a1a24441-8ed2-4ade-87e5-aea9921ac202_616x680.jpg

Good morning boys and girls and everything in between. Before we enter the Prayer Revival just a few housekeeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in Lake Tomahawk.)

1) This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate.
2) Be kind, be nice. Don't be a Fauci.
3) Running with sharp objects once again has been banned.
4) Other than 3) have a great weekend!!!!

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
5/23 – I used to have a Different Nic could use some prayers as he waits for the results of a biopsy of amass on his prostate.
6/23 Update – The latest update is that he has stage 2, “unfavorable intermediate”, which he notes is an awful name, but what it means is, it is in the middle, but bad enough that they want to treat it. It’s
more aggressive than previously thought. He is at the point where he has to decide on treatment options, which means choosing which set of pretty unfortunate side effects he prefers.
7/6 Update – He has gotten a second opinion, and selected the option for treatment, which should begin next week.
7/18 Update – He has started radiation treatment. No side effects thus far.
6/18 – buzzion asked for prayers for a friend named Christina, who has struggled with drug addiction and is in jail again. Buzzion prays that this really is rock bottom and a true wake-up call for her – even if it requires her to stay in jail.
6/29 Update – Christina’s family bonded her out of jail and she has checked into a rehab facility. Please
pray that she gets the help she needs.
7/11 Update – Thank you to everyone for your prayers. Christina is doing well in rehab. Please pray
that she continues through this and keeps working through it even after getting out of her program.
6/20 – bluebell gave an update on grammie Winger. Grammie had some major surgery related to hercancer in March and is pretty much housebound. She said she isn’t keeping up on news since her
diagnosis; she doesn’t have the energy. She said she thinks of her grey-box friends often with fondness.
Please keep praying for her. Your prayers are a source of great comfort to her.
6/27 Update – grammie winger requested bluebell to let the Horde know that she is hospitalizedagain, with sepsis, and cannot eat or walk. She is very tired and cannot speak for long. She is being fedby tube. They don’t know how long she will be hospitalized or where she will go after (rehab, hospice,
etc.). Bluebell has a mailing address for grammie, so please contact bluebell to send a card or note togrammie winger. Please pray for her, that her suffering will be eased, and pray for her family, who are
suffering along with her.
7/25 – grammie winger popped in to say thank you for all the cards, letters, and encouraging words. You are a treasure.
6/27 – “A” sent thanks for the prayers for a family friend, who is at home recovering with the family anddoing much better. “A” has an additional request for long-time friends (J and S) who are in the midst of
intense family problems and requesting healing, peace, repentance, and restoration in the family.
7/18 Update – “A” sends his thanks to all the prayer warriors for all the personal concerns listed here. The requests above are all doing better. Prayer really works. Sometimes the results are not what we expected but end up being what we really needed for other reasons. Thank you all!
7/2 – Publius asked for prayers for his 96 year old mother, who had emergency surgery when a massive hematoma on her leg ruptured, and they couldn’t stop the bleeding due to her being on blood thinners.

Things were not looking good, but Publius posted later she received blood thinner reverser medication,
and was fully conscious and alert after surgery.
7/10 Update – Publius’ mother was moved to a nursing home for post-acute therapy. At this point, sheis very weak but is coming back physically. But her mind is in La La Land.
7/13 Update – Publius’ mother has experienced an absolute miracle. She has come back, fully conscious and cogent. The Lord Almighty has decided her time is not complete.
7/3 – San Franpsycho posted that Mrs. F. was admitted to the hospital from the ER visit, and asks forprayers for a complete and immediate recovery for her. She was conscious enough to phone him late
last night, and it was a great relief that she was awake even for a short period. She continues with IV fluids and atb. Further steps and hopefully improvement await the results of lab tests. The caring concern shown by so many morons has been a great relief. Thank you.
7/5 Update – Mrs. F. remains hospitalized while being treated for salmonella poisoning. She has had some improvement, but is on Day 5 of not being able to keep down any nourishment.
7/11 Update – Mrs. F. came home on 7/7, and has finished her oral antibiotics. They are very grateful for the prayers for healing.
7/7 – Weak Geek asked for prayers for the survivors of RG and KG, a couple in their 90s who were pillars of their church for decades. They were knifed to death on 7/3 by their grandson. The entire congregation is stunned. Please pray for them too, and the pastor, trying to help deal with the tragedy.
7/11 – Mis Hum asked for prayers for Some Rat. He has some serious health issues at this time.
7/11 – Fen requested prayers for comfort and strength for “C” and her mother. “C” is in her 30s and her
father died after a several months long struggle with cancer.
7/11 – P, a long time lurker would appreciate prayers. He says he should have asked for prayers last year, when his stage 4 prostate cancer was first diagnosed, but he was too busy freaking out. A year andnine months later, he is still on hormone therapy and his PSA spiked recently. It’s back up to 92. He is
supposed to start a drug trial soon. He knows from experience that prayer helps, and would greatly appreciate if anyone could include him in their prayers.
7/13 – Captain Obvious posted that he could use some prayers, as he was experiencing some kind of cardiac arrhythmia.
7/15 – Captain JS’ daughter needs prayers for his/her daughter. Early on 7/15, she experienced complete heart failure. She is in the ICU on a heart/lung machine. They will operate to see what is happening. Captain JS sends thanks in advance for the prayers and has faith in their power.
7/15 Update – Thanks to all who responded to Captain JS’ request for prayers. The daughter is still unconscious but is still alive. The doctors suspect a blockage to the left side of her heart. They are planning to take pictures and then insert a stent.
7/18 Update – Captain JS’ daughter passed away. Her heart, brain, and other organs were too damaged to regain function. Captain JS sends his thanks to the Horde for all the prayers.
7/25 – Matthew Kant Cipher humbly asks for prayers for Marshall, a long-time friend and HS classmate of Mrs. MKC, who is currently hospitalized with heart failure.

7/25 – Teresa in Fort Worth posted an update. She is still doing fine. Her chemo pump seems to beworking and everything appears stable for now. She says she is incredibly blessed! She is working on astocking for an as-yet-not-born grandchild. She would appreciate prayers for a successful IVF procedure
and pregnancy for her daughter and hubby. Next week, Teresa and her husband will be going to California to visit their daughter who lives there and her family.
7/29 – Notsothoreau asked for prayers for Billy Ray’s mother, who was just admitted to the hospital
with pneumonia. She is a cancer survivor and chemo destroyed her immune system, so this is a big worry.
7/29 – TecumsehTea wrote that MrTea’s diagnosis is colon cancer stage 4. They are praying for guidance for how to proceed.
7/30 – David sent an update on his wife, Susan, who we have been praying for as she is treated forcancer. Susan is still doing well and her numbers are headed in the right direction, but they are still having issues with the side effects of the chemotherapy. It is manageable, but they have to increase the number of office visits for additional treatments. Some days are really good right now, but others are
only bearable with the Lord’s grace. They are so grateful for the prayers on their behalf.
7/30 - Isophorone Blog requested prayers for his mother. His father passed this past Sunday. His mother had been in the hospital for an entire month previous to that, so they never got to see each other at the end. His mother is out of the hospital, but in declining health.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted ina thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with
the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

4 With my movie vault/plex replacement complete, I've added some metrics pages and was shocked to learn that I have more films from 2000-2010 than any other decade, owing to all of the Super Hero and Sequel films.

I also have no films categorized as horror films in my library and the top five actors in my collection are Hanks, SLJackson, ScarJo, Vin Diesel, and Harrison Ford.

And I only have 4 films from the 30's in my collection.

5 Prayers for my BIL are needed - he is a developmentally disabled adult and has been living independently (sort of) for decades but the time has come for us to make changes in his living arrangements and personal finances. This will not go well as he has VERY poor impulse control and anger issues. Dear wife has POA but that is limited in it's reach and it is probably time for her to be granted guardianship.

Oy.

Is that a Generation 1 Fauci or a Generation 2 Fauci?

Generation 2 Fauci is a brain dead parrot who mindlessly repeats the same phrase over and over again.

Generation 1 Fauci is s mendacious, smug, hectoring know-it-all who cannot keep his nose out of your business, and acts thusly so that he can be lauded by all the swells who share the same character flaws.

12 I saw a good thriller last night, "Dead Calm" (Sam Neill, Nicole Kidman) and realized it probably couldn't or wouldn't be made today. The male lead, the husband, is smart, competent, clear-thinking and cool under pressure. His masculine qualities are demonstrated through actions not words. The wife demonstrates sympathetic feminine virtues, but is also competent, clear-thinking and extremely courageous under pressure. She is not a girl-boss or whiny or bitchy or mannish in any way. They are victimized by a neo-hippie psychopath but are never victims. They have a deep, mature love for each other that proves inspiring and saves them.

The rare thriller that layers in old-fashioned character roles and dimension.

Fauci repeatedly invoked the 5th Amendment because the discovery of his log (AKA, "Fauci's Diary") reveals that he knew about the Wuhan lab leak and inefficacy of the COVID vaccines, but gave contrary advise in public. He has lots of civil liability -- he may not be charged criminally -- but I won't be surprised if he doesn't start to get sued for civil damages.

A doctor (Jeffrey Taucker?) reading "Fauci's Diary" has called him demonic with a dark heart.

49 Seems like every week we see 2 or 3 news articles about 30 year old cold case murders being solved, or remains found 25 years ago being identified via DNA, or a fugitive on the run for 35 years being apprehended. We have come to accept that we may be dead and gone before the man who murdered my wife's father 18 years ago is apprehended (or his corpse found). This past week I sent the investigating CBI agents names and contact info for our adult kids, if that should turn out to be the case. We have largely come to terms with that possibility.
Prayers for justice.

I've taken to saying my Rosary at 6:30 in the morning. I've been up for a while and it's a useful interval before 7:00, when I make Her Majesty's coffee and get Diana and The Big Dummy run outside.

While I recognize the efficacy of the Rosary and while I credit saying it with a greater serenity and while I'm happy to do it, I'm always mentally distracted. I say it in all sincerity but my mind wanders, even though there are no distractions. Well, I hope the Good Lord at least recognizes my perseverance.

84 Me noticing how prayer works in everyday things:

The other day at work the back of my earring fell and bounced somewhere onto the floor under my desk. The floor is the kind of speckled "carpet" tile that is meant to hide dirt. It's also great at hiding tiny earring backs.

I'd been looking for some time, even using a proper flashlight, when I finally said "St Anthony, please help me!" As soon as I said that, the flashlight's beam glinted off metal behind some wires.

Yup, there it was, in a spot I'd already checked previously.

Thank you, St Anthony!

I think it shows that one can be devout and at the same time imperfect.

God loves all of us, and a recurring theme in Catholic literature (Waugh, Greene in particular) is to have messy, sinful people who are nevertheless called to God and contrast them with people who appear righteous, but are just going through the motions.

I've got just enough time to respond:

1) At the Wedding at Cana: the servers informed the Blessed Virgin Mary of the lack of wine.
2) She tells Jesus, "They have no more wine."
3) She tells the servers, "Do what ever He tells you."
4) Jesus Christ performs His first public miracle: turning water into wine.

If you want to disrespect the Mother of God, that's on you. I suspect Jesus is not amused.

I speculate their approach would be an end run around the constitution. Some blue states have already proposed state laws that would give their electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote. I’m no lawyer but it sounds like it’d pass constitutional muster because the state legislatures would’ve dictated how the EVs were allocated

Posted by: LinusVanPelt at August 01, 2026 09:59 AM (26GAh)

No, it’s explicitly unconstitutional. In Article 1 of the Constitution:
“ No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.”

Note that any Compact between States is ONLY constitutional if Congress approves of it. So the Dems plan can only work if they control a majority of the the House, and the Senate, and the States, and the Presidency, and if they get to that point the games already over, so who cares.

Credit an ignorant and uncaring media for never pointing this out.

131 I was watching a video on why you like junk food and it struck me how interesting the perspective taken is.

The video detailed various food scientists and companies that have made food "unnaturally" tasty. For example do you know Prego deviously hired a guy that tried 48 different recipes on the public until he found the couple that people really really liked?

And...yeah. Isn't that the point? If you make food you want to make it taste better then anyone else's because otherwise people won't buy your food.

Now the second point made was that a lot of food is ultra processed and high in fat and sugar. And that's true. Now, why is the grocery store full of that? Because people keep choosing it.

So the argument, and you see this in a lot of left leaning cases, is that we should ban some types of food that people currently want because it is bad for them.

And this gets comical because the people arguing we should ban this stuff outright are currently fighting the Trump admin in court to allow EBT money to be used on it.

Here’s why it would always break down into chaos. Current law only allows state regulation of elections; there are no Federal election monitors or enforcers. This is why California can have massive amounts of state sponsored vote fraud and nothing will happen. As long as there is an electoral college, we know that Democrats will win California, but who cares by how much.

But with no EC, California’s fraud affects the overall election massively. The only counter will be for states like Texas and Florida to submit 250 million votes each for their candidates and say “Nyah Nyah!”

The entire system would break down quickly and the Union would collapse. That’s what the idiots who want to do away with the EC never understand; all paths without it lead to a final and complete collapse of the Union.

Posted by: Tom Servo at August 01, 2026 10:22 AM (7GO/2)
