Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Iran Threatens Lives of First Lady and Barron Trump; Trump Says He'll Kick the Sh** Out of ThemIran is calling upon its foreign agents to kill Trump's wife and youngest son.
Iran just launched five missiles at US bases. The missiles were all intercepted, but Trump vows vengeance.
Trump explained why he hasn't yet bombed Iran's bridges and power plants. It's simple: He's thinking about the day after the collapse of the regime. The freed people of Iran will desperately need to start making money, and that will be difficult with all of the bridges and power plants destroyed. Trump explains that bridges can take up to ten years to build and power plants are the most expensive piece of infrastructure to rebuild. I watched a video last week explaining that's why Trump has not bombed Kharg Island down to ground, too. It turns out that despite Iran's long coast on the Strait, they have only one deep water port, and that's Kharg Island. The rest of the coastal waters are shallow and piled with silt which prevents ocean-going tankers from pulling up to take on oil. This is also why you only hear of plans to use Marines to seize Kharg Island, as opposed to dropping massive ordnance penetrators on it and just destroying the port entirely. So again, he's contemplating the post-war economy of Iran and deciding not to bomb key infrastructure that the Iranians will desperately need. That all makes sense. Here's what doesn't: Repeatedly threatening to bomb things you've already decided not to bomb.
— U.S. Central Command (@CENTCOM) July 29, 2026 U.S. Central Command and the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces conducted precision strikes in Iraq, July 28, against Iran-aligned terrorists that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) directed to attack U.S. forces and Saudi energy infrastructure. U.S. and Saudi fighter aircraft struck multiple terrorist logistics and weapons sites across eastern Iraq in a strong response to over 30 IRGC-directed aerial drone attacks in the last 72 hours. The unwarranted attacks against U.S. forces were not successful.Leftists are openly grieving Iran's inability to fund their favorite murderous, psychopathic Muslim terrorist forces.

Yea, but Iran doesn't know that. And there may come a time when we have to bomb those things. I'm not sure how long we keep doing these half-measures, without going for the jugular, because of some (mostly) altruistic notion that we have to save Iran for the Iranians. I'd love Iranians to live in a free society without head-chopping lunatics in charge. I also want a pet dragon. So cutting them off from banking, taking their money and giving it to their most recent victims of their bombardment, and letting them see what they could be earning on the international oil market, if they only agreed to peace, will eventually lead to a form of shareholder's meeting in which they will determine the way forward. If we get serious about damaging Iran's infrastructure one possible outcome is for the country to fracture formally or informally into smaller entities that are more interested in food and trade then war with the Great Satan. They are being reduced to using small arms and their spheres of control are shrinking. Shooting at unarmed crowds is a sign of desperation. At some point you’re going to face an increase risk of IR, and when you start to hear about that action it’s a sign of the end times. We’ve been picking apart their dispersed units and local Basij line ducks in a shooting gallery. There’s going to be a point at which that has an impact including the replacements saying f that, they want to live.

OT, new Substack called Model Behavior decided to feature a Q&A with Taylor Lorenz in their debut issue. Yeah sure, someone is going to do HVAC and be a journo on the side. And the old and cliche "we just have to have these conversations" line.
--------------------------------------------- Any advice for someone who wants to start in journalism in the midst of all of this? I would tell them that the business model for journalism is in flux right now, so if you want to be a journalist, number one, build a direct relationship with an audience. That’s the most valuable thing you can do. And don’t shy away from new technology. The one advantage you have when you’re starting out is that you’re starting from scratch, so you can build your business model however you want. There are a lot of young people I talk to today who know journalism is going to be a hobby for them. They’ll become an HVAC technician and do journalism on the side, or make some other product and use that to fund their journalism. I don’t know that we’re going to have journalism the same way we had for the past 50 or 60 years. But we could build something better. We just have to have these conversations. This decentralized organizational model is what is making Iran such a tough nut to crack. Like Imperial Japan, taking every single node in the system will require boots on the ground and serious casualties of US personnel. Like the Pacific war, it is not actually required to take each node, and instead just prevent resupply - by sea, by land and from China, and across the mountains from, for example, ports on the Caspian sea. Without resupply, and destruction of the banking net, the men can't be paid, fed, and ammo and missiles can't be replenished. One food truck guy starts talking about how much money they are making, but the other guy realizes it isn't helping and instead argues with the fatty food they are serving they will surely kill plenty of infidels in 20-30 years The leader hears all of that and sounds dismissive but the next day has his own food truck serving cheaper food. What options does Trump even have left on Iran?
Declare victory and leave the region: U.S. bases would still be open to attacks. Ground invasion: a disaster in terms of casualties and turn into a forever war. Nukes are a PR nightmare. Iran said they're done negotiating with the Trump. You can't unfuck the dog. He's options are capitulate or escalate. Both bad choices. He'll blame everyone going back to Carter. He already has MAGA believing we've been at war with Iran for 47 years and that he simply inherited the current situation. he is running out of levers to pull to keep oil prices from getting out of control. He'll most likely have to sign an embarrassing deal and then completely throw Vance under the bus. He'll fire Hegseth. This is one reason for his takeover of all news agencies. Just continue to say you won biggly and let the propaganda avalanche do its thing. I bet he wishes he had Oboma's deal now as he fucked this up royally. You don't. The situation needs to be managed militarily. They need a sustainable strategy to keep tankers moving, while they then construct a long term solution, a logistical work around that avoids the coast of those dickbags. 1) Trump insists on giving every opportunity to allow the other side to do the right thing, before initiating bloodshed. 2) It's a cover story for the times where he has reason to pause the attack that he doesn't want to make public. He's thinking about the day after the collapse of the regime. The freed people of Iran
One of the problems is Trump doesn't really do regime change. He's criticized it often in the past and he doesn't really think well in those terms. He's always conflating the country of Iran or the Iranian people with this group of theocratic Islamic doomsdayist cult mass murderers that have gained control over the country, referring to them often as just the "Iranians" and granting them rhetorical legitimacy as the embodiment of the Iranian people. In truth, he was right about Iraq, we didn't need regime change. After kicking Saddam out of Kuwait, Bush and Powell could have kept waging war until the Iraqi government surrendered. They would have had to hand over Saddam for trial, but the Baath party could have been left in charge with a peace treaty in which they acknowledged Kuwait's right to exist and paid damages and that would probably have been for the better. But Iran is a different case entirely. Since 1979 our goal should always have been regime change and granting no recognition to the Islamist cultists that held our hostages and maintained power through mass murder. We would need maybe 10-15 million drones supported by a ground force of some nature but what drone warfare has shown us is we don't need a massive D-Day type invasion force to support a drone rollover of every significant IRGC formation in the country. Hundreds just standing there while 6 or 8 people were hung from forklifts at a time. Up the when ths kicking stops down. 6 more tied to the same rope, rince and repeat.
