The drought is very real. Read a discussion online talking about how little rain they are getting. There's no hay, so nothing to feed them. The rain comes in at an odd pattern, where some areas get heavy rains while areas a few miles away get nothing. It's impacting crops too, of course, but it takes longer to build a herd back up.

Abdul keeps getting better and better. The Dem establishment tried to br___ him down with commercials saying he disrespected women. They should have used this... Abdul must not like dogs. Far-left Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who has campaigned heavily on his credentials as a doctor and public-health official, is under fire over his time leading the Detroit Health Department, during which the city’s animal-control operation euthanized more than 4,000 dogs and cats. According to records obtained by the Daily Mail, nearly 4,680 dogs and cats were put down by Detroit Animal Care and Control between 2015 and 2017 while El-Sayed served as executive director and health officer. In 2015 alone, the facility killed 1,988 dogs and 272 cats, accounting for more than a quarter of all dogs euthanized in the county that year. I was surprised that ATF didn't ask for a stay but they still have another 50-something days to file an appeal so anything can still happen. That said, I'm not sure how many people who wanted one were still being put off post-OBBB. Some for sure, but tens of thousands? Millions? I dunno. When OBBB passed, my prediction was that increased demand would lead to increased prices which would lead to increased production and/or new producers which would lead to decreased prices. That actually doesn't seemed to have happened. So will it happen now? Again, I dunno. It still seems reasonable to me but I'm a proven loser at predicting what other people will do. I have seen some polls out of Ohio (If they are actually real and not slewed) with the clown Sherrod Brown leading in the Senate race.
Are the people of Ohio that dumb to reelect this clown and give another vote for Schumer and the Commies ??? Posted by: Buster Hymand at August 13, 2026 09:04 PM (y7IOQ) 120
Last rain we had here was at the end of June. Cold rain, high temp was 59 degrees. Since then, bupkis, and plenty of heat. Would love to see some good rain knock down the fires all over the damn place. The Big Grass fire in the Owyhee got some rain, but, probably not enough to make much difference. It's up to about 600,000 acres now.

Posted by: Pug Mahon, This is the Worst Timeline at August 13, 2026 08:50 PM (0aYVJ) I forgot about that one. It was but I thought it was just more tragic as I didn't feel any connection to the characters. I thought it was an interesting movie though and have watched it a couple of times. Hi Pug!
Washington State is having some fires as well. mount Baker is supposed to get snow this weekend. Kinda early, but maybe we will get a bomb snow year. It would be nice. We got significant snow on the beach in winter 2020. Folks harnessed a husky dog team and had them pull a sled full of kids in 14 inches of snow on the beach. It was hilarious. They brought the Argentine beef in for hamburger. It has to be mixed with a certain percentage of fat. American cattle have excess fat, so it can be mixed with lean Argentine beef. Not sure what the plan is. I think there is a pending farm bill.

Saw these gas prices today. On one corner Speedway..$3,25. On the opposite corner Thornton..$3.74. In the past I've seen them vary by a couple of cents but never by that much.

whom does the OH GOP have to run against Sherrod?
Colorado's GOP chose God to run for Governor. Technically God's missionary, name of Victor Marx. That's the pitch Marx is putting on his flyers, that God chose Marx to run in that state. Pretty bold strategy given Colorado's demographics in 2026. Posted by: 88C+u at August 13, 2026 09:16 PM (88C+u) 135
Today I drove from far north seattle to far south seattle with a detour downtown to see if it was full on zombieland thanks to the communist and incompetent mayor. Its not. While I'd hate to be a commercial real estate broker with all the vacancies, the streets were relatively full of normal looking people.

I had to quit feeding the hummingbirds because they were draining the feeders daily.
2-3 dozen hummingbirds at once cease being cute and start being aggravating. So the daughter and grandkids took the feeders. They think having tons of hummingbirds swarming about is awesome. Posted by: SMH at God's mercy at August 13, 2026 09:46 PM (FdpeO) 157
