Trash birds.

This is one big chungus baby tiger.

Old but good: Dressing your dog up in a giant spider costume and terrorizing the neighbors.

A tripod fish.

I could do this but I don't feel like it right now.

Deer and bunny are friends.

Hand-feeding a wild hawk.

This starling's mimicry is eerie.

Cat saves a chicken from a fox. They're not all evil.

19 Top Pic. Is he looking at his friggin' cell phone?!

I really hate seeing almost everybody walking blindly down the path, glued to their fucking phones. I do keep my phone with me (in case I have a heart attack or something), but I do not carry it in my hand while walking. People! Enjoy the outdoors. Feel the sun, and the breeze. Listen to the birds. Chirp at the skwerls. Nod at passersby.

And, lest you think I am yelling at the younger folks, I see people my age doing the same damn thing.

Definitely near the top of my pet peeve list.

I do not want to excuse the abusers of language - Lord knows I love to beat up the English a bit myself - but apparently it's because someone thought flout was itself a corruption of flaunt because they saw someone breaking a rule one time "ostentatiously".

To make matters worse this mistake became codified somewhere along the way as a tolerable one. But the wrong word, however similar, is not a tolerable substitute for the right word.

And honestly I don't give a shit about most other wrong words or word orders or spellings. English is supposed to be fun. It's just when someone flouts this particular one, I believe they do so ostentatiously.

I came across a "LaMonte" in our family tree two days ago, out in second cousin territory as a grandfather of some degree. No evidence was available immediately to judge whether he was a big dummy, but that branch hasn't beennfully scoped out yet.

The "inbred royalty" line is old English propaganda. The Habsburgs constantly sought marriages outside their line to add new territories. That's how Charles V could be such a threat to the rest of Europe.

There used to be a saying that the Habsburgs were unlucky in war, but lucky in marriage because they didn't conquer territory, they married into it.

Speaking of respectable, unbiased purveyors of fact, I offer up the WSJ & CNBC for your consideration. Just this past week, I have seen these headlines. I'm going to rely on my memoiy-- not going to go through a lot of dreck to quote verbatim, but trust me:

"Trump Falsely States Childhood Vaccines May Cause Serious Health Problems"

"Trump Claims Wrongly That Voting By Non-Citizens Is Widespread"

Like that! This is not bilge from The View or Vanity Fair! This is respectable journalism!

They've not learned the snow job that is "free range chicken" yet, have they?

Chickens are dumb. Their gateway to "free ranging" is a single door at the end of a chicken house dozens of yards long. Ain't no chickens taking the long walk to go out that door.

199 I've probably told this story before, but don't really care.

When he was about a year old, I kept trying to get him 'thinking toys'. He solved every one so quickly it was slightly creepy. Then I found one. It was a bottle with the screw end on the large end (the bottle looked kind of like a milk bottle.) In the small open end there was a rope inserted in the neck of the bottle. The idea being you filled the bottle up with treats, the dog would pull on the rope or swing the bottle around and get treats one or two at a time.

So I fill the bottle up and set the toy down in front of Ajax. He gets down and just stares at it. Sniffs both ends and just stares some more. Wheels turning furiously. I turn around thinking 'got you.'

Then about 5 mind later I hear munching. Turn around in my chair and there is Ajax with a pile of treats in front of him, pigging out. The bottle half empty beside him. Intact. And im like 'Whaaaaa'. He just wagged his tail at me.

I have only ever had one "pure bred" dog. He was an amazing terrier, but downright odd. Not stupid, but driven, in the silly way terriers tend to be.

I have had many mutts, some were (are) idiots and some ridiculously intelligent dogs. The two I have now are Alaskan sled dogs, which means a mix of Siberian husky, probably some lab, probably some German shepherd, sometimes a little bit of wolf depending on the dog yard they bred in, and sometimes something else. They are bred for speed and endurance, and for sleeping in the snow below zero.

One sister is crafty and curious, the other is a complete idiot, but loyal in her stupidity. They look similar, except that one about 10 lbs bigger than the other. They are both fast and can run forever.

Breeding isn't just for "pure breed" conformance. Sometimes it is for other reasons.

It's like a litter/palanquin. There are bars projecting from the sides, and the men around it are carrying it by those bars. I don't think anyone is dumb enough to be underneath the 2.5 ton tower....

Posted by: mikeski at August 12, 2026 10:00 PM (VHUov)

206 So I am wondering how he did it. Because I cannot quite figure it out. The screw end is intact. The rope end is intact.

So I fill it back up and put it down in front of him again. Sat down in my chair and turned around but kept glancing over my shoulder.

He turned the bottle around so it was laying on his front legs, small end away from him. He then grasped the big end in his mouth. Then shook the bottle up and down, spilling the treats out in a small pile .
I stopped trying to buy him 'thinking toys' because I realized it was just insulting for us both.

Everyone is different though. You have to make allowances for differences in situation and temper.

For example I call my wife a cunt to her face all the time. She's British. She expects it. Now if I called her a libtard, or said she was like her mother, those would be fighting words.
