Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Wednesday Morning Rant![]() During ABC's presidential debate, Trump said: "In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in, they are eating the cats. They're eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there."The officials said it isn't happening, you say? Well, that's good enough for me! They did no reporting. They asked no real people in Springfield. They didn't send a "journalist" to go to migrant areas of Springfield and talk to the natives. They picked up the phone, got the official Party line from the local officials, printed it uncritically and asserted that anyone claiming otherwise was spreading disinformation from Trump and his villainous allies. This trip down memory lane is just to set the stage, because this is such a common Press tactic that it has become almost invisible. The progression is always the same: CLAIM: Spain’s move to legalize the status of immigrants caused the rush. THE FACTS: Spain’s government is carrying out an amnesty for immigrants without residency permits who could prove they had been living in the country for at least five months and arrived before Jan. 1, 2026. Over 1 million people applied before the window closed at the end of last month. So they did grant amnesty - but that doesn't apply to these guys because they came too recently. Nobody said that these guys would get amnesty because of the law change - but the AP certainly can't discuss how amnesty inevitably leads to more migration or sets the stage for additional violations of the border. Ignore the problem. Just say it's not a thing. CLAIM: A misconstrued Spanish court ruling is to blame. THE FACTS: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has pushed the argument that a recent ruling by Spain’s Supreme Court had been intentionally misconstrued by migrant smugglers to convince thousands of people to cross the border by swimming around the border fence. So the ruling was construed as saying it said exactly what it said, but the problem is that people noticed that the ruling said what it said. Amazing! AP "debunked" this one by verifying it. Top-notch work. CLAIM: Those who crossed will end up in mainland Europe. THE FACTS: The Ceuta crossings have led to political leaders in Italy, France and other EU nations to take measures that appear aimed at stopping people from entering their countries. Premier Giorgia Meloni threatened to suspend Italy’s open-border Schengen agreement with Spain even though Italy doesn’t share a border with Spain and receives many more migrants crossing the Mediterranean than Spain. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said France would also strengthen border checks with Spain. This one is amazing. "This claim is absolutely true - but because it's true, some other European countries are on the brink of destroying the treaty basis for the entire European Union, so it now isn't true." That's one hell of a take. I'd love it if this spells the beginning of the end of the EU, but claiming that countries abrogating Schengen because of the risks associated with Schengen means that Schengen presents no risks is such a baffling conclusion that only a genuine retard - a Press-grade retard - could come up with it. This tactic has long since become absurd. People see what's happening and know that something's rotten and talk about it, so the Press comes marching in to interview some officials or NGO types and then claim that none of this is what it so obviously is. A group of prominent liars asks another group of prominent liars a question and then uncritically publishes the deceitful response while liberally filling in the blanks however they please - and then have the temerity to lament the loss of institutional trust. It s not difficult to explain the latter, as this level of contemptuous and deceitful stupidity is so common and so normal that it has become transparent to the point of tedium. Thomas Sowell strikes again, like clockwork.
We are currently in STAGE 4 "It's complicated." "STAGE 1. THE “CRISIS”: Some situation exists, whose negative aspects the anointed propose to eliminate. STAGE 2. THE “SOLUTION”: Policies to end the “crisis” are advocated by the anointed, who say that these policies will lead to beneficial result A. Critics say that these policies will lead to detrimental result Z. The anointed dismiss these latter claims as absurd and “simplistic,” if not dishonest. STAGE 3. THE RESULTS: The policies are instituted and lead to detrimental result Z. STAGE 4. THE RESPONSE: Those who attribute detrimental result Z to the policies instituted are dismissed as “simplistic” for ignoring the “complexities” involved, as “many factors” went int determining the outcome." A lefty guy I know just published a book on the future of the EU, the central tenant of which is that the EU has turned into a dictatorship of sorts, benevolent generally, and run technocratically. For now.
Because it was never an organic, "consent of the governed" organization, it was always an imposition from above. Now it is threatening to turn ugly. Unfettered immigration, IMO, is the issue that will break the Union. First off, the countries cannot afford it. Second, their prisons aren't big enough (See UK "Early Release" plans). Third, there is cultural backlash turning overwhelmingly political (Germany). Posted by: Huck Follywood at August 05, 2026 11:13 AM (zG53D) 36

The problem is that they are writing history's first draft. Today we see the obvious lie. But they keep repeating in, and 10 years later you hear it and you think, "hey, I seem to recall that wasn't the case," but you do an internet search and all you pull up are links that confirm the lie. Then 15-20 years later, they've worked the lie into textbooks, scholarship, heck, there's even a new HBO "based on true events" movie that all reinforce the lie. Now the people who didn't live through it, or who didn't really follow it at the time, are completely brainwashed. They do this because it works. They do this because they are in it for the long game. Sure, we'll point and laugh at how "stupid" these journalists are, but they are creating the foundation for the lie to live on, long past our memory of the truth. They are the modern-day equivalent of actors, court jesters, and performers of old. Basically, cheap whores. Today's "journalists" are much better paid, but do not reside much higher in the minds of the public. Poll after poll puts journalists at a lower approval rating than "rats crawling up your ass and laying eggs." Journalists are routinely despised by normal people. Eugyppius' analysis -- https://tinyurl.com/ywcvdhzp
The migrants aren’t really a great labour force; they remain overwhelmingly on the dole and unemployed. The humanitarian thesis feels increasingly post hoc to me – a story we started telling ourselves when the migration was already happening and we needed somehow to feel good about it. And some parties on the left may once have hoped that the migrants would form a favourable client class to cement their political dominance, but on the electoral front migration has served only to fuel the rise of the populist right. Mostly these insane things happen because we’re weak, and our leaders have lost interest in basic state functions like border security. They’ve moved on to more interesting and exotic projects – weird social engineering projects to stamp out whatever they imagine “the right” to be, weird energy projects to phase out fossil fuel combustion, weird governance projects to relocate responsibility over many aspects of the economy and daily life to unelected managers and technocrats. Mass migration is in nobody’s interest but it keeps happening because the flabby and distracted states of Europe can’t be arsed to stop it. Posted by: Kindltot at August 05, 2026 11:38 AM (rbvCR) 88

The fact that the commie media is desperate to spin this Moroccan invasion into something other than what it clearly is a very welcome and positive development.
Why? 1. The story is too big and explosive to bury. The commie media initially tried to ignore or downplay it. That failed. 2. The desperate spin shows the commie media is very worried about the optics of the invasion. Thousands of half-naked mongrel men pouring into a city like a scene out of World War Z is much scarier and more provocative than the pics of short fat women dragging haggardly babies in caravan lines in Mexico. 3. In fact, the optics are so abominably rat-smellingly bad that half of normally immigrant-loving Europe closed or threatened to close their borders to Spain. The FBI opened a criminal probe specifically targeting Donald Trump in May 2017, alleging the newly elected president may have been acting as a Russian asset when he fired then-Director James Comey even though the bureau’s own evidence overwhelmingly showed at the time there was no collusion with the Kremlin.
Internal memos newly declassified by the White House show the investigation – codenamed “Oxferd Comma” – was launched in the immediate aftermath of Comey’s May 9, 2017, firing and was predicated on an allegation that previously released memos show the bureau’s own agents had mostly dismissed. It's an outside company who hires a third party hacker to put hidden script into the source code. That guy gets paid, as does the advertiser depot that hired the hacker. It's a growing problem. It's also a felony violation of the current cyber laws. So, the more views the criminal gets, the more money he gets...which is why it pops up so frequently, and switches content each time.

It's 100% scriptjacking.
No one who isn't Hot Air levels of retarded would intentionally festoon their entire site behind layers of popups that are onerous to navigate around and activate on every page load. Posted by: Warai-otoko at August 05, 2026 12:22 PM (Vq1pX) 173
It’s great there are ad blockers. But the typical reader won’t start installing software for a website. They’ll just leave.
Eh, it’s Ace’s joint, he’s calculating the pop up revenue will be worth the lost readers. He may be right he may be wrong. His decision. Posted by: Before You Go at August 05, 2026 12:19 PM (TSRtE) But AOS isn't the only site that has ads or Popups. So installing AdBlock is a no brainer. Or Brave. I have three browsers on my laptop, but usually use Chrome or Brave. Both older versions due to running Win 8.1 on this Qosmio laptop. A group of over 1,000 left-wing lawyers in Germany have demanded the government ban the anti-mass migration Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party as it has surged to become the most popular in the country.

I hope the fact they are starting to declassify and drop these documents about the conspiracy against Trump means they are getting close to dropping some charges.

____________________ Stay tuned on this one. AfD has moved their support needle up over 40% in a significant part of Germany. Eventually, they are going to be so popular that they will be able to circumvent the opposition parties banning together to curb AfD's influence. With each stabbing, rape, murder, fire...the support needle leans closer to AfD. Trying this late in the game to ban them is desperation. Posted by: Orson at August 05, 2026 12:24 PM (dIske) 180

Losses as GAINZZ news this morning:
I'm down 32lbs since 21 April. I was worried my weightlifting would suffer, but yesterday my squats were good. 1 set 300 x 5 reps. 3 sets 280 x 5 reps. Full depth, good form. It felt good. Posted by: bonhomme at August 05, 2026 12:24 PM (mkw2N) 182
There is a report that the Kurds have started an invasion of Iran.
Probably using the materiel from us that they were supposed to convey to the pro-shah (or at least anti-ayatollah) Iranians. Posted by: Oddbob at August 05, 2026 12:24 PM (vTZFs) 183
Mount Vernon, NY Deputy Police Commissioner Jennifer Lackard ARRESTED for allegedly being the GETAWAY DRIVER for her gang member son after a shooting
Did she turn on the lights and siren as she sped away? That would be so confusing to the residents. Posted by: t-bird at August 05, 2026 12:24 PM (iFEms) 184

"Mornin' Angle..." In Hot Fuzz, the joke is that the Sanford Citizen's lead reporter is an illiterate incompetent, but in real life I'm convinced that the J-schools teach their journalism majors to include "mistakes" and misspellings in every story, no matter how inconsequential. I've read multiple anecdotes or heard stories about how you can watch a local reporter write down the exact information, like a date or a name, check their notes to be sure that they wrote it down correctly, and it'll be horribly wrong by the time it gets published. If the facts, spelling and date for a local car show or art walk are presented accurately, you can be sure that they just cut/pasted the press release with no changes.
