Fairy was off somewhere, maybe bathing in dew or something who knows. Boy sees her, hides, falls asleep on 'a blanket' that is actually her dress made of starlight and mist.

She saw him, was intrigued, but all these darned fasteners that mortals use... so complicated... oops, he's awake!

Now she's embarassed and trying to flee, but her dress... she's trying to unravel it from where it got tangled on him, hopefully without tearing it.

128 I enjoy these Scandi painters with scenes from folk tales and northern myths. There is a dreamlike, sometimes nightmarish, quality that invites the viewer's attention. In this painting everything is bright and soft, the foliage and the fairy figure, except the man in his dark clothing. He is tied to the earth. The contrast between the two figures emphasize each. Even if you don't know the specific source of the image you almost have to start thinking about a story. (At least I do.) There is a whimsical quality that is very appealing.

139 Saw "The Odyssey".

I can now see why people like it and hate it.

First, the Like: Very well-made movie. Some great acting. Excellent direction for the set pieces. Clear theme throughout. If you know nothing of "The Odyssey", this is a movie you can enjoy and won't be bored in.

The Hate: The Greeks were basically a shame society. We live in a guilt society. Nolan made a movie for a guilt society.

In a "guilt movie", the hero has to feel guilt over something. In this case, Odysseus feels guilt over his triumph, the Trojan Horse and the Fall of Troy, which totally inverts the story. If this sounds like Ancient Greek Oppenheimer, it is.

I believe Nolan even sneaks in an atomic destruction reference from "The Planet of the Apes"(!) with the Trojan Horse looking more like it was abandoned than left as a gift, half-buried in sand and tilted at the same angle as the Statue of Liberty in TPoTA.

Every triumph or escape from the dangers of that Odysseus and his men encounter is just another chance to portray Odysseus and his men as venal, violent a-holes. This accounts for the flatness of the movie.

140 Reddit is all abuzz about someone “arrested for clapping” at a city council meeting about data centers. The MAGA fascists are arresting people!!!!ty.

In reality the DSA type named “Lux” (picture in your mind what you think he looks like and he looks like that), most certainly funded by the Chinese’s wasn’t arrested “for clapping”. He was arrested because he had been told repeatedly to stop interrupting the meeting. He ignored the request repeatedly by clapping when others were speaking. He was told if you clap one more time you will be arrested. He started clapping. And got arrested. Oh and he’s a teacher, of course.

The left wing media is treating this like opposition to data centers means you’ll get arrested. When in reality it’s being disruptive at a city council meeting will get you arrested. Like it’s always been. And weren’t we told interfering with govt business was treason? I could have sworn that was a thing in early 2021.

The effectiveness of Chinese propaganda against data centers would make Goebels blush. Two minutes ago nobody knew what the fuck a data center was. Today it’s like global warming to these people.

Circe pretty much lays it all out in her sequence. And when after Odysseus begging her to return his men. She brings them back form pigs by saying"Return to your disguise. Return to your disguise."

See? they aren't men or brave soldiers in reality, Odysseus and his men are merely pigs in disguise.
This is the inheritance of Nolan using the feminist translation. At some point, we always get the angry feminist view of things from some woman. Again this undercuts the movie and story.

Penelope even complains about the "glass-ceiling" in Greek society that won't allow her to rule as Queen. In a really nice bit of dialogue, she says "I have sat on an empty throne for 20 years." That says it all and much more, buuuuut then she goes on to junk up the clean declaration with a bunch of feminist gobbledygook. Sad.

This even explains the odd casting of "Elliot Page". it's weird trannie looks tend inevitable toward the feminine, and when in hell Odysseus gets a berating from Ol' Elli about his lies that sounds remarkably like a girl's complaint delivered by an oddly feminine looking "boy".

Nolan made the Odyssey guilt trip. He skinned it of meaning a wears it inside out.

145 (con't)

Nolan's "The Odyssey" begins with the quote:
"In an Age of Apparent Magic..."

Apparent's meaning in this case is something that appears real or true but isn't.

There are no gods in this Odyssey. Athena who appears only to Odysseus is basically Banquo's Ghost. In his climactic memory of the Fall of Troy, we see a priestess of Athena(Zendaya) roughed up and beheaded along with the beheading of a statue of Athena. She is his guilty memory. That's why she's always staring at him like your mom giving you the silent treatment for something you did.

No one but Odysseus is alive to tell these tales of his voyages, and we are given to understand that he is merely a sad, and haunted old man driven mad by his guilt over the Trojan Horse and Troy's downfall.

All we truly know of him is that he washed up on Calypso's Island where she gave him Grecian Valium for almost a decade to heal him.

This renders his return to Ithaca almost well, stupid and meaningless.

So...is the Odyssey a tale of a determined, brave, crafty, intelligent man fighting monsters and the very gods themselves to get home to the family he loves, or-

The lies a pig who dreamt he was a human tells himself.

182 There are legit concerns about datacenters. But there's also a push by China to oppose them here. China lags behind the US in their AI tech. Slowing down our datacenter build-outs for AI and storing the massive amount of surveillance data being collected on the public is about the only way they'll stay in the game.

They actively try to steal every known LLM and the client software. Or hack it. Their datacenter manufacturing is about as good as their residential and commercial sectors; it sucks. Same for their IC manufacturing.

But there are concerns that some locations are being leveraged here that are unsuited for a datacenter. And, as people rightly point out, they'll be obsolete in years, but take up valuable real estate and cost millions or billions to disassemble. Lastly, many are uncomfortable with all the surveillance data being fed into them. And for what reason?
