The Left's Dreamboat Assassin Luigi Mangione Close to Pleading Guilty In Execution of United Healthcare CEO and Father Brian Thompson
These are federal charges, so they plea deal is being negotiated by "Trump's" DOJ. But we all know about the Southern District of NY, where Comey's foul daughter worked.
If this is a sweetheart deal -- if it's anything less than life in prison without parole -- then every single corporation should immediately evacuate New York City, as this communist shithole has been determined to be a place where a jury won't convict a leftwing killer. And if Trump doesn't like the deal, he should overrule "his" lawyers and yank it off the table.I fear that's exactly the plan.

Luigi Mangione is expected to plead guilty Friday to federal charges in connection with the 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan, according to sources familiar with the matter. The expected plea change comes less than a month before Mangione, 28, is scheduled to go to trial in a state murder case in connection with the fatal shooting of Thompson, 50, a father of two. Luigi Mangione was meeting with his lawyers this morning at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn in advance of tomorrow's federal court hearing in Manhattan, according to a source familiar with the matter. Lawyers for Mangione declined to comment. The Justice Department and a court spokesperson also declined to comment. It is unclear if Mangione will plead guilty to one or both of the two stalking-related charges in his federal case. While details of Mangione's plea are not immediately clear, he could reverse his decision at any time, even during the hearing. Sources familiar with the matter stressed that plea negotiations are ongoing and that nothing is final until Mangione himself accepts or enters into a plea deal. If he is convicted, he could face a life sentence.

If a plea deal is being discussed, it's obviously something less than life. Otherwise, he could just plead guilty and gamble on the sentencing, or just go to trial and hope for acquittal.

I think there are enough stupid people they could get on that jury to convict unfortunately. Look what happened with OJ on the reverse side.
The OJ jury wasn’t stupid. They knew full well what they were doing, as retribution for Rodney King
The charges they’re planning to plea guilty to are the 2 federal stalking charges so that they can potentially use these charges to argue that New York’s Double Jeopardy law would make it so the state murder charges couldn’t be charged since the stalking charges are directly linked to the murder case. Maybe plea to those stalking charges and they drop the state charges to only a few and ask for concurrent sentences to do like 25 years. Better than life I suppose.
Jury Nullification was actually promising in this instance. I understand the option and choice to plea for a lesses sentence; however, this was a chance for the general public to show up for him and send a message of utter disdain towards insurance companies as a whole with a not guilty verdict.
Or, he realized that the real world is not Reddit and he doesn't have the blind support he has here.

Barracks that are crawling with vermin and covered in mold, food that is barely edible...it's bad.

The case is circumstantial. I think it's powerful evidence in total that he did it, but juries often don't trust circumstantial evidence. They want to see the guy commit the crime, or hear from someone who did.
All you need is one weak or soft juror -- or a corrupt one -- and the jury is hung. There's a chance of that happening in this case. That's why there's talk of a plea deal.

if there is anything the uke war has shown it is if you can see an enemy you can kill it. So tanks and APCs are not as useful as they once were.
This should have us looking to replace a lot of the expensive armor and munitions with cheaper things - drones, artillery, 2k dumb bombs but I have zero faith the DoD would agree to such a change in priority.

Plus, it's a long time at sea crammed into tight quarters in probably challenging operational posture. As reports have noted, "This current mission has established a new modern record for consecutive days at sea without a port call"

I will say I think we made a mistake in the way we labeled things back in 2001. This issue wasn't terrorism per se, the issue was radical islam declared war on the west and chose terrorism - targeting civilian targets to induce fear - as their means of war.
All wars, well ones you want to win, target reducing your enemy's will to fight. So while we spent 20 years giving jihadis the martyrdom they wanted and then paying their families for it, they killed random people and reduced our ability to live normal lives.
If we had responded to 9/11 with Tokyo style firebombings of every Taliban held city and Sunni Arab city in Iraq I suspect
the last 20 years of war would have looked very different.

Regardless, the sailors and Marines aboad have been there for a long time. They did exercise in November-January and were supposed to go home when Epic Fury called. The Tripoli group was in the same boat, but they got to go home (well, Okinawa) a couple of weeks ago. Maybe Navy can send a different carrier group to relieve the Lincoln.

Regardless, the sailors and Marines aboad have been there for a long time. They did exercise in November-January and were supposed to go home when Epic Fury called. The Tripoli group was in the same boat, but they got to go home (well, Okinawa) a couple of weeks ago. Maybe Navy can send a different carrier group to relieve the Lincoln.

I'm probably one of the few who think that plea bargains shouldn't even be a thing.
If the state can't prove its case, it shouldn't be charging the defendant in the first place.
Note that I do believe that the overwhelming majority of people in prison are there justifiably.
But...I also believe that of the small fraction of innocent people in prison, the overwhelming majority are there because of a plea bargain.

Just got back from Minnedishu this week. It is amazing to me how the city of Minneapolis have ceded large chucks of the city to agitators and Grievance Mongers. Everything about the city is completely degraded from what it was when I grew up there in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. It's sad.
