My only defense of him is that he may have thought that he would be able to see what was coming and have enough time to concoct a good battle plan.

The star was a "brevet" position, meaning that he was in a general officer position and given the honors according to rank, but it was only ever a temporary position and not an actual promotion.

Getting court martialed while stationed in Kansas didn't help his career much either. (Left his unit to attend to his wife and was suspended for a year.)

92 This is interesting. The artist is considered 'modern realistic'. That seems to mean recognizable but not natural. Easy to see it's Custer but the color choices and application is almost Impressionistic, especially in the skin tones and folds of the clothing. Looking at this one and others like his portrait of Trump (which is excellent), it feels like he painted over a photograph using his own style. Don't know if that is true, just an idea.

I don't know. The Army being there was already the immediate and concerted effort to do something about them. That battle didn't pop up out of nowhere, it had already been years and years of expanding and accelerating terrorism, and minor skirmishes weren't doing the job.

Who knows. Maybe the whole thing was a big dumb fake and gay PsyOp to begin with, and they could get rid of Custer in the process as a bonus.

"That's stupid" is becoming less and less salient as an argument overall, as it becomes more and more apparent just how stupid humanity actually is.

You might have misunderstood my point. What I'm saying is if fraud is alive and well then the voters don't matter as much as you think. And if you assume that the establishment would not cheat to put a DSA person in office then I believe you need to reassess that assumption bigly.

The 'fair election' part, though, is - you're exactly correct - a HUGE assumption.

The counterpoint, though, is that Trump won Michigan by 1.5 in 2024. There is no world in which the Dems could have denied him the state and just chose not to.

OR - you are right they couldn't cheat Trump out, but Trump isn't on this ballot this time and they are currently orchestrating a "wave" and I expect they will get it.

The government's unspoken premise seemed to be that Custer's (I suppose we won't see any "Confederate Victory Day" at Fredericksburg, etc.) However, renowned historian Paul Andrew Hutton ("The Undiscovered Country") did give a sensible speech, even mentioning Gen. Arthur St. Clair (whose 1791 defeat dwarfed that of Custer as an Indian victory) and pointing out that in sending out Custer, the U.S. Army was sending out its best.
