29 I have been dealing with a cold making me miserable for the last couple of days, but the kitten has kept me amused . Not that he's trying to. He just is amusing. He hunches up his back and hops sideways. I call this move "Halloween Cat" or "Playing Richard III". He also gets up on our old rocking chair and puts his paws through as if he's trying to get out of prison.

I do think that younger people should have kittens and we should have gone for a settled older cat, but we love him.

Calves? I sometimes get "charlie horse" calf cramps. Can undo them by raising toes, lowering heel. Yes, got to jump up out of bed to do it, but the relief is instant. Hold the foot position for a few & let muscles relax.

51 Anyway! I'm up, sipping coffee, looking at a stunningly low (for here) temp of 77, and planning to go work out.

Later we will hit Walmart for supplies -- my refrigerator freezer has ice, one pot pie, three burritos, and some frozen peas and carrots. Nothing more. I dunno how that happened.

last night on Movies!, I watched the classic thriller Wait Until Dark w/ Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin -- it still pulls you in after sixty years! -- and Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train. I don't think I've ever seen the film all the way through; the denouement was new to me. Different from the book, I think, though I can't recall how it ended.

53 I get bad cramps in the arches of my feet. Usually aggravated by bad footwear and dehydration. I've found that stretching helps. Start doing a daily routine of squat stretches, a nice slow flat footed squat like you were trying for perfect form in the gym on a squat rack. Just with no weight. Stretches out everything pretty good, especially the calves and ankles.

59 Last night I recall a fragment of a dream where I was driving a dark red compact Mercedes 190E from the mid-'80s in a suburban neighborhood, and trying to follow Walter Matthau in his bigger car. Apparently he was a cop tracking a perp or suspect, so maybe I was too. We got to a major east-west avenue and found it full of pedestrians milling around and waiting for something -- perhaps a parade.

Even in my dreams I am pursued by parades.

60 @48/JQ: Glad you saw the TZ post. :-)

"Hope your leg cramps subside! Calves?"

This one was in the left calf, just above the ankle. I tried moving it around then relaxing it, got worse. Then got up and stood on it, continued to get worse. Realized it was "one of those" so just got dressed and limped downstairs where I could take the magnesium oxide, sit in front of the computer and try to distract myself until the pain subsided.

ONT was good distraction as it often is. It helps pass the time.

62 Second cup downed; it's time to change and stretch. G & R, JQ (if you're here), I get those calf cramps sometimes too. I've learned not to stretch my legs in bed, even when I'm only half awake. But if a cramp hits, I get up and stretch as if I'm going to work out. It usually reduces the cramp right away, enough for me to walk.

I do take magnesium oxide every day as well.

82 @62/Wolfus: Moving and stretching is my first go-to as that sometimes works to release it, as you noted.

There's this other type of cramp where stretching doesn't seem to affect it, and the muscle continues to constrict/contract until it utterly exhausts itself. You're just on the pain train until it decides to release you. No fun. Afterwards, that muscle is tender and pretty much useless for the next day or so.

Of course they're broke. When you're a crook for a living, every dollar you got coming in means you got to pay $0.95 out to some dirty Lesser Than to keep their mouth shut and do the leg work.

Dollars stopped coming in? F. U. Pay me. Didn't win that big election after all? F. U. Pay me.

147 @138/Puddleglum: Been there, done that. Whatever you do, do NOT roll up the windows fully at this juncture, or you'll have a mold-growth problem in the carpet and the under-carpet, and you'll never get rid of it. When this happens on car-lots (and it does) and the salesman was stupid enough to seal up the car, 3 weeks later the interior will be in such a state that the car usually has to be totaled.

Leave all four windows open a crack if it's still raining, and as soon as the rain stops, open all four doors wide and let it dry out completely. If you do this successfully, you should avoid the mold.

Also: Sopping up what you could with towels was a good idea.

This is Elizabeth Ross
She went to Greece to help illegal migrants cross into Europe
There she met an Afghan man and spent time with him
The Afghan man murdered her and put her body in a suitcase
He also used her bank cards to rob money

No Salty, never owned that one. However I did have the single of Snoopy shooting down the Red Baron at Christmastime. What was that called?

193 There was a time I was listening to a lot of Tubular Bells and Wyndham Hill and spending a lot of time in isolation tanks.
But I got better.

Snoopy's Christmas was the 3rd Snoopy tune that the Royal Guardsmen put out, but he didn't shoot down the Red Baron in it.
