It's only controversial if you are devoted to the idea that all foreigners not only have a right to be present in America, but must be encouraged to exercise this non-existent right. For the voting. The New York Times complains that the US is, get this, turning away foreigners just for having expired -- void -- visas. You know, like the law says is supposed to happen!

Do you think the author made the sign of the Hillary when they repeated this article of faith? I am not an immigration lawyer, but I imagine that holders of an expired visa have a clear path to renew their visa. That means they're not in limbo. "the proposed note about "that is how visas work" misses the fact that many official avenues for immigration often leave aliens in immigration limbo with no legal status"
This is complete bullshit. Once your visa expires, that's it -- it's over. It's like an expired driver's license. There's no "legal limbo" about whether you can still drive. You fucking can't. At one time, when foreigners took US immigration rules seriously, they would never overstay a visa, even one that would be renewed. Because if they did, and they were caught, they would never get another visa again. I knew a lot of foreigners -- mostly from Asia -- who were here on legal visas (mostly for work or school) and wanted to eventually get a green card. They would fly back home rather than risk overstaying even a day. From home, they would get the visa renewed, and come back to USA. There was no "legal limbo" horseshit. There are also provisions for asking for a temporary "stay" of deportation while you are applying for a renewal. Anyone caught with an over-stayed visa and no stay in place pending renewal is a dirty fucker and can go fuck right off. There's no "legal limbo" in this case. But, given that the estimates are that approximately 8-10 million came here in the Biden years and over a million illegals were given SSNs at the same time, it takes a while to drain the ocean of illegals. They just fired a leftist piece of shit who was head of DHS's statistics dealing with deportation numbers for underestimating deportation and underestimation of total illegals. I think the 'paid to deport' article is literally missing a zero. Axios says 220,000. DHS says 2,200,000
From DHS: More than 3 million illegal aliens have left the US or been deported since President Trump took office, the Department of Homeland Security has revealed. Of those 3 million, 2.2 million have opted to self-deport through a program that allows migrants to turn themselves in via a DHS app in return for a cash stipend and free flight home. Another 900,000 have been deported since Jan. 20, 2025, and as of this month, DHS has arrested 900,000 illegal aliens, according to agency figures. One of the best things about the Media is its relentless lying.
One lie upon the other which turns into contradictions. It's inevitable. Hope is that the mussy brained middle who eat this crap will eventually, and it is slowly happening, see the contradictions and become aware that they are, daily, minute by minute, being spoon fed lies. Not to be obstreperous, but over the last two years, I recall many people here citing numbers of people self-deporting in the millions, with very little in the way of supporting evidence. I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now. Are we now admitting that that was never the case?

150 President Barack Obama earned the nickname "Deporter-in-Chief" from immigration rights groups because his administration formally removed more than 3 million people over two terms. This total was higher than any other modern U.S. president's administration.
Early policies targeted both serious criminals and people with minor or no infractions. Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at July 29, 2026 01:42 PM (LL19j) ====== Obama's first term actually was fairly aggressive in terms of deportations. But things changed, really, in 2013. That's when the Obama administration started counting border turnaways as deportations and massively reduced interior enforcement. The dual-scare of 2010 (actual loss) and 2012 (stolen presidential election) seem to have convinced the Democrat Party that they needed to massively import a new migrant class to oppress the white working class that had turned on them. If the Democrats run your state or even localities like Nashville, they try every single means to keep even criminal illegals in the US--drop criminal charges, ignore benefit laws restricting those to US citizens, or even in some cases, like Houston, trying to illegally pay immigration attorneys for illegals using public money. Texas is heavily invested in the system and represent the largest plurality of deportations in the nation. The entire west coast have state laws barring local cops from entering these agreements. Hasn't that been the "accepted number" since the '90s?" In the early 2000's it was usually reported in the MSM as an estimated 15-20 million, which seemed about right and admitted the uncertainty to eh actual number. Then when it became an issue it sudden dropped to 11 million based on some BS studies using no hard data to come up with a politically acceptable number. It has even been reported at 11 million even after Biden allowed in another 10-12 million. Actual number can be no less than 40 million based on US demographics Posted by: Ripley at July 29, 2026 02:03 PM (GUOwU) 265

Another point with immigration and voting. The Dems have used illegals to create rotten boroughs where there are few citizens voting.
So imagine in area in CA where the census counted half citizens/half illegals vs the same area in TX. The CA district even if it does stop illegals from voting still gives one rep for half the citizens the TX rep serves. Posted by: 18-1 at July 29, 2026 02:06 PM (sKqQm) 282

I strongly suspect that the lack of immigration national news since Goode and Pretti were two fold. The first was the the Bovino and Noem show did end. Mullin took a different tact and there were fewer convoys. Smaller teams going in and doing the work. The other is that the issue probably didn't actually focus group that well. White leftists making asses of themselves (which hasn't stopped, just the national coverage of it) just played poorly, so the media found another squirrel to focus on. Employer/workplace enforcement is either non-existent, or minimal and well-concealed. And it's far far more important, with more leverage to actually resolve the problem, then every other enforcement campaign. They're all valuable and needed, but ..... hard to be hopeful that the key enforcement avenue will be pursued. Would be nice to see something get done.
Goes without saying that the real issue here is lawlessness, and a mindset that views lawlessness as OK. A mindset that has rotted the institutions, the "courts", and much of the populace, from brainless suburban/blue haired moral narcissists to business owners to public "employees". Lol, that St. Paul police chief in the Minn mayor story has a more impressive uniform than Admiral Nimitz did. And as far as I can tell the Minnesota police aren't even winning the war there

A DSA candidate running for Wisconsin governor was asked about illegals driving down wages. This was in response to her saying she will fight for the working class. Her response was she will do everything she can to keep ice away from hard working “immigrants”. Any member of the working class voting for her will get it good and hard. You make fun of those men as well, of course. I'm just not on the bandwagon of no women should ever be in public of office. I don't know the Governors of all the states, but I'm guessing there must have been- or are -some women who are quite competent. And no, I don't want to argue about it anymore . Is that Barbecue guy still in charge in Haiti?
Posted by: Bulg at July 29, 2026 02:10 PM (77rzZ) ______ He was never technically "in charge" as he's not in government. He's a quasi-warlord drug-dealing gangster who fancies himself a rebel against the government. He controls large sections of Port-a-Pottie. He eats his enemies. I like him. Haiti is probably as close to Thunderdome as exists in the world today. Somalia too. Posted by: Elric The Blade at July 29, 2026 02:17 PM (iFTx/) 339

Yup, California is, indeed, a current priority of ICE. They have eight large detention centers (the latest opened a couple months ago), and have thousands of individuals being held at those locations. Posted by: Orson ================ Color me shocked? Where is this happening? Schools in my county are still stuffed with kids who were brought over during Biden's term. And I am surprised that ICE roundups, if that's what's happening, aren't still a big story. My Chrome feed is full of "Diabetic mother sent back to Mexico" stories. By the numbers: Each self-deportation is costing the government about $2,500, plus the stipend paid to the deportee, DHS says. Removing an immigrant who doesn't volunteer for deportation costs about $18,245, the agency said.

Ed Morrissey at HotAir had a column up yesterday white knighting for Mitt Romney's "Self-deportation" idea back in '12. Ed's saying "See! Mitt was right about self deportation!! It's working!" except it only works if you have a President like Trump that is making it so miserable to be here if you are illegal. So pathetic, Ed. Posted by: Frank Barone at July 29, 2026 01:19 PM (OkYzo) I remember Ed shilling for McCain when Michelle Malkin brought his fat a** to Hot Air. He was also a reliable 'that's not who we are' when someone ever proposed fighting back. Never liked that f**king dweeb. Posted by: Nelly at July 29, 2026 02:40 PM (6+ehB) 345
Controversial my fat arse as far as the money...yes $3k is far cheaper than the legal battles of $18k to deport, deport, deport.
The BIG picture of the cost of ONE illegal in the state of CA annually is roughly $7K. That's what is admitted Free everything from healthcare to housing...all illegal. Illegal Medicaid dollars spent, and probably more than reported plus their illegal vote. House Budget Committe states CA totals of illegals are $30 billion by taxpayers. Healthcare: $8.4 billion. Education: $3.4 billion. Policing/court/jail: $4.4 billion. In ONE State. This money does not include the Nick Shirley discovered fraud of illegals that climbs to hundreds of millions. In my opinion $3k is NOTHING to get them out of here! Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at July 29, 2026 02:42 PM (hzuYO) Processing 0.06, elapsed 0.064 seconds. |
