taking centuries, but some valleys had muslims, and some Christians or other groups.

The problem was it happened at an apartment complex that had a row of parking garages. Children were playing while this large animal was dragged/hanged at the opening of the garage.
Children tend to be protected from the reality that animals are killed for humans to eat. It is terrorizing to allow the slaughter to be done in public. imo

there are still some gray areas. You can buy a short barrel for a rifle but you can't put it on without approval, not sure if that has changed. But I can go to some shops and buy a complete SBR now. Texas is on the books not to prosecute possession of a silencer or SBR in Texas but who knows about local government entities. I have only glanced at the ruling so not sure about all the details. I have a friend who was involved in this case that I will see next week. I will get clarification then.

I've seen several videos of human prisoners of various military and terrorist groups have their throats slit. The absolute panic and fear in their eyes certainly led me to believe it was tortuous.
