Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Quick Hits![]() Attacks on Anthony Fauci were part of a right-wing plot to "destroy democracy," former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) head Anthony Fauci mused in his personal diary released by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). When Fauci was not marveling over his rise to global fame or desperately reaching out to former President Barack Obama for PR help as his reputation sank to new depths, Fauci convinced himself that attacks against him were all part of an elaborate plot of the political right to "destroy democracy." In an October 3, 2021 entry, Fauci wrote that the country "is headed to or might already be in a constitutional crisis with the far right clearly indicating that they're going to try and disrupt elections and essentially destroy the democracy." "The attacks on me I believe are all a tangential part of that process," Fauci surmised, flattering himself in the process. "I speak of the big lie of which I unfortunately have been drawn into being a target of the far right because I represent something that is antithetical to them, namely, the truth," he continued. Prosecutors release more admissions by Tyler Robinson that he murdered Charlie Kirk, provoking Candace Owens to ask the question, when did the Jews get to Tyler Robinson? The left claims "Not all Muslims are terrorists." But the left's pussyfooting around calling out terrorism, for fear of offending their Muslim supporters, suggests the left does in fact believe that all Muslims are terrorists. Or at least, they support terrorism. Not every Muslim is an Islamist, but every Islamist is a Muslim. The vast majority of ordinary British Muslims want nothing to do with their terrorist-supporting co-religionists; in many cases it is the tyranny and cruelty of Islamism that forced them to seek a new life here in the first place. And yet despite this clear distinction, despite the unambiguous motivations of a religiously inspired psychopath who thought he was doing God's will by attacking a Pride march, there are few politicians -- especially Labour ones -- with the courage to call it what it is. The X platform is awash with the usual boilerplate, box-ticking condolences you get on such (frequent) occasions. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, posted: "London stands in solidarity with Berlin's LGBTQ+ community. This is why Pride matters. Those who seek to spread hatred and division will never win." Those who seek to spread hatred and division? Anyone particular in mind, Lord Khan? How odd that the mayor of a city that has suffered more than its fair share of Islamist atrocities can't bring himself to name the poisonous ideology that provokes such inhuman acts. Sadly, there were plenty of others who followed the same craven pattern. Catherine West MP predicted that "hope will triumph over hate". But whose hate? Simon Lightwood MP's thoughts were with "everyone affected, their loved ones and the wider LGBT+ community". Everyone affected by what, though? Why did the attack even take place? Any thoughts. Simon? Ludicrously, Kate Osborne, Labour MP for Jarrow, actually compared the Islamist attack in Berlin to the rise of Reform UK, which would be funny were the implications not so chilling. I fear the answer to Labour's reticence to call a spade a spade lies purely in electoral considerations. While Andy Burnham's second coming has reassured his party that Reform can be beaten back and its electoral appeal blunted, there remains the headache over what to do about the haemorrhaging of votes to the party's Left, specifically to the Greens. Zack Polanski's party has exploited Muslim anger at Israel's response to the Hamas attacks of October 2023 and has effectively painted Labour as a supporter of Israel and as an apologist for events in Gaza. Having already lost four previously safe Labour seats to "Gaza independents" at the 2024 election, and with similarly motivated independents gearing up to fight vulnerable Labour-held seats at the next election, Labour is known to be extremely nervous about further offending or alienating Muslim voters. And while most Muslims reject the tenets of Islamism, hyper-sensitive, politically-correct Labour MPs can't help but notice that "Islamist" looks awfully similar to "Islam". Stupid as that sounds, it might explain the cowardice of so many MPs in refusing to name the real cause of so many terrorist acts in recent years.A DHS official put out a list of the worst activist judges. The media shrieked that he was endangering the lives of judges by naming them. But the media attacks people they don't like all the time. Are they confessing they are putting their enemies' lives in danger -- and either don't care or affirmatively desire that outcome? A high-ranking Trump Department of Homeland Security official called out the "liberal media" for what he referred to as the "absolute absurdity" of its response to his series criticizing activist judges. James Percival, general counsel for the Department of Homeland Security, posted a series on X last week, "Worst of the Worst, District Judge Edition." In his posts, Percival pointed to the risks that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents face while enforcing the law, saying some judges are working to "sabotage" those operations and put officers "at risk." After his posts, Percival said DHS was contacted by a Chicago Sun-Times reporter about whether "a social media post like this risk[s] additional threats" in the context of "ongoing threats to federal judges." In response, Percival blasted the outlet in an X post in which he told followers, "Witness the absolute absurdity of the liberal media response to my new series, Worst of the Worst, District Judges." Percival emphasized that "legitimate fact based critiques of judges and their rulings is fair game in a free society." He also noted that "the media has no issue with it if the judge is conservative." Notably, conservative judges, including Supreme Court justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, have been the target of intense criticism from the left and, in some cases, violence. In 2022, Kavanaugh was the target of an assassination plot after an armed California man traveled to his home with a pistol, ammunition, zip ties, pepper spray, duct tape and burglary tools. Further, Barrett testified in a recent congressional hearing that she has had to wear a bulletproof vest in response to threats. The media covered-up Fauci's creation of covid-19. What is gain-of-function research? Put simply, it includes any efforts by scientists to make a virus or other pathogen more deadly or more transmissable, to better understand ways said virus could mutate to become more dangerous. Doing so, proponents say, helps better inform efforts to develop vaccines and other defenses in the future. But even proponents admit that doing so carries with it serious risks. A virus made more dangerous to study it is still a more dangerous virus; its exposure to humans no less a threat because it was turbocharged for "good" reasons; its likelihood of escaping containment not mitigated by "good" intentions. In May 2025, President Trump decided such research was too risky, pausing it in the U.S., and making funding of foreign gain-of-function research illegal. Such research had previously been paused under President Obama as part of a new risk assessment in 2014 but resumed in 2017. Dr. Fauci has long been a vocal advocate of gain-of-function research, despite these considerable risks. Given short shrift in the melee around the facts (by the media, to be clear, not by Sen. Paul and his team) is that this alleged funding of virus-enhancing research wasn't just given to a lab in any nation, but to one run by the Chinese Communist Party, our chief geopolitical nemesis, and by any accounts a malignant communist regime opposed to truth and transparency of any kind. Why would we trust them with anything, none the less to conduct above-board research into a deadly pathogen, particularly when they had displayed a long history of safety lapses? As I argued on The Hill's Rising podcast with Emily Jashinsky and Ryan Grim back in 2021, Fauci was arguing semantics about what a new rule he himself inserted into funding guidelines said about what constituted gain-of-function research. That sleight-of-hand covered for what was really going on: the U.S. government was sending taxpayer dollars to research, in Wuhan, to make bat-based coronaviruses more transmissible and more deadly. This was happening at a lab doing cutting-edge research on these types of viruses and which had a reputation for flouting biosafety regulations -- a lab just a couple miles from where newly transmissible and deadlier cases of bat-based coronaviruses first appeared. It should be the story of the century. Could America's top doctor have partnered with the Chinese Communist Party to help to unleash a global pandemic that killed millions? Why, ahead of said doctor's public testimony aren't outlets scrambling to understand what happened, given all this directional evidence? I think it's because of the legacy media's love affair with Dr. Fauci as America's supposed COVID-savior. I worry we're already forgetting just how enamored the legacy press -- the institution constitutionally responsible for holding government to account -- was with Dr. Fauci, certainly before but particularly in the early days of COVID. To the press, Fauci was a hero, battling dangerous forces who refused to take COVID as seriously as The Science did. Do you remember how preposterous these headlines were? ![]()
On the campaign trail, Democrat candidate James Talarico often describes his faith as "biblical Christianity." But the Senate hopeful once credited Islamic mystics with shaping his faith just as much as Christian writers, audio unearthed by The Daily Wire reveals. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Talarico asserted that his faith was rooted in "biblical Christianity." During an appearance on The State of Belief podcast in April 2024 alongside Muslim state Rep. Salman Bhojani, Talarico praised Islam for shaping his religious beliefs. Those comments could come into play as debate heats up in Texas about Islam's growing presence in the state. "I know personally that I've learned as much about my faith from Salman's tradition, from the Islamic mystics, from poets like Rumi, as much as I have from Christian authors and Christian writers," he said. "This kind of interfaith dialogue, it doesn't water down your tradition, in fact it strengthens it, it brings out new flavors and new colors."Via Hot Air. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Odd, Twit Talarico. I've been a Christian as long as I can remember and I've never learned anything from islam. Granted I've never tried. Nor do I intend to read the koran or attend a mosque.
The koran tells you to lie and murder as that is justified, which is not a Christian concept. To do this to form their Ummah. By jihad, by killing of innocents, and by rape. Also not Christian. Abusing children by marrying little girls is also not Christian. Killing anyone who tries to convert to Christianity is, well, not Christian! Get your facts straight, you dumb turd. We worship the Trinity and are saved by the grace of God in believing He sent His only Son to die for our sins. I'm quite sure that's not in the koran or spoken at mosques. If anyone says that, they should be asked: - Name a muslim majority country that is not "islamist" - Name a muslim theology which does not call for conquest and jihad, and sharia - Name muslim book or leader who speaks out against terrorism, sharia, blasphemy laws, etc. >> in many cases it is the tyranny and cruelty of Islamism that forced them to seek a new life here in the first place. If this is true, have they renounced islam? Have they converted? At best, they are afraid to but if that is the case, why do we allow them to drag their terror religion into the West? Either renounce the terror religion, or stay where it rules. But it is a lie, they do not come to escape islam, but to spread it as their book tells them to. They come to extract their payment from non-believers in the form of benefits. They may not commit direct terrorism themselves, but they embrace islam and the spread of islam. - the fatalism of Norse, fighting even though you know in the end that you will lose and it will all end. - Buddhism. Life is pain. Life is learning to tolerate pain. - Manicheanism, where the idea that the fight between good and evil is eternal, with the outcome in doubt. All of these things are interesting, but mostly in how they connect to Christian teachings. You examine your own and reflect on it, by looking at the others. Which is why speaking of the US government as a singular entity is incoherent. Is the US government in favor of or opposed to X? The answer is it is on both sides typically. Which side in the conflict is it financing? Both. Although in the case of public officials we at least have positions and votes, generally elements of the bureaucracy are unaccountable and have very little monitoring. The normal thing is to just co-opt people more directly and not leave the obvious fingerprints of a US grant. I worked with a surgeon who was muslim in the ED. His last name would blow your minds. Seemed reasonable. Educated in the USA. Didn't wear deodorant, as under very stressful times I noticed.
Anyway, there was an attack or something a few months after 9/11 when I worked with all the staff there. I can't remember if it was anthrax (we were in FL) or what. I was walking from another building to the ED and he was in the parking lot as well and was on the phone and pale, as it was a bad mark for islam, whatever it was. On 9/11 I called my husband who was in a big meeting. Said we are at war as I'd just watched the second plane hit the WTC. He told all there and a nice guy he worked with, by all accounts, also muslim, got very pale, too as they turned on a tv. Some in the Western world may WANT to reform or even convert...but they face death in wanting either. It is that simple. My favorite concept album is perhaps the most obscure record ever released - an album celebrating Zambia's independence, coming out in 1964. It has 26 short songs, each about a different letter of the alphabet, and each one, usually in some bizarre or obscure way, about Zambia, past present or future.
What makes itn remarkable is that almost all the sings are memorable, or catchy, or just plain ol' crazy. "C is for Copper Belt" is one of my favorites. Whoever the songwriter was, he was some kind of genius. Posted by: zombie at July 30, 2026 06:48 PM (Av6i5) 159

Break this down for a moment. And take this even from a very friendly take on Fauci's COVID policies - they were at best most a failure. The shots didn't stop the spread, they had negative health impacts, and none of the distancing/masking stuff did anything. Well what should we do with a government official that fails? In the ancient world it would get you literally crucified in the modern world it should at least get you fired. How is this "attacking democracy"? No one elected Fauci. _Giorgia Meloni Make no mistake. At the end of this, the EU is going to try to mobilize assets to put down any member that resists open borders. And then things well get sporty. Why bother? All the information I am posting is public, it's been available for years. For some reason, our crackerjack media has decided not to report on it. Obama made a big show of banning gain of function research in the US. But he didn't do dick about Fauci sending grants to the same researchers to do the research overseas including with the CCP. And that's a big reason the media is trying to cover it up and for years cancel anyone who tried to put out the facts instead of the idiotic wet market bat/pangolin sex party. It was manmade, it came from the Wuhan lab, and guys like Ralph Baric and Peter Daszak who who got grant from Fauci and the DOD and USAID (CIA) paid for at least some of it. Perhaps that is one reason they tried to cover it up and still are. Posted by: JackStraw at July 30, 2026 07:11 PM (viF8m) 218

203 >>I'm not saying the US didn't finance some of it, but this is like blaming the US for Palestinian attacks on Israel. We spend vastly more on that.
It's really not. Fauci didn't just provide them money through Ecohealth, he provided them technical assistance. It's right in the grant proposal. >>As for DEFUSE, the proposal he submitted with Peter Daszak of EcoHealth Alliance and Zhengli Shi of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, he confirmed that the step of inserting a furin cleavage site into a viral backbone was his to perform: “That part would be done by me.” The furin cleavage site is the very feature of SARS-CoV-2 that first drew lab-origin scrutiny. ISTR that the 'resumed in 2017' on GoF should have, to be accurate, been prefaced with 'illegally'. As in, they were told not to do it, they did it anyway, and lied about it. Let's not pretend that it somehow became legitimate just because they started doing it.

Posted by: Smell the Glove That's basically the plot of "The Long Good Friday" with Bob Hoskins. The IRA descend on London and start committing terror acts, and the police are too incompetent or corrupt to do anything about it, so instead the cops start harassing the local gangsters (Bob). Out of patience, Bob instead turns his underworld criminal gang into an anti-terror hit squad, eliminating the IRA, who have invaded his turf and unsettled things. Moral: Don't mess with Bob Hoskins. I See ...: "I seriously ask. What is the state of the Texas GOP ? I wouldn't know."
I'm indy conservative and classic Republican, not GOP per se. I'm no insider so I can't say. My observations, though, are that Texas continues to be dominant R and moving Righter. Yes, Austin is still coocoo Left, but the big cities are not able to dominate the rest of the populace WRT voting R. The real danger had been Democrats (RINOs) running for state offices as Republicans since Democrats were mostly electorally toxic, but the State has moved further Right ever since Gov Abbott got elected. And with Cornyn getting his ass handed to him by Paxton in the primary - someone who simply dominated the senior US-TX Senate seat for multiple terms - it's total BS that Talarico is in the drivers seat. I'd say the Texas GOP is pretty strong, probably as strong as it has ever been. But I'm approaching 29, so it's relative. Posted by: AnonyBotymousDrivel at July 30, 2026 07:32 PM (oji8u) 246
